Gran Turismo 6 |OT| Moon Rover The Castle

Premium models have individual panels modeled. Standard models are one shape with the panels drawn on.

Hence, it looks like a premium model.
If that was the only distinguishing factor, then yeah. But it's not. The polycount has increased just to the point where curves are less stepped, but nowhere near the extent of a premium. They've done the bare minimum upgrade to allow better curves and to remove the panel textures - nothing beyond that. There is none of the amazing detail of a premium. Stuff is still textured where a premium would be modelled. Geometry is still massively simplified.

It looks pretty close, man. And that's coming from someone who was disgusted with the standards in GT5. It's right to label them semi-premium, as even though they aren't there on the inside, they're getting closer to looking fine on the outside.
Nope. It's not close. Not at all.

This Jibbed fella, he's hilarious alright. Come back to us when Forza outsells a GT Prologue game, Mr. Forza-beater.

FFS, I still need to wait a couple of weeks for this game. I can't take it. I need that Acura NSX in my life.

Alright, we've established that GT is objectively a better game because it sells more copies.

Before this gets any more ridiculous, back to GT6? :/

I'm still undecided on whether or not to keep this PS3 and this game might be a difference maker. Not sure yet, though.

It'll at least be a year before something comes out for PS4. How deep is your backlog? I'd focus on those and skip on GT6.

I have over 100 games I need to play on my PC! lol

For PS3, there's only a small handful of games I want to play. Big racing fan so GT would be one of them(I have GT5 right now). Not too big on most Sony IP's, though. Demons Souls, Journey, The Last of Us are the main games I'm interested in.

I have no plans to buy a PS4.

EDIT: Oh yea, Laguna Seca looks miles better.

Played for a couple of hours. I don't see my ps4 getting any playtime when I'll have it next week...

The instant menu transitions and fast loading improves the experience tenfold.
There isn't even a title screen. The game boots directly to the career menu and everything is done from there.

And it looks much better.

If gallery view is available on the car menu, It's a premium car.

Thanks, that's good to know!

While I don't have any issues seeing when a car is premium or not you cannot see the 3d-model of the car while browsing, only a thumbnail. I wish the indication if it's premium or not was already there.
Like I said, I have absolutely no urge to play standard cars. The modelled interior is what makes alot of the immersion for me.

On the topic of updated graphics and what not, are there any words on updated graphics on old tracks? Some tracks which were slightly updated from PS2 are kind of not holding up by todays stanards. I really hope I don't have to see the obvious cross-plane trees.

Edit: I see tracks are actually a bit updated on the screenshots above. Looks great!

I can't come to terms with the fact that this is PS3 and not PS4 :(

Still, it's a killer game regardless.

Sadly they have to make some money to cover porting the engine to ps4. The real question to me is if they will name the ps4 version gt7 or gt6 special.

Ohhh, I assumed you were asking because of the inevitable PS4 version!

If you're a big fan of GT, I would say it's a no brainer to get GT6. Maybe wait on some GAF opinions before you commit. That's what I'm doing.

I'm pretty sure some of them are less of an improvement and more of a full premium model. That Superbird appears to be a premium since you can spot individual panel modeling on it.

The Superbird looks vastly better, but the hood pins are still only textures, not modelled.

yeah no analog button on DS4

DS4 has no analogue buttons? What the hell?

I would say how car sound is improved over GT5, but it is still not "there".

For instance, when in Neutral and standing, all engines sound almost perfect (Goodwood Challenges are a great example of the above). However, once in the race, it is again more/less the GT sound-engine synthesizer issue.

It's been like that for a while, even in 4 some of the muscle cars sounded decent at idle, especially if you turned the volume way up, there was a lot of detail in the sound. Same in GT5. For the premiums the idle sound is often amazing, but the mix will be a bit busted or something. Then as you say, once you are underway it all falls apart.

I'm so tempted to just throw a 64GB SSD in my PS3 and get this, everything else I'm currently playing is on the PS4 so it's not like I'd lose anything by it.

This fucking loading man

Used to browse the internet while the next race was loading, now there is barely time for that and it kinda sucks actually haha

Where the reviews at?

And I'm still not going to support GT until the franchise returns to consistent quality. Not a fan of premuim V Standard GT5 introduced and I fear the gulf will only get bigger on PS4.

The standard upgrades shown in this thread ALL look good. Do we know yet if all standards have received similar treatment, or only some of them?

Have there been any confirmations that SSD HDD's will load faster than non-SSD HDD's for GT6? I know that was the case with GT5 but it seems like loading times are much better in GT6 negating the need to switch to an SSD.

All I know is I'm probably going to have to wipe dat massive GT5 data from my ps3. Launch 60GB is running out of room!

Damn impressive... mine unfortunately died last year.
It lived a good life though... just too bad I lost the majority of my GT5 save data when it died considering I had not backed up the data to USB in months.

Man, so many cars and yet two of my favorite cars in the world are still missing. I guess I'll have to deal with it.

Ferrari 512TR "Testarossa" and the Ford Escort RS Cosworth, wish these were in the game.

Is there any indication that the Toyota Supra Mk. IV got the Standard to Semi-Premium upgrade treatment?

What of the Lancer Evolution VII or VIII? The Evo 7 is one of my favorite cars in my Teen years far back from Gran Turismo 1, also the Honda Prelude SiR '96.

If the Evo VII and the Prelude SiR '96 were cleaned up this would make it my favorite racing game of all time.
