BF4 released at 900p on the ps4 and 720p on the xbox one so I'm not certain about any sort of forced parity - i think it's just a coincidence brought on by games rushing for launch.
"ability to run Black Flag at 60fps is a tantalising prospect - and something that is only possible on PC, resulting in a smoother, far more fluid experience than on console" "

I’m stating – as I have stated from the beginning – that the performance delta between the two platforms is not as great as the raw numbers lead the average consumer to believe. There are things about our system architecture not fully understood, and there are things about theirs as well, that bring the two systems into balance.
People DO understand that Microsoft has some of the smartest graphics programmers IN THE WORLD. We CREATED DirectX, the standard API’s that everyone programs against. So while people laude Sony for their HW skills, do you really think we don’t know how to build a system optimized for maximizing graphics for programmers? Seriously? There is no way we’re giving up a 30%+ advantage to Sony. And ANYONE who has seen both systems running could say there are great looking games on both systems. If there was really huge performance difference – it would be obvious.
I get a ton of hate for saying this – but it’s been the same EVERY generation. Sony claims more power, they did it with Cell, they did it with Emotion Engine, and they are doing it again. And, in the end, games on our system looked the same or better.
I’m not saying they haven’t built a good system – I’m merely saying that anyone who wants to die on their sword over this 30%+ power advantage are going to be fighting an uphill battle over the next 10 years…
I really don't appreciate the author sticking this inflammatory statement in at the end:
Console is not automatically inferior to PC graphics experience. It's becoming tiring going on internet gaming sites and seeing this statement almost as if to laugh at console people. I will not regret buying a PS4 and people shouldn't be trying to convert others to PC instead. I don't understand why he talks about PC being better value. It's almost like he has done no research into what powerful graphics Sony stuck into PS4 for $399.99:
I'm not trying to say that PC is worse/better than PS4, only an alternative.
Console is not automatically inferior to PC graphics experience..
Wow.png
Yikes. Worse perfomance than last-gen?
Did Ubisoft outsource the Wii-U port?

Agreed. Why can't PC gamers just shut up already? It's getting so annoying having them shit up every graphics thread saying that their platform is superior. NOBODY CARES OK? I wish it was bannable already.
/ontopic LMAO @ The XBone and WiiU. Magic upscaler doing it's work I see haha. Also good on DF for putting n-fans in their place and saying that WiiU isn't a next-gen console. They need to knock it off with that crap hahahaha

Some people thought the shitty crushed black and jacked up contrast on x360 games were awesome, so much pop, so MS decided to double down on the Xbone.

Wii U what have you done. And surprised the PS4 version gets a better frame rate, resolution and AA solution compared to the Xbox One version.

sub-pixel aliasing looks fucking GLORIOUS with a sharpening filter.

...both next generation consoles.
Regular ass MSAA sucks simply due to lack of alpha coverage. If you add support for that it's no longer MSAA, really.MSAA still so best, even DF can't deny it:
X1 version confirmed the best, it pops out more than the others.
You've got to be kidding. You say PC players shouldn't bash consoles for their weaker hardware but then go on to bash the Xbox One and Wii U for not performing as well as PS4? You're a total hypocrite.
Are the compression artifacts in this from the source?
It's kind of silly to do an IQ comparison with JPG compression staring you in the face. I mean, the ranking is still obvious, but particularly the PC shot (and also PS4) could look even cleaner without the compression.
From this link, I learned that Dreamfall Chapters is coming to the WiiU. Nice!Anyone with some common sense could have seen the future of the WiiU by watching this year's E3.
You just need to take a look at this list and notice how pretty much everyone has bailed out.
This, and between the wife and me we have over 50 hours and I have not seen or experienced anything they speak of. Don't doubt that the PS4 version is better, but I haven't had to redo anu missions on Wii U due to framerate or graphical issue or control issues. Frankly I have started to feel like Digital Foundry can be completely ignored because it has never matched my own experiences on any system.
I've had frame drops when I have 10 guards chasing me at once, but it's a fairly solid 30fps throughout.
The only gripe I have is the opening area of the game, it looked fugly with some massively blown out colors.

dang, xbox one...
That's a strange definition. Methods like alpha-to-coverage have existed for over a decade, and no one calls MSAA with alpha-to-coverage "not MSAA".Regular ass MSAA sucks simply due to lack of alpha coverage. If you add support for that it's no longer MSAA, really.
Q.E.D.Why is no one talking about that weird shimmering shit that goes on in the Ps4 version when the camera is moved? This was really noticeable to me, and looks nasty. When the camera doesn't move it looks fantastic, as this doesn't happen.
who ever scared that child should be stabbed.
The point .
Bro!!!..Bro!...bro!...bro....Sarcasm.
I've played AC4 for 20+ hours and I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm going to be looking for it next time I boot it up, though. Why is no one talking about that weird shimmering shit that goes on in the Ps4 version when the camera is moved? Is it only me that see's this? It's not present on any other PS4 game, so it is not my TV.

Of course, but few games implement anything like that on foliage so using MSAA produces awful results on such assets. I really dislike the way it looks most of the time. That's a strange definition. The main point is that more samples per pixel > trying to guess an edge from a low sample count. And of course, the most significant issue with the latter doesn't even show up in still images.
ACIII was just as bad on WiiU. So how is that COD can hit much better than that in multiplayer, this BO2 in Ground War.
