Xbox One sells (to customers) 2 Million Units in 18 Days

Jesus, why not, predict it, just throw something out there.

Wii U - A number so large it takes down the internet, the world is thrown into chaos. War rages. Nations fall. Oceans Rise and there is still no new Metroid...

PS4 - 5 consoles. All sold to GAF members who weren't in on the hoax of hyping up the system for the last year. They are forever branded as SonyGaf. It is tattooed on their forehead as a mark of shame

XB1 - 2.76 trillion consoles. Mostly sold to China for use in rebuilding areas of the great wall. Rest sold to Albert Penello. He struggles under their weight and is never seen from again. Thunderhead becomes self-aware and introduces a text to speech program in the XB1. In essence the kinect now just yells insults at you and calls you fat. Obesity is solved in the US but pharmaceutical drugs are rampant

Who's saying Xbox One sales are on par with PS4?

The PS4 sold 1m+ consoles within 48hrs of it's NA launch. Consoles were then scarce for the following two weeks, perhaps adding another few hundred thousand to the total. 48hrs after the EU launch, Sony added another 750k+ sales, for a total of 2.1m+.

That was 9-10 days back, we don't what sales have been like since, but given demand, and claims Sony can supply 100k consoles per day, it would be a fair judgement to state they've sold close to, if not surpassed, 3m . That's certainly their stated target for this Christmas - companies tend to lowball these predictions - with 5m sales predicted for the end of the financial year.

I really wish we still had use of the :lol emoticon because :lol.

Xbox One - Titanfall. PS4 - Infamous. What's the difference?

From what we know about list wars is that console exclusives don't count and cannot be used in lists or a positive reason to own a console over another. It's the reason why 360 lists are barren because all that counts is 1st party retail games, console exclusives don't count and neither does anything in the xbox arcade library. Otherwise things would look unacceptably good for the 360 library.

For some reason PS4 is not even on there, though. Those charts are pretty useless.
Maybe it didn't make top 100.

Maybe the PlayStation Portable 3000 and the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows PCs was more popular after all.
Or nobody bought a PS4 on Amazon because there were no stores to rush and injure your fellow man.

Basically he thinks Sony are just bringing forwards all of January's shipment volume (which would leave about now by boat) to get units on shelves before Xmas. So, err, yes. He said 300k per week should arrive globally by regular sea based shipments in December (set off early November) and a further 300k per week by air that sets off on a daily basis from Shenzhen cargo airport. He noted that shipping volume (and bulk pricing) has dipped on routes with companies regularly used by Sony, which he said is indicative of Sony air freighting stock.

Until Jan 6th is what he estimates, then they will trickle air shipments and let the regular sea based shipments catch up over about a month.

Thanks man. You have some great information. 600+ thousand per week shipment for December is crazy to think about. As far as the logistics go it boggles the mind on how hard it'll be to manage, but I'm glad they are doing it. More people need this system.

You blindly believe this?

There was a bundle @ #75.

Is 3 mil PS4s globally by now too unreasonable? It depends on how many units Sony has managed to ship out between then and now, and whether they're stockpiling for the asian launches this month.

Every single Xbox related thread about the future of the platform boils down to Titanfall.

Hoo boy that game has more riding on it than any MS first party project in probably ever.

I think that's quite a stretch. I feel the only people looking at Titanfall as the future of the platform are people who also believe Titanfall is somehow the only thing the platform has going for it. Essentially, people that want and are intrigued by Titanfall, but aren't necessarily as willing to get an Xbox One in order to play it, possibly just opting for the PC release instead. It's a very important exclusive title in the early life of the console, one I'm quite sure is expected to do very well, and anything less would probably be a disappointment. I've always felt that the game releasing on the 360 may quietly be a bit of a master stroke, which may drive sales and success of the game a lot more than people are expecting right now.

However, as far as exclusives are concerned, I'm personally a lot more excited about the next Halo and Quantum Break, or what I hope is a possible sequel to Ryse. In fact, if I were to get my Xbox One around the time Titanfall releases, I'd be far more likely to play through and beat Ryse first before giving Titanfall a shot. Titanfall looks insanely good though. It's a game I'm very excited about, and it's attempts to bring an almost campaign like experience to an MP game with the types of traversal possibilities shown, looks quite promising, but at the end of the day, it's still just an MP game. I certainly have nothing against an MP only title, as I've have had plenty of fun with those over the years (on the PC), but I'm much more into to big, story driven singleplayer style games. That a potentially big game like Titanfall is showing up pretty early in the life of the Xbox One is something I view as a really nice bonus on top of the other things that excite me about the platform, and certainly all my friends that have played it have come away gushing with praise for how incredible the gameplay feels. So, by default, it's on my radar, but for me it's far from the main course. After all, I'm the kind of person who only bought COD 4 and MW2 for the campaign. I never touched a second of either game's MP. Titanfall just looks interesting and fun enough for me to take the plunge, and since the Xbox One will be my first time being a regular Xbox Live Gold subscriber, I'd almost be crazy not to give the game a shot.

