Well, I have to give credits to the third party devs not compromising the PS4 versions, at least for the games which are 720p on the One and 1080p on the PS4. Good job devs!

he also used Erik Kain as a source and he got reamed by Kevin Dent for being a liar and he didn't go back at Dent for calling him a liar, he just said Dent was a jerk.

@TyrantII @erikkain @Forbes yeah, Erik is wrong. Shocker there though.

@TheKevinDent @TyrantII @Forbes but hey be a jerk on Twitter man. So brave!

@erikkain @TyrantII @Forbes all I know are the NDA's that I have signed. But hey pretend to be a journo on twitter dude, it's cool

Could someone give me a simple explanation on the esram issue.
Esram has the same problems as cell processor had for Sony. It's something that developers are having a hard time getting a grasp off and requires some serious optimization. The first year or so on Xbone will be quite similar to PS3'S lackluster looking games compared to 360.

Will we see games getting better next year? Possibly. Will PS4 get better too? Absolutely.

This will be a nice thread to peruse through whilst I restore a friend's old-ass laptop.

Dude's gonna need a new hard drive, so I'll give him my useless rinky-dink PS3 HD and charge him $30 or a Nancy's Chicago deep dish pizza, his choice.

I'd rather have the pizza, since I'll probably use the money to order the pizza, so's I can eat some of it and read this soon to be awesome thread :p

Maybe if Microsoft got into the television business they would start caring about resolution. They should buy Panasonic as soon as Apple brings out their television displays.

720p for launch games is bad, but the review embargo is infuriating. Microsoft should be nailed to the wall by reviewers for this shit.

The Xbone is going to be a seriously gimped console if you're even remotely interested in third party titles it seems.
This is really concerning if developers are struggling like this. Even when the PS3 was brand new developers never ever showed differences in quality as huge as this.

That's because the PS3 wasn't weak, it just was more complex than the 360. The Xbox One is weak, and nothing can change it now.

Sure sounds like platform differences to me.

How is it stupid Gies? I actually believed 10 min ago and even wrote a post, that maybe the reasoning is that Xbox One games do need to be authenticated the first time they are used, so it would be impossible to turn them on until launch to review them. That at least is stupid but understandable.

But a difference in resolution? Is that not something that this supposed game journalist is suppose to notify the buying customer?

Whatever, i know Gies and i am just wasting my time with this but it irks me, more than the 720p thing

Didn't dice say PS4 is not 1080p? I mean not literally but they confirmed xox one is 720p but didn't comment on PS4.

Last thing I recall was a thread about some guy on twitter saying it was 720p on PS4 and a DICE guy saying "lol no," which led to 900p PS4 speculation. Don't think there's ever been confirmation of a specific resolution though.

Why the fuck would they make the XB1 embargo stretch out like that? Would that not be more controversial? MS PR/Marketing department seems so dysfunctional. They seemingly want to hide everything as if that will make bad news go away.

CBOAT said the same thing, but that appears to be their approach to PR.

Let the animosity and negativity drag themselves into important launch and reveal events for their console.

Imagine if they faced the always-online DRM problem head-on the moment Adam Orth spoke instead of waiting until after E3 and preorder numbers tanked to make a reversal.

MS should bite it and pull a WiiU. New system without the esRAM and just 8GB GDDR5. Same GPU, etc. Just fix the RAM. Next fall for $349.

Just my speculation, but Microsoft's 3rd generation is potentially a dud because they listened to Crytek/Epic to focus on 8GB of RAM. Obviously 8GB of GDDR5 was impossible 2-3 years ago so they went for DDR3 + eSRAM.

Didn't sports games (EA) run at half the framerate on PS3 that first year?

Anyway, yeah the story is still PS4=more power=better multiplats. Nice to have the pressure out there though. Maybe MS will react a little sooner.

At least the Cell had some juice in it. eSRAM is just a pain with no possible benefit when they start to work it out.

Knowing how these games were looking (and Microsoft would have known many months ago), why on earth did they still insist on including Kinect? If your hardware is underpowered, it has to sell at a lower price.

Microsoft, you have absolutely fucked up.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
Could someone give me a simple explanation on the esram issue.

Certain rendering techniques require a certain number of pixelbuffers (in addition to the framebuffer). Those are data structures that hold information for every pixel on the screen (e.g. color, transparency, material, ...). Since they are accessed often, access to these buffers requires bandwidth. Their size depends on the game's resolution. For instance, a buffer with a depth of 4 bytes requires ~8MB at 1080p and ~3.5MB at 720p.

On the XBO those buffers have to be placed into the eSRAM if high bandwidth access is crucial. However, the more buffers you need and the higher the resolution is, the more space you need. 32MB become a limit.

Should named it Xbox720 after all.
Lmao.

Poor Microsoft. They really should have ditched the camera and spent that extra $100 on putting in a way beefier GPU. Xbone with a 7970/GTX 680 level GPU (or hell, even 7950/760 with some extra clocks to speed them up) would've made them the higher end console and gotten rid of all these 'not enough power gotta do 720-900p' fiascos that are burning them.

A shame, really... their obsession with Kinect burned them on the technical front.

No. The embargo date is 7 days after the PS4s version because the Xbone is released 7 days after the PS4. The embargo date is 10 days before release on both systems.

The system does launch a week later...so delaying reviews by a week isn't entirely unreasonable. MS seems to be a week or so behind Sony in their ads too.

Interesting, Albert made it seem like it was on Activision when no one could talk about the resolution on the XB1. More bullshit I guess. I'm glad we have leakers so they can't keep the problem under wraps for too long.

People are still going to buy the XboxOne in droves, and they are going to have no idea about these issues.

Man if Ghosts and BF4 are native 1080p and (at least) 900p, respectively, I think I'll make an effort to try to get a PS4 by the end of the year instead of waiting until spring like I had planned.

Oh an I think that people have kinda almost forgotten that PS4 has 32 render outputs to the One's 16. That helps with things like resolution.
