I'd say like someone said above, give it a month.

Not everything breaks right away, a month should be the right amount of time I'd say (though some things could still break easily 6 months from now so *shrugs* idk)

Yes, 4. There's more than 10 in this thread alone, and when you go to the official complaints forum there's over 100.

Nearly every big outlet reported the news on the PS4 with only 2 - 3 reports. More came afterwards but that's not the point. The odd thing is that only polygon are reporting more lol

Mine has a problem when I put a Blu Ray in , Xbox one remain silent , when I install a game, it's horrible noise very very loud, I think the Blu Ray player is not well fixed. I put 4 hard drive on top of it and then silence.If there is pressure on top of the xbox everything is ok
Will see if my games are affected but don't think so for the moment.

Very, very large at the start. I had to send back my second 360 because it was destroying my discs with those circular rings.

What I meant is that with both trying to get their units out in time, it's not surprising if one company was possibly setting the pace (Sony) and the other was trying to keep up (MS). Rushing won't lead to failure in all cases.

My launch console ate at least 8 of my games until someone told me to eject the disk before closing the game. It was a huge issue early on.

Some people on there are having multiple issues too:

I was able to get mine set up last night via wireless, so I don't think its a wired vs wifi issue. Mine works perfectly....except my disc drive. They are sending me a new system should be here next Tuesday.

I really do think this is what a certain insider was referring to. Couple that with Kinect not working, slower load times, slower install times, 7.1 to stereo with reduced quality of image when put through a cable box, and many other niggling issues and you do have something approaching a complete mess.

What's a week of use going to do to these consoles?

Now Im no Xbox fanboy (nor a Sony fanboy). I love my PS4, and Im eager to get my Xbone, but I notice you failed to mention a problem that was being reported quite frequently with PS4, in fact the main one being reported - the BBLOD. PS4 was not free of issues, nor is Xbone, but no one will no for sure how widespread these issues really are for a while.

The last console that "just worked" was the N64. And the one before that was the SNES and Genesis.

Hell, even the Sega CD and Turbo CD were prone to failures WELL WITHIN their expected current-generation lifetime.

edit - actually the gamecube and dreamcast were both pretty fucking awesome.

Not entirely true. My first N64 had a cartridge slot that was misshaped or too small for cartridges. Luckily, my dad and I went back to EBGames and got a replacement on the Friday we picked it up.
