LOL why would he? Because he isn't in hype meltdown like the rest of us? Give the guy a break...

Going out of his way to troll the game since its announcement is a bit different than "not being in a hype meltdown". I also don't see why he should be banned though, all he managed to do was making a fool out of himself.

Mario is about platforming, first and foremost. I'm much happier for EAD to use this free-floating level design rather than any specific setting. It gives them free reign to create whatever the hell they want, and that can only be good.

I also never umderstand Speiler Eins' lament that this is just a "3D Land sequel". Even if it was (it clearly isn't), so what? 3D Land is exactly how all 3D Mario's should be forever more: Tight platforming, inventive level design and free reign for Koizumi and co to make whatever springs to mind - unbounded by an overarching theme or setting.

At least Knack wins the look/art category. Not that it matters anyway.

really? i've always kind of thought the opposite. i feel like this mario is to pixar, as knack is to... one of those companies that make crummy looking cgi movies while trying desperately to be pixar.

mario is a touching story about a boy and his toys/father and son/robot and robot wife

knack is talking circus animals who make this face o_O

I wonder how many people are going to pick up Wii U's because of this game.

Probably not too many. It will sell well to current owners and then well see how Wii U does this Nov and Dec considering the new consoles are out. And this comes from someone who is buying the game. not a troll.

Because not everyone agrees that all 3D Marios should follow the same formula "forever."

Dude, I'm with you. I loved those games, but looking back, there's so much more stuff that I didn't get to finish. I think I beat them both with the bare minimum of required stars. Not sure why. I was in college and didn't know any better, I guess.

I think I'm going to boot up Galaxy 2 again to get pumped. Because hey, why not.

I definitely had the idea that I would get the required stars, finish the game, and save the un-played levels for a drought but I've dropped the ball on going back.

Tonight, it's on.

I think Galaxy 2 is the fastest I've ever 100%'d a game. I beat everything in it within 48 hours except the final star which took like 100 tries to get. I never beat games that fast but 3D Marios are my weakness.

Of course, but you would agree there is nothing inherently wrong about being disappointed to see an IP you like be turned into something else, regardless of how said IP originally came to be?

No, I can get where you're coming from. There's room for the two styles to coexist, and I think this actually represents a good chance for Nintendo to intentionally position the more exploratory style of game as its own distinct thing and finally elaborate on SM64's free roaming gameplay like some people keep asking for.

Look I really enjoyed Knack (alot).... with that said, this looks insane and way ahead of Knack in terms of everything going on. Sorry PS4 folk.

No?
Because I really thought he was banned, I didnt see them since some weeks ago. I didnt even know he posted in the Iwata asks thread.

And not in meltdown hype? he can sate his opinion, but he is mostly trolling in every mario thread, wouldn't surprise me if he is banned one of this days.

I've found that website to be trash regardless of score. They are extremely inconsistent, seems like something's afoot to me.

I used to like them a lot (Destructoid, that is), but lately they've been all over the damn place. I guess I need to find a reliable review site again.

Oddly enough, I think GamesRadar aligns the most with my opinion. Wow, that feels weird saying.

Anyhow, the sites that I trust have all said great things about this, so I really could care less what some others say. Also, it looks like Gamespot has finally decided that they are going to rate Nintendo games out of 9 instead of 8. Woo.

Holy sheet at these scores. I never pay attention to reviews but it's hard to not validate my interest in this game when it's getting so universally praised.

I was debating between wiiu/ps4&xbone but after comparing the launch titles with the current library of wiiU am sure I'll go with Nintendo first.

I love galaxy games more than any "cinematic" AAA games anyway and the reviews for 3D World just puts it over the edge. I wanna play this game more than I wanna own a PS4 or XBone.

Not at all surprised. The latest trailers had "the most fun you'll have this year" written all over them.

A little curious where the full point deduction came from with Polygon's review, though. Because she missed a few jumps due to the perspective? Ehhhh.

Don't feel bad guys, I still have one star remaining in Galaxy
before I would have a chance of unlocking Luigi.

And way too many to count in Galaxy 2.

Is it just me or (perhaps in typical Ninty fashion) is the marketing bizarre and a bit unfocused for this game? I'm thinking of being able to preplay the game during E3 at Best Buy and since then at Pottery Barn, Family commercials (the pitch, friends, and siblings commercials), and IGN Up At Noon appearance (typically PS/Xbox territory).

The one ALBW commercial I saw was good but it was a throwback one to 90s commercials. 3D World seems to have gotten the biggest push of all their games, but Nintendo, but since it's all over the place and not focused on any one group, it seems rather small compared to other game company ad pushes.

The tweet after that shows that this won't necessarily be unwarranted:

"Beat it in 8 hours, levels are quite short, multiplayer is kind of pointless."

what

He's probably referring to the main adventure, which can certainly be completed in 8 hours. But if you want to get everything (and visit all the worlds) then it's probably closer to 15 or so.

Edit: Or if you suck at finding stamps like me, then maybe like 20. LOL. Just ask the dude from GameXplain, I emailed him about finding the last stamp because I was so stuck on it. :)

The game is getting fantastic scores, and I can wait to download it first thing 9:00 pm Thursday (Pacific Time).

But seriously, why the need to denigrate Knack? It's scores aren't great but plenty of people are getting enjoyment out of it. Don't see why it needs to be used as a foil to prop up Mario 3D World. Mario doesn't need that help.

It takes a lot longer than 20 hours to get the last stamp.

Also Hisstocrat's music is the shizz. That's the big band jazz (Sing Sing Sing -ish) song you hear last in that 10 things trailer. It might be my favorite in the game along with the credits theme.

Sorry, I mean the last stamp of the main adventure. I misarticulated my point ;-)

All these people in this thread talking about Knack, with their Wii U's with their old games. You can't even play Knack. Who do you think you are? And the thing is, Knack is a good game. It's deep. The story is serious. The characters look cool. Knack is going to take us into a new generation of experience.
