the 10-more nextgen tag is ridiculous, am happier day after day of my ps3.
plus, if this will be jsut a mission, as it seems now, no way I'm paying even 20 bucks

So in the end there are two games? Konami wants us to pay two times?
Damn Im a huge fan of MGS and I will pay, they know my weakness. I hate them

No boxed next gen version, 10£ more expensive.

WTF Kojima?
Well, I suppose I will not support it.
Maybe I will buy the inevitable "Complete Edition" do MGSV for cheap in the future, maybe.

Wait what? It didn't say "no boxed PS4/bone versions" specifically right?

I want to pay full price for both games....

Really, really want this, but I'll wait to see what the content is before purchasing what appears to be a prologue. As it stands, it's like paying for a cinema ticket to watch the prologue of the movie
(Dark Knight Rises...)

If possible, I might wait until The Phantom Pain is released as well, so I can play it all at one point. Hopefully they'll do a full reduced pack containing both games.

Probably not, but here's hoping anyways.

$30 for a prologue mission and then $60 for the rest of the game? Do they think I was born fucking yesterday? I'll wait for the discounted GZ+PP steam package.

considering how expensive it is, and how clunky the gameplay is looking i think i'll wait until its released together with the phantom pain at a more reasonable price (and what i assume bug fixes etc).

$30 demoes/prologues will be the norm next gen huh? Or they'll force you to go digital in the hopes of a marginal digital discount on the full game later perhaps.

Hey guys you better buy this demo, otherwise Kojima might start playing hardball and threatening us by saying that he needs the demo money to finish the Phantom Pain.

Prices and release plans are weird to me but most of that isnt going to matter if the content is there to justify it. If this is a short, 5 hour intro, Ill be pretty irritated paying 30 bucks.

Paying extra 10 pounds for.... increased rez and aa and framerate is nothing to complain about? I can buy an entire game for 10 pounds.
I'll go out on a limb and say that you should probably see both finished versions before you decide on whether or not the extra 10 is worth it.

If the game was £30 across the board then this thread's response would be dramatically different. Why is no one complaining about all the PS3/360 games being priced 60 despite being inferior versions to their next-gen counterparts?

DAY 1.

Should have a PS4 by the time this is out. Hopefully it releases not too far from Second Son. The next gen tax isn't surprising when suddenly games are being sold for £50 + and this is seen as respectable smh.

What annoys me more than the £10 price increase or that there doesn't seem to be a boxed version is that the next-gen version is $29.99 in the US or £29.99 here, which is the equivalent of almost $48.

It will have more than just the saving Chico mission.

There's supposed to be Extra Ops, just like they showed us with the day time demo.
yes, they will hide 50 kero frogs and tell us to find them, did you like the extra stuff? buy pls that would be 30 dollars for the extra 30 frames, oh and no box, pls download this 200 gb file

I was hoping that they'd pack in the HD edition of Peace Walker with GZ, since the two are apparently so closely related.

No doubt.

Gotta get that 6-year dev cycle paid back one way or another.

Six years? At most it'll be four. Kojima was working on PW until 2010.

I can totally understand where people are coming from with the price issue.

Sounds like a lot but the true value won't be revealed until the reviews start coming.

If they suggest it's overpriced then there is only one way to show your disapproval and that is by not buying it.

Because they are the same games with the same assets. You know, essentially they cost the same to produce.

Got this & TPP pre-ordered, hope they do release a disc version
and why are people calling it a demo? the game is likely longer then BF3/4 & COD:BO2/GHOSTS combined.

Complaining about the price when you have no way of knowing how long this is makes you look silly.
Voice of reason here.

Because it's just the first mission of the main game. You'll likely end up replaying GZ when you start up TPP anyway.

The cynicism is almost palpable in here.

There is a lot of cynicism regarding the length of the game, especially considering we don't know for sure, and Kojima's idea of a "mission" could easily be huge. Metal Gear Solid 3 was two missions, remember?

At any rate, I'll probably just rent the boxed version for the PS3 then buy the full game for the PS4. I've kinda fallen out of love for the mainline series, but who knows? Maybe Ground Zero will convince otherwise.

Yes I'm sure that one area they have been showing is going to hold more than 20 hours of unique content. It just makes sense.

Can't help but chuckle at people complaining about no physical next-gen versions. Come on people, you've got to accept the future at some point.

As to whether $30 is too much for this... we'll have to wait and see. If it is only a couple of hours long then yes, it's pretty expensive. Who knows, maybe it will be a solid 10 hours or so... although somehow I doubt it...

I highly doubt it, Kojima would just include it with TPP if thats the case
the reason behind 2 separate games is more then likely because the prologue is big enough to stand on it's own.

In that case the higher specs of the PS4 and XB1 clearly aren't being utilized. Kojima is taking advantage of the new technology with his game and people are complaining because it cost more. Sound logic there.

Doubt what? You can see on the menu screen of the TGS demo that GZ is the first mission of TPP.

I'll be waiting for the full retail version that includes both games. I'm not paying $30 for an extended demo, and a digital release. It will eventually be on one disc, and in physical form.

Bad move Konami.

As someone whose username comes from MGS5, there's almost no way for Konami to justify this price.

!Speculation! Kojima Productions needs cash to fund all their ventures (LA, MGO, testing, bigger staff, Fox Engine). This is a great move to promote the game but the inner cynic in me says this is more about funding.
