I do have to say, the rain effects on the window look way worse than GT5 from what I seen.

I know, no pixelized mess in GT6, but when it worked in GT5, it looked standard setting!

There was a video on youtube (cant find it atm) where someone theorized how engine sounds work in GT5. The video basically said PD most likely uses 1 or 2 samples of an engine sound, and just "stretches" the sound across the gears (hence the synthesized sound). Of course they could use more samples but that would mean using more resources. The sounds on that video sound spot on with GT5.

Damn, finally found it.

Anyone interested in gt engine sounds should watch this.

This should be in the OP. It's exactly what's going on. I've worked on a studio for two years, and that's a very good breakdown on the video.

Speaking of the sounds, OMG, they are beyond horrible. It just completely ruin the amazing experience of driving those cars. You only realize ho bad it is when you hear the real thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZzNWj1FQ10

Just the other day i was playing Assetto Corsa with the Ferrari 458 and it's a completely different thing with sounds that are at least close to what you can find in real life.

They just have to make this the top priority for next gen. Horrible vacuum clearner sounds just completely kill the mood. It's like kissing this incredibly hot girl with a horrible breath. You can live with it, but it kills the mood.

LOL, I am glad stuff like this does not phase me. I guess I can see how it does for the extreme car enthusiast who wants absolute authenticity. I just love racing games for the rush, a change of pace and because they also relax me. This especially holds true for GT.

Maybe it's true, but some of those videos can give you shills just because of the sound. I've never gotten shills from the graphics. Same goes in video games, when you race a car in a game where the sound is good, the first time you try is just "exciting" to say the least.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
Gah I'm debating a wii u purchase vs gt6+g27 wheel and stand.

It's brutal...been a forza guy since that franchise started but after the forza 5 bs I am debating the switch. Just a lot of money to get my 360 setup on the ps3, and the wii u has several games I am eager to try.

Gah!

Has there every been a GT thread, on any forum, where someone doesn't go on about how bad the sounds are?

Bloody hell. The constant whining is even worse than a BMW's racing cars transmission.

90% of the sounds are terrible. We all know this. This is the major flaw of the game. I feel like the "grunt" of the cars is hidden inside the digital noise or whatever.

It isn't going to make a sound patch come out any faster. Don't like it? Don't buy it until it's fixed.

Yes, lets only talk about the good things... lalalalalalalalala Or, and here's a suggestion if you don't like the whining. Tell PD to fix it so there is no whining. It's not like it is good and people have unrealistic or excessive expectations. It has been shit for over 15 years now, PD has plenty of money, and they have said several times they will be improving it and it is still shit. PD's problem and fault, no the people that talk about it.

Yeah, very true. The downfall of Codies makes me sad, I think it was Toca3, they had Bathurst and Aussie V8's, and they nailed the sound. It was amazing. The physics were a bit off (a lot), but they just got the sound right.

Wow, the real thing sounds pretty annoying lol.

How was I only talking about the good things? I said that they aren't good. I am really disheartened that there's no mechanical damage in the current copy. I've voiced that multiple times. But there's a lot of things that this game is doing right.

There's a middle ground between "extreme car enthusiast" and people who don't want their car simulator game to sound like Mario Kart.

I dunno, I really love cars, but it doesn't bother me that much. I guess I'm used to it and just enjoy playing the series since I've played them all. The weird thing is, most cars sound pretty good at idle. Also, the engine crank sounds in GT5 were really good, too.

The graphics look fantastic (night lighting aside), I wish more people cared about other aspects of games as much as the damn graphics :/

Yeah, I may have unfairly lumped you in there. But saying talking about it won't make it come faster and just don't buy it if you don't like it is a bit silly.

What the hell? There's stuff there? I like it just fine on the dark theme anyway, lol.

I assume these are 1440x1920 upscaled to full 1080p. The image quality is insane for a ps3 game pushing these graphics. And they fixed the low-res raindrop particles. There's just a less abundance of them now.

sound is still the standard GT blow dryer, ah well. PD just can't do sound, its the one thing they just aren't capable of. Its been this way for ps1/ps2/ps3. Other titles have sound that sound like cars, shame. Still buying, as always, but its a little bit of a disappointment. Ill cry the day GT gets car sounds.

life will be perfect.

edit;

Ya, sure the patch will fix it. Its been a decade lol.. and a patch will fix the odd mentality over at PD.

not holding my breath, at all. PD's said the same shit about their work into the sound time and time again. Their actions show they can't pull it off for whatever reason.

Any word or video of the menus and presentation? Biggest pet peeve of mine regarding GT5, gameplay and graphics wise 6 looks great.

So you can't buy multiple cars at once? And the game still has the long car purchase animation?

That's unfortunate. I'll tolerate it though. One of my overall goals for the game is to own one of every single individual car in the dealer.

Which brings me to ask a question about the game.

When you buy a car in the dealer or get a prize car from winning a event is there a marker or star or some other icon placed on a owned car in the dealer to let you know you already own it so you can filter through duplicates?

I generally try not to keep duplicates and sell them, only on very rare occasion do I get multiples of a specific car model due to tuning changes.

So having a means to organize already purchased models would be a great help. I don't need to tell you how awful it was to keep track of over hundreds of vehicles in GT5 because of the garage separation and the Dealer / UCD / OCD nonsense.

Now that everything is in a single dealership, this should speed things up somewhat, but I do hope that already purchased / owned cars are somehow labeled in the dealer somehow so one doesn't accidentally buy a duplicate they didn't want.

Awesome, I just wonder how fast it is to go from menu into a race; that was my main issue with GT5 (took forever to load the grid).

One solution for this is bookmarking. Bookmark a spot (race, dealerships, etc) then press a button that toggles a collection of saved bookmarks.

That sounds awesome. But I mean, in GT5 when selecting a race it loads the track quickly but then it takes forever to load every car individually off the disc (instead of the HDD) before the race starts. I'm assuming this has been completely fixed in GT6. In all the videos I've seen people were screwing around with the settings before the race so I haven't been able to see how long it takes to actually go from menu to hitting the gas.

Watch the last two minutes on that link, can anyone tell me why a Z4 would oversteer and spin out like that and such low speeds? Time marker @ 7:30
