Remote play update:

PS4 wifi on, Vita wifi on - PS4 main menu works very well, but there are quite a few graphical glitches and lag when playing Resogun. Sometimes Resogun doesn't even get past the loading screen before I get some "connection is too slow" error.
PS4 wifi off, Vita wifi off - No go. It seems that the Vita's Wifi has to be on for remote play to work. This is what I was doing wrong before.
PS4 wifi off, Vita wifi on - Everything works well. Resogun runs very smoothly on the Vita, and input lag is minimal. I'm going to assume this is what people mean by direct link.

I'm seriously impressed. Now I just have to wait for my first retail game to arrive.

I couldn't stop laughing :p

not sure if posted.... but here are IGN's "first 60 minutes" impression

and based off of early impressions from the OT - this game gon' be gud

Did they just start reviewing it?

Review embargo lifts at 3 AM EST, so we should start seeing reviews early tomorrow. I just finished up mine...it's about as glowing as can be, and hopefully I'm not some crazy outlier.

I'm always down for more VitaGAF buddies. Deicides is me.

Just traded in Adventure time for some PSN credit. Does anybody have impressions on Breakquest Extra Evolution?

It seems like other people with review copies have been saying the same things. I hope this game really does turn out good.

It's a freemium game -- try out the demo. I vaguely remember someone from VitaGAF saying they got 100% of the trophies without spending a cent.

Oh, and if we're doing the whole friend request stuff again, I'd love to have more Vitabros (and Vitagals/Vitasistas/whatever the non-gendered term would be) on my list. My PSN name is the same as my GAF one -- just let me know who you are here on GAF in your friend request!

I still don't understand why Bluetooth alone doesn't work. :/

The same reason why you can't just randomly use your cellphone BT headset on the PS4, I think. Whatever Sony's internal design decisions were for that apply...

It's probably possible... but between drivers and protocols, they probably figured it was easier to write the APIs for the existing adhoc type connections over WiFi.

So what's the consensus on Batman: Blackgate?

It's mediocre. The biggest problem is the weird 3D leveldesign paired with a 2.5D gameplay which leads to a confusing exploration thanks to a useless worldmap.
The combat is also boring.
My and others impressions are in the OT: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=700600

The game sucks. Got over 2000 free balls for the F2P version from an error they made and am not enjoying the game at all. So happy I didn't buy it.
The artstyle is ugly, the music isn't good and the leveldesigns are annoying. So they practically did everything possible wrong with a brick breaker game they could. Just try the free version if you are still interested.

Do we have any idea or confirmation of first party studios working on Vita titles? Or at least can we expect some quality mid tier games like Tearaway in recent future?

I have checked upcoming page on Metacritic, and it's depressing.

I'm planning to buy Killzone bundle, but i'm afraid my heart wont be able to take another hit after premature death of DC :)

Also, is it wise to buy Mercenaries just for single player?

Fuck

Got to Olmec in Spelunky.
Four hearts.
A jet pack.
40 bombs.
7 rope.
4 minutes on the clock.

Then I get squashed like a dumbass. ;_;

Ew. Will pass.

It's a breakout game. You get 33 balls for free and once you run out you have to pay for more (apart from RARE earned balls). You get regenerating shields that block both halves of the bottom of the screen so it's fairly easy in that regard (and very possible to go through the game losing almost no lives), but what personally drives me nuts is the bug that gets the ball stuck under the paddle, and the seemingly intentional nose-dives the ball makes straight down when it touches anything just to make you lose it.

It's better than traditional breakout in that you can actually force the ball's descent by pressing O (as well as curve the ball to hit that last remaining object) which is fun, but the game is very visually distracting and tedious (some objects take like 10 hits). Worth a try, it's free and you can beat it for free.

Ohh, you're Decides. Yeah, you definitely have a Vita.

I know that feel, bro. With every failure you will get closer to victory. Keep at it!
Besides, there's more fun to be had even after you've conquered Olmec >:]

Yeah, same issue with getting to
hell
as well. Every time I get close, I do something dumb like entering the
alien spaceship

I still don't understand why Bluetooth alone doesn't work. :/

The reason is actually quite simple: Bluetooth can't transfer nearly as many bits as WiFi. The video stream and controls would just be too much for it.

Oh, good news, though. I turned off WiFi on my PS4, and Remote play worked pretty perfectly. Played a half hour of Resogun and had a blast. Guess I'll get an Ethernet cable now and power line adapters when I can afford it.

It's not optimal, but you could run with the setup I used to use if you can't manage to get the eth connection near your PS4 -- you can use a wireless AP as a bridge to your wireless network. You don't get the benefit of being connected by wired directly to the modem/router you normally would, but it would still free up your PS4 so that it's not using WiFi and fucking with your ability to remote play.

