Victory! the console I bought has sold more than the console I didn't buy!

If only this were true for the Wii U. :D

Hope MS sees this and changes something (mandatory kinect).

I think he means, if Sony can produce 1 million units a month and sell them in one day and MS can produce one million a month and sell them in one month, the end result is the same: They both sell 1 million a month. However, it does show there's likely to be more demand next year for the PS4 when both companies have to assess how many to produce to meet post Christmas demand. At the moment it's Sony's to lose.

IF MIcrosof has already shipped and sold 500k in December and Sony has only shipped and sold 100K then it is likely PS4s is selling faster when in stock again than Xbones. Will mean nothing for total sales and nothing for future sales. Maybe PS4 demand dries down after 300K and Xbone slowly sells 700K.

These numbers are probably far off but we can't know. As long as we don't know how many units have been shipped we can't conclude anything from speed of sales at a certain timeframe.

Wow, the basic console is now only available from third parties. Amazon was saying it would in stock on the 28th a few minutes ago.

I think we've already seen XBO demand from the hardcore slow, obviously consoles are still selling in the Christmas rush, but Jan/Feb will tell us a lot.

We will never see the clear picture until supply is higher than demand. What we're tracking in this thread is anecdotal evidence at best but it's entertaining to see how fast both consoles sell in real time.

With the Driveclub bundle in Feb (probably) and the Infamous bundle in March, I'd say it's likely to sell out yet again.
