I didn't get mine and contacted sony via email, after some back and forth they transfered the money directly to my account.
there seem to be some problems with the messaging service used to get the code to you (XMB, or group messages on vita).

Where can I do that? I also have not received mine.

You can use the touchscreen to control the camera, you can also pinch to zoom :)

I just tried it again. WTF, it didn't work the first time I played it and I tried several times because it is more intuitive. I am sure it didn't work.

Ok, I'll retract my statement, it works. I also might be crazy.

The left stick aiming is too wobbly (super sensitive) in castlestorm, I agree.

You can actually shoot by tapping on the screen although it doesn't tell you this. It does mention you can adjust the aim with the d-pad (for slight adjustments) - it's a bit slow and rigid but that's what it's for I guess - not a replacement though. Tapping is a bit too easy :)

Just finished the campaign earlier today, had a lot of fun with it but check out the demo if you're just curious.

I will be going back to play more, need all those stars and to have a go at multiplayer as well. First game in a while I played all the way through quite quickly, even got into the story ;)

I would say no. The story in the patapon games feel like dragon's crown. In other words, you wouldn't really notice if it wasn't even there.

thanks! I will probably start with the first one anyway, as I heard there's quite alot of difference between each of them. The only thing which makes me a bit nervous is the permadeath of patapon 1. Does that mean I will lose hours and hours of exp and item grinding if one of my characters dies?

When a Patapon dies it drops its cap on the ground you'll need to retrieve to respawn it, don't think items are ever lost with them. Teamwipes just get reset.

I dunno if it's just me, but it seems like the CMA is faster since the latest update.

Actually, it kind of is critical, but I'm not able to make comparisons without spoiling critical story points. And unfortunately I have to accuse you of ignorance because of it.

Okay then, whatever. I was a little hazy on the details of 999 when I played Virtue's Last Reward (read the summary on the wiki- might've replayed it if I owned a copy, but I only borrowed a friend's copy not long after it came out). I did get the references and connections
like Tenmyouji being Junpei, and the old lady being Akane/June, Free the Soul, (and the All-Ice/Alice thing, which I'm still slightly confused about. Is All-Ice Alice from the future sent back into the past? That's the only thing I can think of, but there are some issues with that theory) etc.
It really isn't a direct sequel- it's definitely indirect.
I get the sense that since the Free the Soul plot is continued (and they're the main antagonists) that you consider 999 vital, but that really lends itself to my The Hobbit comparison, because they were dealing with the same bad guys in that, except things were't clear- like the whole ring thing.
Also, why not just use spoiler tags to prove your point? I have yet to see anyone post any real reasons why 999 should be played before VLR.

My 64gb memory card just arrived :)
I ordered it last thursday night and today is friday so I am satisfied with the EMS express option (€11.80, insured+tracking, 3-4 days). They declared it as a memory card with a €5 value and as a gift for customs reasons if anybody is interested.

Overall, I am very happy with Nippon Yasan and can recommend them.
Now I just need to wait 13:30 hours to backup my stuff, I wonder how long the restoration will take, lol.

It's the relationships between the characters that makes the first game a Fellowship of the Ring. The
revelation with the ax-crazy Clover, the entire mystery about Alice which you somehow seemed to miss the one line that explains it, and the relationship between Junpei and Akane
all just adds a layer of depth and complexity that just makes the story outright better if you experience it yourself in the first game instead of just jumping right into the second one, and you can't claim otherwise.

More sales means more localization.

PS3?

Are there notable differences between the PS3 and the PS Vita version?
Edit: Is it me or is the gameplay very repetitive which consist of 3 combo attacks and a charge up one?
Edit2: Combat kinda picks up after the stripping combo hahaha.

Damn. This is the kind of game I wanna play on the Vita and not in the living room. If you know what I mean. :p

At the beginning of the first video you can see the ps3 keyboard, and imo the higher resolution is visible.
I dunno about differences, i guess that screens and trailers always shown the ps3 version.

After 465 deaths, I've finally beaten Spelunky. One of my favorite games of the whole generation. I also finished Hotline Miami, which is really good and challenging.

Anyone here played Knytt Underground? Is it any good?

Knytt games in general are very atmospheric, definitely worth it IMO. If you're not sure, you can always download the free PC version.

