Welp, looking like this 'resolution gate' shit is going to be a theme that will be played out for the course of the generation. But hopefully the tools will improve and we will start to see better results as the system matures. My guess is that this will easily be the case. At least to a degree.

Personally, I can deal with it as I care more about the games than the resolution. But then seeing games like Ryse at launch is all the proof I need that there will also be plenty of eye candy on the system. Even at 900p, that game is arguably the best looking launch title out of the lot. So don't tell me that the system will not be capable of wowing us on the visual front. As it already is.

People can't tell the difference anyway

Sit further away from your TV

720p was intentional for balance

Some people say 720p looks better than 1080p

It about the gameplay not graphics anyway

Have you seen Titanfall?

Am I doing it right???
And check out Forza in glorious 1080p!....not that it makes a difference or anything...

I am no MS fan, check my post history, I won't ever own one for reasons other than silly resolution issues (and really, if you care about resolution and frame rate, get a mid range PC you can game at 1080P till your heart's desire), but what you're saying is just ridiculous. People will buy the console they want for the GAMES they want to play. Simple as that. Bottom line is neither PS4 nor Xbone are impressive, they are middling systems, PS4 just happens to be middling+ is all. As a PC gamer I could tell you buying a PS4 is a joke when that 400 dollars will get you a graphics card which destroys the PS4 AND get you access to thousands of cheaper games, hell for 300 dollars you can get a graphics card which destroys it. So you should come down from your high horse for a moment. Xbone is weaker than PS4, it's been made ABUNDANTLY CLEAR with every other thread in this forum at the moment, but people will buy it based on the games they like. To me PS4 has a horrible line up, but I won't tell people to not buy it, because they may like Killzone or Knack of whatever other crap Sony is serving, just like folks may like Halo or Forza.

And also you should NEVER want a major platform to fail, not Sony, not Wii U, not Xbone. Why? because each one plays a vital role in the market you as a gamer should care about, and if any of them collapses it'll bring the entire thing to its knees.

Serious question. Could you name the $300 & $400 graphic cards that DESTROY the PS4 you mentioned?

Personally I agree with MS that in the end of the day it i about the games. I also agree that when you are playing games that you properly wouldn't notice the difference(unless you have a PS4 next to it).

PS4 is better sharper/looking but not VHS -> DVD better. But since the PS4 is capable of running 1080p it also means it should be able to handle more details, complexer AI or physics etc when it runs on the same resolution as the X1. PS4 is just the more powerful console so unless you want to play a exclusive there is not a reason to buy the xbox one. I will not get the xbox one at launch I will wait for the cheaper version, the slim one without kinect :).

Microsoft already has a game for 1080p enthusiasts, resolutions are like genres - why wouldn't you want more variety in your gaming? I'm getting worried I'll grow tired if I have to play every game in 1080p...

I'm truly sorry. MS is obviously fucking you, and you are taking it like a champ. Good thing you don't realize that you are not going next gen, and only getting a slight bump from current gen. Be sure to keep your decade old TV so the games at least look a bit better than a Wii U game.

Wow.

FYI, I have a 2012 1080p LED backlit TV.

Remember the time, in WiiU thread, guys were hoping for a cheap next gen that wouldn't create that much of a gap ? Well that was almost true. Alas Sony had to be the party pooper!!!

Saw a Video that was posted a while back on the X1 version, If anything the PS4 version looks blurrier. look at youtube I will find a link, of course youtube vids are compressed but it looks great to me in 1080. I watched vids for both versions to determine which one i should purchase.

Thanks. Christmas shopping... done!

You've even got your red and green decorations covered with those two posts. In all seriousness though I don't know if there's a better price on a 770 4GB card, I just linked the first one. The I need a New PC OT is the best place to ask your question.

Who cares about resolution. Xbox users are gonna have a dominos pizza tracker, fantasy leagues, or porn snapped to the screen anyway. Immersive full screen gaming is old hat.

Consoles are on their way out, and all of this is just the beginning of the massacre that is about to take place. It is very true that everyone should get a PC, as that is the only platform that has a definite future. I am just laughing at all the people that are tricked into buying an XBone due to misinformation by ignorant parties loyal to the XBox brand.

To your failure argument, it's not 1993 anymore. There is no need for competing consoles when the PC has by far the lowest prices on games, the most competition on the singular platform and the best experience possible. Exclusives for consoles are keeping competition at bay and prices artificially high for everyone, that is a fact. Competing consoles in 2013 are bad for everyone. Sad that you and others still have a mindset that is 2 decades old. Try and get a clue before attempting to make an argument, don't make yourself look silly.

no reason to go 4gb either. video card memory would only really matter atm for like 1440p+ resolution which you shouldn't be getting a 770 for anyways.

You need more than graphics card to play games.

You should also not that both ps4 and x1 will share most of the same GAMES. As third parties not only make up a vast majority of both lineups, but they're much more popular than exclusives.

As a PC gamer you should also note that a $300-400 video card is not going to access anything, as you know an actual PC needs a psu that can take that video card, a case, mobo, OS to access those thousands of games, hdd, input/output, cpu, ram, etc. And the markup of having it prebuilt or the knowledge of doing it yourself.

I'm certainly no expert, but people who I listen to have said that 4GB is going to be very important soon for PC graphics card. Something about buffer something fill rate or something 1080p battlefield 4 and 2+gb already. I have no idea.

Even if he could, it's irrelevant. You can't play games on a graphics card alone, and no $400 PC is going to be getting optimized versions of every major release for the lifespan of the consoles. PC-GAF can sound delusional at times.

You may be somewhat right. Maybe a lower resolution looks much better when it is snapped down and only taking up 2/3 of your screen? Your full TV Screen is 1080p, not 2/3 of it. So maybe these games are built for balance, so they look great when they are snapped and when they are full screen.

Why are people bringing gameplay up? its the same game we are talking about. I find it funny when people have done this over this whole resolutions gate, we are always talking about the same game gameplay the lot its not a choice between gameplay and res.

You're right it's not only a video card, but if you're doing some real gaming on your PC, odds are you have a decent PSU, you have around 8 GB of RAM already and if you have any semi modern CPU your CPU can handle whatever next gen is throwing at you, especially if you goal is simply 1080P with stable frame rate on high, which would be better than the consoles.

Everyone acts like you need to completely rebuild your PC from scratch. Not the case at all. Generally you will need a GPU/memory upgrade first and it'll last you 3 to 4 years before you need to upgrade your CPU/motherboard.

I built my PC in 2007 and the only thing I've upgraded is my graphics card and I'm still in a better place than consoles.

I also built my PC in 2007 and the motherboard and CPU are horribly out of date and would have to be completely replaced to play modern games. So would the RAM, OS and probably the hard drive which is on its last legs.

Well it can just upscale and a lot of people actually like the look of the upscaled better so it's no problem at all I don't know what the fuss is about.
