^ Are they implying that backers will get the piece of the proffits? :O Was that ever a part of a deal before? I backed the game because I wanted to drive. :D

Also, consider removing the link from your post, its supposed to be only for official board discussion.

The link shouldn't work if someone doesn't have a forum account. Also, the announcement that the poll exists is public on their forum even if you don't have an account, I think.

Please correct me if I am wrong on either of these counts, however.

I just read that entire thread, devs know that this news cannot be contained.

I think that is awesome move, PC version will benefit much from it and SMS devs will have easier jobs by focusing on high-end assets. They even promissed some sort of "meaningful AMD optimization" when they were asked about possibility of Mantle support.

It's obviously the way to go from a gaming perspective. The release window they're talking about should be a good one too. Lots of buyers and probably little competition.

It's a decision for people like Blizzard and those with more than a night out infested in to the Project as it might change their (financial) return. But if that poll goes against what any of them wishes, they can always get their money back, so do hope we will go next-gen.

And if you haven't driven in a while, pick Derby GP, Free Practice, Formula C + R3 tire in set-up. The way you start out on a cold, stiff rubber, low grip tire, that after a few laps the tire slowly gets on to temperature, softer and more grippy, seriously awesome.

Yes, temperature changes play a big role in pCARS these days when devs are focused on tire testing. They changed tires several times for Formula Gulf1000, all the while I'm driving a league with it. :)

Overheated tires = hell

Yes , pcars is one of the only cases of actual crowdfunding...
Nearly every other kickstarter is just a glorified preorder where they take advantage of the fans to fund their game with no investement return for the backers and no real financial risk for the developer (and all the risk for the backers)

please please please. hope they release it at 60 fps rather then 30 though. also, as a none member, would someone mind, if allowed, posting the deets and present results?

Next gen voting results. It seems they are dropping the 360/PS3 versions and focusing on the PS4/XB1. Possible November 2014 release. Also talking about the possibility of using mantle. Steam box port is in the works

I imagine that's doable on next-gen. It's running damn near 60fps already on my PC (GTX-680) at max settings, and it's still very early, nowhere near fully optimized.

It makes sense to move up, given the timing. Releasing a PS360 game well after next-gen launch will result in some pretty miserable sales figures.

Game needs better force feedback and the engine noises lack a punch. Driving feels too sterile and clinical, I wanna feel a visceral punch when Im driving a fucking turbocharged car and Im not getting that.

So now that the game is on steam, what happen to the junior members after the game is released ? do we get a discount ?

Juniors were always getting a discount ("coupon", for whatever version/system you wanted) , so why do you think anything has changed with pCARS on Steam (missing the question, sorry).

That's why I went full member. I get a copy of the game when it's done, the end. No muss, no fuss.

Poor WiiU owners tho, missing on the first simmish driver which was set to finally appear on a Nintendo console.

Wii U is still on... for now. Hardware needs to pick though, which is pretty much what everyone is saying.

Is the Wii U version in doubt?

What's all this talk about? Did some issue came up concerning the Wii U version?
Also, why is low Wii U sales a problem for a crowd-funded game? Isn't the entire reason of such funding meant to support (smaller) devs so they can create games with much almost no financial risk? Of course, any dev would prefer a larger Wii U base to target, but ultimately, this game would be getting to market risk-free... in theory at least. On top of that, they'll have the PS360's mega-sized base as a 'safety net' to fall back on.

Am I missing something here? Perhaps my understanding of the nature of the funding is off? Anyway, is the reason for doubt(concerning the Wii U version) really about sales, or is that just speculation?

If you're not a member, I don't think people can answer those questions currently since that sort of information on the PCARs forum isn't public yet (as far as I know).

Your understanding of the nature of the funding is off.

The WMD project is nothing like Kickstarter, or in general terms "crowd sourced". There's an open book on development, and decision making is participated in by the users. There's also financial return on investment for users based on it's success, or failure. There's certainly nothing else like it in gaming, that's for sure.

The devs also have their own money in the pot, so the risk\reward is shared between everyone. It's in everyone's best interest to make the right decisions, and of course make the best game possible.

That next-gen poll specifically states that PC/WiiU development continues. (it only affects PS3/X360)

Where is the sudden Wii U-version-uncertainty originating from guys?

Thanks for the input, guys.

Although, I'm still not quite sure what specifically was said that caused alarm - for whatever version of the game. Clearly, I have a lot of catching up to do in this thread

NP, figured you meant something like it ;)

And with AJ finally starting to work on the tires that fit on cars that are more my thing, I could not resist trying one out. Picked the Vintage B test tire for the Lotus 49 and it is getting more to were I expect it should be. Meaning scary as hell, specially on the 1/3 of the lap on the Nordschleiffe when they were still cold and you dared to look at the accelerator pedal slightly to long ;)

Guys I want to give the developer my money for this game, I had no resources at the time of it's funding plus it was low on my radar. When is the next opportunity when I can do so, I want in on this train of awesome Sim Racing.

Great vid, markao. Hairball city.

Reminds me that I did some laps at Classic Spa last week in the GT40. Started dry transitioning into max storm. GT40, old Spa, pouring rain, *slick tires*. I don't know what I was thinking :) There isn't a greater challenge in all of sim racing though! Seriously, it was ridiculous. When you spin (if? lol no) and come to a stop, you can't even drive out of the grass because it's too slippery. For some dumb reason I decided to hit reset race like 50 times. I couldn't do a complete rain lap though. I left a beaten man!

I've got to try that Formula C combo you talked about. Hopefully tomorrow.

Nice driving.

Something about the fact that the 49 almost requires you to be sideways before you even enter fast corners pretty much bars me from driving it.

At last!

Supposed to be some time next year. Q2 last I read.
With the transfer (the votes are almost overwhelmingly towards it) to next-gen it looks like we're getting another delay to Q4 2014. "By November" is what they're aiming at, to be precise.

Was pretty fun to play the game after a bit over a month of absence; the Formula C is pretty great to drive, the Capri sounds pretty amazing and the Nurburing GP is probably one of the best looking tracks at the moment (especially a 24hr race there). Hopefully we'll start to see the career realized some point soon and proper multiplayer organizing, but at least it looks like they're producing cars at a faster pace and the physics are consistently getting better.

Hopefully they open up the buy-in again. I want in. :|

Good to hear. Can't wait to get back to the game, finally bought a new GPU so I'll probably be able to max out the game @ 60fps. Now I just need a wheel!

Graphics comparison in third person with the Formula 1 cars between F1 2013 and Project CARS. Its a lap to Monza with Ferrari F138 and Formula A, respectively.

Project CARS wins in graphics and F1 2013 nowadays the driving is better than Formula A, that is still green and movements are abrupt, but is on the right track.

This game still isn't out yet? Isn't it going to be over shadowed by the forza's and driveclubs on next gen systems? Cause i figured graphics were it's main appeal.
