The only difference is that even when they get a handle on using the ESRAM, the hardware itself is still just plain weaker. That was not the case with the PS3. There is simply a gap between the two this time.

CBOAT - I'm having trouble reconciling why it's so hard for developers to use the ESRAM. Is it simply a matter of the development tools, or is there just plainly not enough of it to render a 1080p image with enough bells & whistles. I thought there was top tier compression language in there to help things along. Is the fact that developers have to modify code to fit a different size bus a big hurdle?

I'd caution you when using B3D as a source for anything. I would also say that, while your post was clearly, thoroughly thought out, it was also factually incorrect on many points.

Unfortunately, I don't exactly know my way around tech talk, so someone more technically gifted than I would have to deconstruct your post.

Yes, they did need Apple for competition based on the legal issues they had at the time. Also, the real reason they invested that money (which really was just a PR move not anything of real substance that mattered as far as keeping Apple in business) was that Apple thus agreed to drop the remainder of their lawsuits in return for this and a commitment to keep developing Office for the Mac.

Just think of this... crazy shit is only going to accelerate between now and the closer launches get. As people get their hands on with actual hardware and software, the mini-tons and mega-tons and all sorts of tons will be entertaining, sometimes sad, sometimes thought provoking, sometimes filled with Buttanese and sometimes filled with bish banning f00s.

In the end, it's all part of why I love NeoGAF :D

I understand your sentiment, but I disagree in this instance. What can be asserted without evidence can be rejected without evidence. I don't think that poster needed to write a paragraph detailing that post's technical shortcomings when the initial inquiry was so problematic. I understand the importance of an environment that fosters discussion and you'd be right nine out of ten times.