So the fact that the PS4 pre orders on Amazon were tracking well above the Xbox One and had five SKUs in the most wanted list means nothing? Did 80% of PS4 pre orders cancel and move to the Xbox One? Or is the list just messed up?

Which do you think is more likely, hmm? Just saying.

And damn, Senjutsu, do you go through 3 keyboards a week? Good post. I like how much effort you put into them, even if I don't always agree with your novels.

NPD only covers NA and November, 1M for X1 and 1.4M for PS4 is the max they can reach.

USA only actually. Canada is still tracked separately, though I haven't seen numbers in some time. I wonder if anyone even subscribes to them. I have no idea if NPD tracks Mexico, but I'd wager that if they do, those numbers are separate as well.

the thing this says to me is that regardless of the 180s or the $100 for Kinect, MS has built a compelling system and has a solid ecosystem of services and games that a lot of people like... and it will sell.

you guys still have to just be patient...Supply has to catch demand before we see who is pulling ahead. But these silly numbers game is just embarrassing and MS spin as well. JUst makes me not want to support them even less based on there PR.

Still not in a rush to get PS4 though, but I think sales wise the hype is a bit higher. Also on Amazon, PS4's launch platform, accessories, and games all have double and triple the amount of reviews. Take it with a grain of salt, but generally, a product bought more has more reviews attached to it, as well as the outside evidence of X1 being a tad easier to find than PS4.

None of this can be proven without a doubt atm...market leader (if any) will be decided shortly guys. Just wait it out.

PS4 was only available in 2 countries for the majority of those days.

Why is this constantly brought up? North America (mainly U.S) accounts for more than Half of PS4 world wide sales. History tells us that will continue to be the case no matter how many other countries these systems are launched in, because N.A accounts for just about half of PS3, Wii and XB360 WW sales.

US PS3 sales~25mn
WW sales ~80mn

Less than 1/3.

It does account for over half of WW 360 sales tho.

Is this possible that these figures are not exactly correct and they many have only shippd 2.1 - 2.2 million and they assume above 95% sell through that it has crossed 2 million when in fact sales are only 1.8 million may be?

Believe what blindly? Zomgbbq is very knowledgeable and respected around here. He has contacts. He's been right before. Nobody questions him anymore about this type of stuff.

He actually isn't very knowledgeable at all.

Here are a few claims he made 10 days ago:

So after stockpiling for two months MS ship 1m units to their 13 launch countries, and then you are saying the second shipment with little to no stockpiling was another million to match the PS4?

If you think that is the case, I have a bridge to sell you...

Doubtful. 1.3-1.5m is probably where they are right now. They can't ship 1m globally for week one and then ship another million for week two. Week one includes a lot of stockpiles, week two to a much lesser degree. Microsoft don't have the production capacity to match PS4 figures.

Good numbers for Sony.

In addition, they are air freighting units to the UK according to MCV, which means the 250,000 will grow very quickly over here, each planeload can bring around 10,000 units and I expect Sony have two or three arriving every day for the next two weeks. The big boat from China is expected on the 11th of December in Rotterdam, that is the massive pre-Xmas consignment for Europe.

All of which turned out to be incredibly wrong.

And to cap it off, he made this spectacular prophecy which I'd look to look back on in a few years

As I said earlier, the die is cast and the ceiling for Xbox One is between 40-50m globally.

You're giving him way too much credit. He's worse than Pachter, which says a lot.

Please explain how these statements have been proved to be wrong.

In case you didn't know, the Xbox One has sold 2 million units to customers. He goes so far as to suggest that if you believe MS could possibly match Sony's 2 million so soon, then he has a bridge to sell you. lol

He said that on the 3rd and said they were around 1.3-1.5mil at that time so he was right on as it was 8 days later to reach 2 million. I don't see anything he said that was very far off base as Sony is out manufacturing Microsoft at the moment.

He was very clearly referring to MS's ability to supply 2 million. He even straight up wrote that MS stocked up 2 months worth of supply to hit 1 million, implying not only that it was unlikely to shift 2 million anytime soon, but that you'd be a fool to believe that.

He doesn't know what he's talking about. At all. He's been using his goodwill here to make up nonsense.

I'd leave him be, it's clear what he was stating and MS release of numbers just runs a bus through his "insider" knowledge. Pretty much the same as the numbers stuff up the "yield" issues which appears to be another pile of shite.

For week two but he never said anything about when they would reach 2 million in total. Part of the stockpiling is happening during production ramp up so by the time they launched the were at full production. You are just reading too much into his statements putting words into his mouth.
