Xbox One sells (to customers) 2 Million Units in 18 Days

I think he means in terms of first big next gen exclusives post launch. Not list warz.

No, he is responding to a post that says

Every single Xbox related thread about the future of the platform boils down to Titanfall.

Hoo boy that game has more riding on it than any MS first party project in probably ever.

The comparison to infamous is invalid because there are many other games people are waiting for that is slated for next year.

Hell that logic is correct for both. I look forward to Fable, Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare, Titanfall, Destiny, Sunset Overdrive, etc.

This reads weird. Did they stop selling in the US after first 48hrs? (despite the stock levels)

Nothing is clear cut, it's all a best guess scenario, trying to piece together info from different sources.

Sony claimed they'd sold through 'over' 1m PS4's during the weekend of the NA launch.

They then announced 'over' 750k were sold at the EU launch, with 'over' 2.1m sold worldwide at that point.

There are two ways of looking at this, you can either round that figure to approx. 2m million sold for the NA/EU launch. Or you can say Sony sold another 350k PS4's in the two week period after the NA launch.

If it's the latter - Sony sold 350k PS4's - this at a time when PS4's where reportedly completely sold out in stores and online, what does that say about supply? We are led to believe PS4's being difficult to find is indicative of limited supply (compared to MS), but this suggests Sony are still selling hundreds of thousands of PS4's, even when anecdotal evidence is they are extremely difficult to find.

Well, we know there's a lot of other AAA/big games coming out in 2014. We know about Titanfall and Halo, Quantum Break has no hints of 2014, Sunset Overdrive only has a CG trailer and no info but looks to be confirmed for 2014. What about the rest?

On the PS4 side we have:
inFamous
Driveclub
Lily Bergamo
Deep Down(uncertain about NA/UK release date)
MLB The Show
The Order: 1886
Guilty Gear Xrd
Everquest Next
Planetside 2

on the mid-tier side: Rime, Everyone's Gone to Rapture, and Shadow of the Beast. I won't list Uncharted because we don't know if it's confirmed for a 2014 release.

Oh god it's a PS4 game list in an Xbox One sales thread. smh

According to Sony's PR, they sold 2.1 million PS4's from launch to Dec 1st.
Accroding to MS's PR, they sold 2.0 million XBOne's in 18 days since launch.

PS4: November 15 - December 1 = 17 days [Avg. 123529 sold a day]

XBOne: November 22 - December 9 = 18 days [Avg. 111111 sold a day]

If averages continue the way they are currently (which they won't, but I'm doing it anyway, because I'm bored) these are the amounts sold since launch (not including today):

PS4: 3,335,283 units
XBone: 2,222,220 units

(This probably isn't true, because I think Sony would've had a statement about selling over three million if they did)

At this rate, the time each console will outsell the Wii U (~4m):

PS4: December 17th
XBOne: December 28th

:/

Trying to compare numbers while both companies are supply constrained is kind of pointless. Once launch demand for each is met and stores have both on the shelves, you can make the determination of which selling better.

Except that he was talking about supposed "console" exclusives and already mentioned Halo (curious about),Sunset overdrive and Quantum break (a game that I am interested in).

Destiny and PvZ are not exclusives. His point is that no one in the PS threads are whining about titanfall because most (as usual) have different tastes and expectations.

They are all games. PvZ is timed btw. I have games I want on both consoles. When you begin comparing one list to the other, you look kind of fanboyish.

Xbone will win the US this December. Why? Because they have less demand in Europe so they get to allocate more stock to the US.

PS4 will win EU and will struggle to meet demand in the US. Sony spread themselves too thin.

I guess I missed this, but is it now the consensus that the PS4 and Xbox are at the same number of devices sold globally?

No.

Even at the most conservative, it's like saying that Sony magically stopped shipping systems after they hit 2.1 million.

And based on other threads and that they keep selling systems that aren't ending up on shelves, Sony seem to be still filling their massive preorder numbers in a number of areas.

I am only questioning the "sold 2.1M in 48hrs" that is being posted every now and then.

Per day averages only work when supply is steady and equal. Numbers can be spun however one want to project though.

Numbers aside, Xbox One is already relatively easy to find in the US. XBO sales are settling already, while PS4 still has a lot of energy left. NPD will give us an idea where XBO is settling.

This so far is definitely a close race but I feel like it all comes down to how much both can produce until after the holidays, then it will show the gap difference. (most likely ps4 @ $100 cheaper my guess)

When would be a good time Sony announce their next milestone? Asia launch?

it doesn't mean demand is settling, unless we know how much stock is being shipped in.

and if MS/Sony are producing the same number of units then it seems reasonable to expect them to be able to service the US with more units than Sony

the WW launch isn't even over for Sony yet. they release in the UAE tomorrow, a handful of Asian counties on the 29th, and Japan in February.

I thought the XB1 was doing terrible sales wise. So many threads made it seem that way.

You can argue the amount of marketshare they're losing/going to lose compared to what they had for the 360 has been dramatically reduced in the US. Coupled with it being irrelevant in Yurop and elsewhere PS4 looks like it will take the worldwide lead right off the bat and continue selling more over time whereas last gen the numbers where comparable.

True assuming they can make them at the same rate. I'm not sure they'll overtake PS4 total, as Sony seems to be heavily prioritising US themselves.

And the PS4 figure includes more countries, again making it impossible to do a valid comparison. I'm just glad both are selling well since I own both. I don't think any of these numbers really matter until next spring though.

And here I thought both consoles were selling out? If so why would how many countries something launched in matter if they sell out regardless?

Also in three EU countries on this Friday and some other unfortunate European countries are scheduled for 29.1

November has 30 days FYI

So at most 16 days of sales for PS4 to sell that, probably 15 because of tracking delay although that also applies to MS's numbers but 16 for a like to like comparison

Eventually all these markets that sony is releasing to first will add up. The brand will be strong and will make it difficult for the bone to expand beyond the states more than the 360. It is not good to rely only on one region. If someone comes in and steals marketshare in your strongest market that is bad.

If Sony was at 3M they'd announce it I'm certain of that

I am curious how close they are though. I doubt they'd bother announcing 2.5M and think they've likely passed that already

Sony could be sitting on that news right now. they might announce 3m sold if the NDP numbers don't favor PS4 in NA.

Guys, can we try to stay away from the warrior list wars in sales threads?
There was nothing warrior about that. Reading the quoted post is helpful. It's amazing how fast someone can jump to conclusions.
Relax man. Play games.

He made a post based on sales facts...in a sales thread. You tell him to relax and play games? I seriously don't understand some of you people...

No. Microsoft's 2m figure includes 9 more days of tracking. There is no way to make a like for like comparison, all we can say is that the PS4 is selling at a faster rate since it made the 2.1m figure 9 days earlier.

What kind of BS is this? You may be right, but the Playstation 4 didn't sell 2+ million 9 days sooner than the Xbox One. The PS4 released a week prior to the XB1, so it's 17 days for the PS4 and 19 days for the XB1.

Really? Infamous strengthens the library, but it won't move systems like Titanfall.

The point is that when people talk about the next big game for PS4, it's invariably Infamous. Possibly Driveclub if they're way more of a racing fan, but it's far more likely Infamous. You use fans excitement for Titanfall to paint a negative light on the Xbox One, so why doesn't excitement about Infamous do the same for PS4?

I really don't get why people with a clear preference for either console seem to spend so much time in threads devoted to the other console, much less trying to rain on everyone's parade. If you're happy, that doesn't mean other people need to be 'saved' or 'educated' with concern trolling.

Don't forget where each console released in that time-frame.

PS4 was only available in 2 countries for the majority of those days.
