QFT!
Knack on the WiiU looks great!
Wait, what? You must be awful at Mario games then.
Super Luigi U was definitely challenging but everything else was a piece of cake. I certainly wouldn't put it up there as one of the more challenging series.
You seem to be in defensive mode this week. Will you be the same way next week if the reviews for the X1 exclusives aren't universally praised?Knack goes from ignored launch game to a 1400+ reply thread because of bad reviews. Interesting.
I seem to be in defensive, "mode", huh? Maybe I need to look at my own post history. You seem to be in defensive mode this week. Will you be the same way next week if the reviews for the X1 exclusives aren't universally praised?
After watching the Giant Bomb quick look I think I'm still going to get this. The combat encounters look like they require a little bit of strategy. The environments look simple yet seem to have some wonderful textures and high poly counts. Plus 10 hours for a launch platformer sounds great to me.
That post didnt look defensive to meYou seem to be in defensive mode this week. Will you be the same way next week if the reviews for the X1 exclusives aren't universally praised?
I have close friends who found Gravity boring, which made scratch my head about as much. Tastes, one of the biggest mistery/treasure of humanity.I really wanted to love 101 but it just never clicked with me.

lol, right? It's beyond ridiculous how some people tried to act like GAF was overhyping Knack in threads that barely reached 5-6 pages. Now the game is released, reviews are largely negative and there's at least 5 times more attention given that than the game itself ever received here. The Knack OT isn't even a third as long as this thread yet.Knack goes from ignored launch game to a 1400+ reply thread because of bad reviews. Interesting.
I dunno if he's defensive, but he ain't wrong either.EagleEyes said:You seem to be in defensive mode this week.

GAF was overhyping Knack and tried to turn Cerny into a God/meme..
The man's accumulating failures for Sony. Vita, Knack and... PS4? We'll see about the last one..

Ugh, the GB player is fucking horrible.
Did enjoy the QL though, the game looks OK (if unremarkable).
So I'm assuming you can quickly cite posts of people that explicitly said they expected this to be like Mario? I'm not fully caught up with this thread, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone express that expectation in any of the other Knack threads. Certainly not anywhere near "a lot".
I meant the video player, not Jeff. You haven't played it. It's that difficult.
Source: I've played it.
Meanwhile on Wii U:
Not even trying hide your trolling, wow
Yes, it isWait is that 3D world?
Yes, it is
Holy shit, I miss judged that game.
Meanwhile on Wii U:
So why are people comparing knack (which looks like a brawler) and mario (a platformer)?
Yeah, let's compare it to The Wonderful 101.
(I joke, I feel bad for Knack somewhat)
Well w101 got bad reviews too. However its an insanely good game (just look up saur's videos on youtube)

I see so many people misunderstanding what Knack is. The best comparison is Ratchet and Clank. Both have few platforming sections and focus more on combat however Knacks has much fewer rpg mechanics.
Knack is not trying to be a hack and slash game.

Since it's a launch game i'll probably sell good enough to make a better sequel.
Wow now THAT looks great! Close to getting a WiiU just for 3-5 games in it's lifetime.
It wouldn't compare favorably to that game either...
Best not to compare it to any games and take it on its own.
w101 isnt trying to be a hack and slash game either. its more in line with the original DMC, DMC 3 or Bayonetta imho
Free on PS+ within four months I'm guessing.
A shame, it's pretty. Glad I didn't change my NFS preorder to this.
It is interesting because they did the same thing with nba2k14 because of graphics (then found out they hated sports games), killzone (then found out there isn't much substance after the graphics), lauded the controller as the best thing ever and said the xbox one controller was shit (then I held it and found it to be more than acceptable), obviously cerny/knack combo of greatness, laughed at the xb1 for not having 3d playback but then didn't care when sony announced the same thing.
All in all pretty damn entertaining when taken over the long haul. Needless to say I learned quickly that anything said here needs to be taken with a shaker if not a basketful of salt.
I will say it again. Its not trying to be a hack and slash game.

I'm talking about your own suggestion, Ratchet and Clank.
Wait what?... Knack has been ridiculed left and right on neogaf for as long as i can remember... and now the press is joining on the bashing party, because unless the platforming game has "Mario" in the title then it reviews like fresh doo doo.
Don't feel such an overbearing need to live up to your forum name. Trying to accuse GAF of overhyping a game that never managed anything longer than 10 pages before this thread is laughable. The Cerny affiliation bought the game some benefit of the doubt, at best, but hardly anyone was expecting it to be a massive hit or critical darling. You're really out of touch if that's what you think amounts to overhyping for this crowd.GAF was overhyping Knack and tried to turn Cerny into a God/meme..

And you have to be yanking my chain to use the semantics excuse since you can't actually cite anyone comparing this game to Mario in any notable fashion, because practically no one has actually done that.Lijik said:Not explicitly Mario but you have to be yanking my chain if you think people havent been comparing it to the very Mario-esque platformers of the PS1 days like Crash.
If you want to argue semantics fine to win a dumb argument or something, fine I guess no one has compared it to Mario. You win.