This is just beyond silly. The three Lord of the Rings books constitute one continuous story with largely the same main cast. 999 and VLR are quite obviously not. While I'm not sure how useful the Hobbit/999 comparison is, dismissing it while promoting the Fellowship one is dumb.

Anyone here played Knytt Underground? Is it any good?
I enjoyed it. But beware that it's more about open ended exploration in an atmospheric environment than following a clear narrative. Though when I did start to long for some direction, I found pulling up a trophy guide and following it helped a lot.

hilarious that Sega is localizing & releasing such a creepy, niche title and it's fans still aren't pleased

no wonder we never got PSO

Best way to play Soul Sacrifice is the 1HP +ATK Sigil and never get hit.

I played a glass cannon offline and a helper online, wish Delta would fix the annoying Holy/Sacrifice black and white DEF/ATK system.

i want to play a glass cannon, tell me more about your approach

You should play PS1 and PSP games over native Vita ones for better battery life.
That's a very good idea actually.

I also have 2 portable chargers I planned on bringing with me in addition to the normal charger, but I am very much prepared for the reality that I may not have it the entire plane ride.

Sacrifice everything.
Save only as needed.
Use spells that you're comfortable with based on the attacks of the archfiend you're hunting.

If you have trouble at first, Save a bit more to get your life up, then lower it later in the game once you've learned patterns and such.

I hope they figure out a better way to incorporate the Saving and Nuetral paths

Going the Sacrifice route was really the only viable way to play to ensure battles didn't break the 30 minute mark.

Nuetral gets pretty good sigils for golems though right?

i've only been sacrificing, so i'm doing well there. can't wait for ps+ to upgrade my demoooo

I had my vita plugged into the charger all night and just found out it hasn't been charging at all. Both ends of the plug are definitely all the way in, so I'm really worried about what's going on here. I've only had this thing for a month.

Have you tried just using the USB cable into your computer or another AC adaptor?

I dunno. My char is 99 divine and you can dish out some decent damage with the right set up. When doing damage I use blood and force damage amp digits and the strongest blood spell from beating the final boss. The I use a blanket and golum of the monsters weakness. Can rip through most monsters pretty fast that way.

Nope but wow I'm an idiot. Problem was that the part going into the vita was upside down. Now I have the symbol facing up and all is well.

Wow. hahaha that was lolworthy reason for not working.

Good thing that the Vita wasn't actually broken

I just experience a power shortage for a few seconds. Its kinda getting scary with the strongest super typhoon looming around our country.

What sigil setups are you employing?

Would love to see more alternative setups like this just to get an idea of whats possible

That's pretty much what I use too. The attack boosting tree also helps.

Okay so I'm gonna platinum the shit out of Soul Sacrifice. What's the fastest way?

Should I go straight to 99/1 or 1/99 build or should I keep my neutral build?

Seems like this setup would put you at a disadvantage against certain monsters like Griffon and Phoenix

I went 80/20 offense and only used Arrows with their respective stacked bonus sigils.

Was the best setup for nearly all occasions for me except for wyverns (which seem resistant to arrows somehow)

I have yet to fight all the bosses though and I need a completely different setup for tackling Leviathan

It's been a few months since I played it but off the top of my head

+100hp (can be switched with 25% force)
+40% (?) Force
+90% boost to self heal (I use heal over time spells)
+90% blood
+350hp and 50(?)% defence

You can switch the heal one out for a weaker blood sigil to boost this further as well as the bottom one for an additional damage boost. However since I was mainly fighter all the DLC 10 star bosses I liked the extra defence for when I inevitably had to save all the people who went mainly sacrifice but can't dodge.

The blood spell does crazy damage like this all while blankets and golum pound away as well.

I remember in several double boss fights I would go off and "tank" the other boss and by the time they killed the other one I had already almost killed my one.

I really should try this build next time. Sounds interesting

Replying to this one instead of the original, but here's some tips to get the platinum:

Sacrifice heavy is definitely the easier/less grinding path. Since you need to go 99/1 or 1/99 at somepoint, 1/99 is definitely quicker and easier, since you'll be sacrificing scrub creatures constantly to replenish spell count.
Always tweak your sigils based on your elements.
Always use sigils that improve your most heavily used spells.
If you're good enough, use the resolute sigil.
Find a good group to play with so if you do use the resolute sigil and slip up, someone can pick you up. Or bring 1 AI with you. Just make sure it's not one of the dickbag ones who sacrifice you immediately if you drop. ;)
Find AI partners that have solid core offerings and use them constantly for a bit if playing offline. Having a decent AI to be a distraction and do some damage while being a safety valve (as described above) can be priceless.