I used to have a Wireless AP running DD-WRT and had a 4-port ethernet hub attached to it. Xbox360 and PS3 were cabled into the hub. The AP was a client on the actual main router in another room. Worked pretty well... but then I had my electric redone at home and had cable run to a bunch of places in the house -- after that, I had to move the router/modem to near where the PS3/x360 were for other reasons... so I got rid of the extra hops.

I might when I get bored of Tearaway. I like score attack games but I hate the idea of paying for extra balls. The version I was looking at has unlimited which is cool I guess, but the fact that the pay for balls model exists is gross to me.

Yeah man that's me. I wish I could change my ID, it would stop a lot of confusion.

Stick it to the man has a line I never EVER expected to hear in a video game played on a Sony system.

Hopefully the pink arm control on the Vita will be more comfortable with touch controls.

Interesting Tizoc hope you're enjoying it! I'm a bit stretched thin so I thought I'd wait till December to grab it. No working ps3 either, even though I saw your thread for the discount. It does look good though, should be fun to play.

Very good! They aren't too expensive at all here btw, bit of an upside.
I'm using access points here but damn I hate them and hated setting them up!

Are we expanding our VitaBro friends lists? Yuss! I don't think I've ever posted it here before ( I have no vitabros ;_;) but my PSN is haykesa, lemme know who ya are! I play a decent amount of Wipeout 2048 and Hot Shots Golf World Tour (I'll get KZ:M soon, promise).

BTW, under two hours until the IGN review for Tearaway goes live...I can't wait damnit. I need any and all hype for this game to hold me over until Friday.

EDIT: And soul sacrifice too ._.

I only played the first 3 chapters which for the most part serve as getting the player used to the controls and how the gameplay works, I expect it to start opening up shortly. I was also a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitle sleepy at the time but enjoyed the dialog and what I played.

Oh ANOTHER thing I liked has to do with traditional 2D games, this isn't a major spoiler but it's one that might nudge one to get the game
when you start controlling Ray, I first went to the left and saw a path, I then went to the right and found the path blocked. The NPC at that area then remarks something along the lines of 'Strangely enough your house is located to the LEFT, really weird huh?'

Just got a PS Vita, really enjoying it, even if my favorite game so far is a PSP game ;).

Anyways, if anyone wants to add me, my PSN ID is TheDragonMask. I've never really played much multiplayer on Sony consoles, so I have plenty of room for friends.

Edit: (a post I made on a thread specifically talking about this issue, but it might be dead, any help would be appreciated)

The PS Vita I got from the Radioshack deal that was floating around a while ago has this, and not just on black screens. While playing Castlevania: the Dracula X Chronicles, I can notice some "greening" on stage 2, with the dark background at the beginning. I'm wondering if I should return it for a refund (of $159.99) and wait for a black friday deal or what? Unfortunately, I don't have the cash to jump on any deal that is close or equivalent to the deal I already got, which means I might just be giving up $40 if I return it early to have money at the ready. if I borrowed some money I could theoretically do it, but I want to know what the general opinion here is.

I can notice the green tinting pretty easily at night, when the screen is displaying just black. But I can also notice it affecting the bar at the top of the screen in the PS Vita's OS just a little bit at all times. I think I can notice it in the sidebar on the browser as well.

I just want to know if you guys think I've happened upon an "unlucky" one, and if usually PS Vita screens aren't blotchy enough to be noticed in anything but extreme dark and completely black screens.

Also, someone earlier said that the "mura effect" as its called can get less noticeable over time? Is that true? Thanks.

Soul Sacrifice which is going to be free this month is a good place to start, lots of awesome co-op to be had.

Just made a new master account to get out of the sub account cycle of shame. I would love to get some VitaCats on my friends list. Send a request over to JakeNoseIt if ya like! Starting Saturday I'll be doing a lot of PS4 stuff too

By the by, I just borrowed SFxT and KZ: Mercs from work. If anyone plays either of those online I may be up for a thrashing sometime soon (maybe not KZ as the online ticket might be off-limits).

I played SFxT on PS3 for a while, but was pretty terrible and didn't have anyone to play with locally (Japan time). Hoping I can get into the portable version a little, as despite all the hate it gets, I kind of dig the customisation and meaty, weighted feel it has compared to UMvC3.

I know folks are gonna be busy with Tearaway, but holler at me if you need a spare world warrior to spar with.

Any reason my vita pauses downloads when it goes to sleep? No matter what I have the wifi power save settings set to it refuses to download once I put down the system.

Yes, that's an extremely good deal. Most people here prefer the OLED screen over what the 2000 has to offer anyways.

It looks like the Take a 10 minute break in Flower is cumulative and not done in one sitting. Just had it pop only a few minutes after completing stage 3. I was wondering how they handled it since my vita shuts off after 3-5 minutes. Also the memory trophy is changed too, since it's one minute in screensaver mode for every stage instead of one 3 minute session on any one.
