New Driveclub footage looks stunning

Evo should have followed that rule. :) They were the ones who publicly said they were targeting 60… at least at some point in development. Maybe (probably) not anymore.

If the game looks like this and manages to hit 60? Holy crap, I might barf from the excitement.

haha yeah they've kinda opened the flood gates themselves! I'm sure they'll deliver but I don't envy those guys, under a lotta pressure from Sony and GAF!

Haven't played Motorstorm but NFS is garbage. PGR is awesome though, forgot that they went with 30fps in that game.

Not all NFS games are garbage, but that's relative, I suppose. And they aren't garbage because of the frame rate. Motorstorm is amazing and PGR fans are exactly the type of audience driveclub is after. So I think there is enjoyment to be had, regardless of what the final frame rate ends up being.

With the current dynamic lightning engine and the way the enrivonments are modelled, no doubt the game will run at 30. FWIW i dont expect the next GT to have such rich environments and hits the 60fps.

Yeah, not doubting it at all. Game looks great. It'll sell me a PS4 once I can demo it to be sure.

lol, hyperbole gaf in full effect. it looks pretty good imo, I'm actually glad it was delayed so that it has more time in the oven.
Wrong game to use that analogy with. The only exclusive racing game so far this gen with anything baked is FM5.

Im playing NFS rivals right now..And this game makes it look like a joke. Cant wait for this game, so glad this and infamous got delayed a bit, they are really making a hell of a lot of progress.

Just saw the ads on C4. Both looked great. Second one is really nice - at dusk with the headlights of the cars lighting each other up. Also has a 'this is for the players' billboard at the side of the road.

As amazing as it will look, I just can't look forward to a sim racer at 30fps unless it's confirmed locked down unbelievably tight so that I can get used to it.

Do dynamic resolution to hold the framerate if need be.

Dynamic res? GTFO with that.

Why are you reading my tag instead of the title of my post?
Well, to be honest Shahid was probably thinking of indie games when he tweeted that.
Get used to saying that. Over, and over, and over again. For the entire generation. Shahid is gonna get quoted without context for a long long time.

Driveclub will be 30fps-ish and we'll like it. Well, most of us.

Delaying this is the best decision ever made. This looks to be the racer to get next year.

I'll wait to play them to decide, but Mario Kart still looks like the racer to get to me. If this game gets a bump to 60 fps, I might have a change of heart. It certainly looks nice now, but a racer at 30 FPS isn't a must-own to me.

Please STOP posting this ! He is talking just for him, it's his opinion, he is not talking for Sony right here...

Why? He's right. Especially for driving games.

DRIVECLUB is an arcade racer and GT is a simulator.

From the looks of it, it seems to be more simcade, than pure arcade. IMO anything that requires opposite lock and has wheel support is simcade. NFS, Burnout, etc are all purely arcade. Drive Club and Forza Horizon are not simulators but they take into account some things simulation games do (tire grip, slip angle, etc).

You'd notice the framerate dropping to 25fps more than you'd notice a drop from 1080p to 720p imo, especially while actually driving.

Not me. I would instantly notice 1080p going to 720p when playing on my 1080p tv.

It makes the shape of a 4 like PS4. (right at the end of the gif)

Still on Earth :)

Oh, that is pretty neat. I didn't even notice it because I was too busy wondering why the rock was floating. heh.

Are you concerned about display notifications popping up? TBH it's been a while since I played on my TV so size may be a factor - my eyesight got worse too.

But when you're driving in intense situations that could cause the framerate to usually dip, your brain isn't taking in the sights, it's focussing on the driving path and the other cars among other things. Slight loss of sharpness isn't going to be as big of a factor as having your brain lock up for a few seconds. It's just a temporary drop.

Naw, I shouldn't get popups because the PS4 will output 1080p regardless.

I think I would notice the jaggies appear on the back of the car in the normal places. It might not be a huge deal if it happened very rarely but if the game was constantly going from 60/30 to sub 60/30 and resolutions were changing all of the time, I can see it being a problem.

some people consider forza and gt simcades :p

It would suck for sure and ideally it wouldn't be dropping down much or for long at all but it would be better than constant drops in fps surely. If it was dropping from 60 to 55 then no but constant 30 to 25 is a killer for racing. I'm sure it will be better than that but I just don't want any fps drops at all and would prefer flashes of 720 if that's possible without having the jaggies suddenly stick out each time so much. Might be a problem for huge screens maybe...

My only fear for this game is they cave into the 60fps talk and unlock the framerate just to say its 60fps but in reality that's closer to 40fps most of the time like Killzone and Knack and in that case I would rather the lock it and have a rock solid 30.

He was. Certain sectors of GAF like to regularly post that image without context though, so you're better off ignoring it.

I agree, but I do think he tweets in a controversial way that is kind of annoying. He could have EASILY said "Give me 60fps on indies or give me death".

Holy cow, that part around 50 seconds that looked similar to that one dusk clip from a couple of months ago...the AA! WOW that is massively improved. There was hardly any aliasing at all.
