Well the gap is much LARGER than I expected so...
It will be interesting what other multiplat titles will look like

Yeah...it goes without saying that unless you are trying to highlight and element or something, don't alter images and post them unlabeled to prove a point. That's Mickey Mouse, mate. Spurious. Bull-Shit.
The UI doesn't match up with the image. It looks like the PS4 is running on a TV with overscan turned on since all the UI elements are close to the edges of the screen - or BF4 has an option where you can adjust the image size for TVs.
Do people actually believe this? Crazy.
So i have watched both the Videogamer and DF vids and to me the Xbox One version looks more vivid, has better textures and looks sharper while the PS4 version looks sharper with stuff in the distance while the Xbox One has more jaggies for stuff in the distance.
The IGN comparison pics do make the PS4 version look a lot sharper though which is strange after watching both comparison vids.
One things for certain though, the difference is minute and a lot less than people were expecting on here when they were getting their popcorn ready last night, i wish i had stopped up now!.
I guess I'm not understanding why Digital Foundry made the changes they made.
He is right, though. Killzone mops the floor with BF4 visuals.
You are again talking about the fucked up DF recording. You just saw the pictures I posted, how can you say that the X1 textures look better?
Because this is the texture difference you get from 720p to 900p.
No, its just to fight all these guys coming in here, yelling how much better the X1 version looks who are not realizing they arent actually talking about a console version difference but TV settings. That was horrible a few pages back.
Watch the IGN comparison and get ready for a rude awakening

Look at the ground, grass, rocks, look at the distance.
DF screwed up
Well the gap is much LARGER than I expected so...
It is pretty much worse than anything I was expecting. The difference is bigger than almost anything on previous generation. Its ridiculous.

That's the difference in resolution.
One is 900p and the other is 720p.
I stabbed him in the water!!!!!The only thing is you will never experience a Killzone moment in Killzone, never mind something as *gasp* visceral as you do during a Battlefield moment.
#truthfact
You should have at least made both pictures look equally sharp.
No?
When did I mention textures?
The problem with PS4 version is that everything looks too soft so the textures don't really pop out, same with the colours.
It's the 360 vs PS3 all over again except the PS4 is the winning console this time. Good thing I have a PS4 preordered!
Not impressed with the way it looks on either system, I expected much more than this.

Aawww ;( okcan someone get a decent grab of the PS4 version and apply some post process sharpenign to it? Then maybe those downplaying it will really like it.
it is odd though - why would DICE sharpen the Xbox version and not the PS4 version? And why didn't DF take them to task for artificially sharpening the output? If you keep the output neutral, the user can choose to add sharpening on their TV. but if you sharpen in-engine, people can't choose to unsharpen it.
edit: is is fun though - the differences in rendering (sharpening, AA) cloud the discussion just enough so that anyone can spin their preference how they like. Seems like we'll need to wait for the next comparison to hope for a fair apples:apples comparison
Why does the X1 version appear to have sharper textures? That car gif with the dude, the gun looks much more sharper on Xbox.
Legit curious.

The best comparison
Things close up and further away both look much better on the PS4. No contrast fiddling, no DF meddling, nothing just the same shot used.
Lmao, so good, Ty for giggles...
You're just seeing things apprently. I trust my eyes and to me the Xbox One version looks better and its as imple as that. The PS4 version may look better on a huge 1080p tv but i only have a 32inch tv so why would i care about that.
With sharpening already being applied the Xbox One version is going to look terrible for those that already ramp up sharpen on their tv's.
The cynic in me says they did it to make the Bone version look "better" to brogamers and cause controversy and get more clicks, but it could be that they just fucked up.
What's the origin of the sharpening effect? DF's capture hardware, the Xbox One's upscaler or Dice's rendering engine for BF4 on the Xbone?
So? Don't n64 games run at 60?
Here is a video comparing PS4 and PC version:

AO is so hit and miss for me, sometimes it's great, sometimes it's disgusting, and looks more like objects are omitting blackness than casting shadows. Even a gun against a wall seems to just 'glow' black with some implementations.
I'm confused. Why is the above gif the complete opposite of this gif in the original post?
This leads us to a second issue that affects both console releases: gamma levels. We went into the review event having never hooked up our equipment to either next-gen platform before, and our tests with BF4 gave some curious results we want to revisit with the final game on retail hardware. Similar to the Xbox 360, Microsoft's new platform seems to enforce a colour push towards the lower end, leaving us with more saturated colours and deeper blacks. It's just cause to head towards Battlefield 4's brightness settings, but in the interest of a fair test we kept this at the default 30 per cent for all platforms.

This too. During gameplay they both trump each other at different parts. Framerate isn't even an issue here.