Well on flying bosses I switched golum and blanket from thrown and explosive.

Alternatively I just go online with my three time sands set up plus heal over time spell and just stun lock the monster while others kill it. Took out a 10 star Valkyrie with it never even getting an attack off (one other guy occasionally helped heal me and had 2 pure damage chars on the team). Was pretty funny.

90/10 + force boost + attack tree + Sanguine Cannon has worked out well for me so far. You can just go crazy and rush at enemies with blood shooting out of your arm without ever having to worry about dying.

Also, the sacrifice-focused (offensive) builds were significantly nerfed after the patch. Those attack-boosting sigils used to boost attack based on percentage, but now it's just by points. For example, the Resolute Sigil would have brought your attack at 1/99 to 750 points pre-patch, but now it only brings your attack to 450. The defensive sigils are still based on percentage though the last time I checked.

woooooh patapon is good! played 2 hours of it and already feel addicted.
some questions:
1. when I use defend command, do only the axe guys defend and all other still attack? seems this way to me.
2. what happens when I lost some patapons and retreat? will I get the patas back of which I've collected the caps?
3. do patapons level up or is the breeding system the progression-system?

all for now. pata pata pata PON

Might be the best place to ask - I got a brand new Vita today very, very cheap and am looking for a memory card for it. Is the 64GB the best value and where should I be importing from?

Depends.
I have a 32gb card for sale in the B/S/T thread and am asking $60 shipped (continental US).

If you think that's not going to be enough and just want to buy a 64gb and get it over with you can try:

YesAsia.com
Nippon-Yasan.com (this is where I bought mine)
PlayAsia.com

And there are a few more too (cdjapan? amiami?), I think.
Those will probably run you $95-$120 depending on the site and the shipping you choose.

It's amazing if you like the genre. Only game I kept playing after I platinumed it. That says a lot to me.

Same -- I'm waiting for Cyborg to get his save fixed to try to finish out the last DLC/patch quests. Although I don't think it has anything to do with genre. Most people throw it in the same genre as MH although it plays totally different. Most people consider MH to be the gold standard for "hunting" games. I cannot play MH... and yet, I LOVED SS.

Are you a US PS+ subscriber? If so, you won't have to wait long. :p

The (almost dead) OT is in the Community section, by the way. I'm expecting a slight boost in activity after the game goes free.

I'm from EU, so no freebie for me.

I tried the demo and it was really cool. Finished the story chapters and tried some Avalon Pacts available. Really cool game, and it can only improves played with people :)

If there was a sigil that gave you offering charges when you saved like the opposite of the finale sigil it would be so much better. I use it so much I can't justify giving it up.

No freebie for us so far. The guy on the EU blog said something about next month's PS+ titles being announced next week. Plus we should be getting news about the "yearly" IGC titles in the coming months. Given that SS is both a first party game and a game that has a sequel/semi-sequel coming up in the not too distant future, I think there's a good chance of it showing up in the EU PS+ selection sooner rather than later as well..

EDIT: I already own the game myself (even platinumed it which is a first for a retail title for me, because I enjoyed it so much). It's very good, so I definitely don't wanna discourage you from getting SS regardless of its chances of showing up on PS+. It's not a hugely expensive game either way, and there's a lot of bang for your buck (Euro) in there, so you should at least consider it. :)

I see the issue of Miku due to the timing of the western release. The game will be well over a year old by the time it comes out, and it has a direct followup on the platform announced to be in development for release next year. This is in addition to the fact that the PS3 port will have been out in western regions for months, with the Vita version unlikely to launch at a budget price (sub $20) or contain any additional content.

Being old to JP, does not make the game not new, for the west. It wasn't released for Vita in NA territory. Thereby the game is new.

You could argue "PS3", sorry I don't own one.

Super Mario is timeless.

Why are we arguing that games are LESS GOOD solely by release date?

A good game is a good game, worthy of play. Regardless of age.
