I showed my wife this comparison and she said live looked like a ps2 game lol. Couldn't agree more.
I applaud EA for even trying. I didn't even think this was going to be released.

Madden during the sixth generation was the shit. EA was the king of baseball games, too.

Yeah, I'm one of those guys, minus saying 2K pisses excellence (by comparison though...). I prefer to go out and play the sport for real instead of the simulations, but lots of sports games do look fun enough to make me want to jump in sometimes (especially Topspin games). People will have different standards about which is better, but the biggest takeaway from this NBA case is it's so much better to have competition in sports games.
Madden could be good, but where would it be against NFL2K? The last Madden vs 2K was 2005, and paying attention to those who played it, 2K was the PS4 being cheaper and considered better, while Madden was $10 more and considered worse. I could only imagine how some Madden titles could improve if it had to continue stacking up against 2K annually.

I'm extremely dissapointed at the lazy port. Especially because I was going to buy this madden. Hadn't bought one in like 3 years.

Lighting and shading is much better on 2K14. The difference is shocking actually.

Are we playing the same Madden? Because it's not good, on both PS3/PS4 and I've spent a lot of time with both...And why do all Madden fan's say this? I had two friends who buy it every year who begged me to pick up the PS4 version saying it was way better than the PS3. It's not, at all.
Don't you dare bring NHL into this. Major graphical updates over the past few years? No. But they still have the best control/game modes around. If EA Canada pulls a minimal Madden-like update I'll still buy day one. If the gameplay ever becomes broken like Madden then I'll have an issue..

I wish 2K would bring back both as well. But NFL is locked up with an exclusive contract.
The NHL contract is not exclusive but the market for hockey games was apparently not big enough to support two games. Once EA established a bit lead, 2K Sports pulled the plug on hockey. I was very disappointed, I loved their hockey games. It is too bad 2K didn't make an attempt with this new generation. Heck, if they just recompiled their last version for the new consoles, I would have bought it.

Pack it up EA, no wonder they didn't show any gameplay I know it's been said over and over again but they had to hanging their heads in shame after seeing the NBA2k footage.

The comparison between PES and FIFA next year is going to be very interesting. Konami said that they didn't want to make a quick and dirty port of PES this year which is why there is no next-gen version. So you know they're building a next-gen specific engine for that series. And the animation in the current game is already well above even the next-gen FIFA.

Just drop the exclusivity. Does the NFL make much more with an exclusive license? Why not let both companies put out games like the do for the NBA (and they did for the NHL until 2K quit). On the upside, there will be some people that buy both games.

Which won't happen unless the publisher has exclusive rights.
It's a simple business decision for all involved and why we're likely stuck with EA until the games stop selling, they choose not to bid on the license or someone outright buys EA.
