Gal Gadot to Play Wonder Woman in ‘Batman vs. Superman’

The fast and furious girl? A little too scrawny maybe for the part.

Honestly though, how the HELL is batman supposed to take on superman?
I'm batman fan and realistically, he can't. Superman holds back knowing Batman is only human. If he didn't and Superman is PISSED off and bloodlusted. Batman would be scared shitless.
Superman fights cosmic beings who are stronger or smarter than he is and wins.
They are best buds though, so why fight? #1 Bromance before it ever became a thing.

Yes, there was a huge backlash over an "unflattering" candid photo of the actress while on the set. Most comic book fans with their model girlfriend did not approve and Sony cut her from the movie

In their defense MJ is supposed to be jaw dropping hot. She becomes a super model.

Also I don't like this casting. She looks too petite and innocent to be WW.

yeah but still.

Uh, there is no "yeah but still". C'mon son. She got asked a question and she answered it. I'm sure she's heard it three million times on just the first day that she wasn't "thick" enough. She's probably sick of dealing with the nerd rage that's going on now. If I was an actor I'd NEVER want to be in a comic book movie because there's always some basement dweller who's going to be mad for no reason. It reminds me of dealing with my son when he was 3 and couldn't get his way, except with more Cheeto dust. She probably has gotten some pretty inappropriate questions about her body after the casting. Nothing is going to make people happy about this movie. Comic book fans are IMPOSSIBLE to please. They just rage the fuck out because everything from the comics doesn't translate to the screen. There are still people who are pissed that Hugh Jackman tall and Wolverine is short, so based on his height alone they think he shouldn't be Wolverine. It's RIDICULOUS.

I cringed pretty hard. I mean, the physicality of WW is always a point of contention, but surely, there must be a better way to formulate that question.
The longer the conversation surrounding the casting focuses on her looks, the grosser it gets.

I'm over it. She's not what I expected, but whatever. I'm more concerned about how the character is written and if she can act the part.

This is why I want action movies to go the way of Final Fantasy Advent Children and Beowulf.

Give me all CGI movies. This way we don't have to worry about this casting crap and body types for imaginary characters with unrealistic proportions. Characters can look exactly as they do from comic book to movies.

Did they really ask her about her breasts? Lol, I get that actors are essentially marketing their body as well as their talent when going for a job but it still amazes me the questions they can be asked.

But then we can complain about the voice actors.

I guess she's taking wonder woman as a literal amazon rather than the DC comics take on it.

Which is showing how much she knows about the character which seems to be JACK SHIT

She didn't even begun physical training .... she has more than enoght time to study for the role in the movie.

And by "role in the movie" I mean only enoght to play that role.
You don't need to join Becket's fan club to play a part in Waiting for Godot =P

But they would look like utter crap this way. Comic book images are created for 2D medium. The only way translating them into movie directly works is if the movie is cartoon.

Highly disagree with that. Just looking at Blur's output disproves this.

That said, photorealistic CG movies have bombed too many times for that to ever be considered for something this huge anytime soon.

people getting off track here on why there is a backlash against her.

1) Physique wise, nothing there. Nothing a couple shots of roids, hgh or whatever hollywood is giving people these days to bulk up should be able to fix but its going to take a lot.

2) Acting wise, we not looking for the next meryl streep here but there is zero evidence she is any better than a notch above that model Bay put in Transformers 3 to replace megan fox.

3) I predict end of the day, an armored costume to hide all the deficiencies people are talking abot

I bet WW will barely have any screentime in MoS 2. Just an intro/cameo. Batfleck will have more exposure, but I won't be surprised if it's still very much Superman's movie.

I was thinking that originally but now, I doubt it's just a cameo if they have her working out intensively.

And why the fuck is she talking about her tits instead of the fact she's a fucking toothpick.... Lack of tits is the least of her worries.

you're an angry little man you know that?

Yeah, this bothers me. It's not a requirement to be a fan to play a part, but don't talk shit if you know zero about the character.

she said "technically" for god's sake.

Honestly though, how the HELL is batman supposed to take on superman?

who says the movie will be about that?

She needs to add at least 20 pounds and not all muscle but there's not much that can be done to change her body type that's ever going to put her close to resembling Wonder Woman. She best have something special be it chemistry or something else because there's there's more than a few women with more experience and likely better actresses than her that could've fit the part better in terms of resembling the comic counterpart.

Of course she knows ziltch about Wonder Woman, I think it's pretty bad, even if a unintended typo to post a message on social media (this case Twitter) and not getting the character's name right. I hope that translation is losing some sort of humor from her answering the question...

Wonder Woman is one of those worldwide recognizable type characters.

A combination of prep time, hoping Superman is in a weakened state and kryptonite..

It doesn't hurt to have battle armour either...

I love Batman but the only reason Batman wins that fight is because Superman lets him. He begs him to surrender. If he wanted to kill him he could've done so in 2 seconds.

Batman and Superman should never fist fight. Like really. I get that people want to believe Batman has a chance because he's cool and all, but one regular man fighting Superman is like one man fighting two million fucking people at once.

its like a normal person , batman, fighting an unstoppable force and an immovable wall at the same time, superman.

i agree, they shouldn't fight at all. it would be coolest to see them work together.

the same people that demand the actress playing Wonder Woman have large Cs or D cups will also demand that Batman beat Superman.

MoS Superman is nowhere near as powerful as the one in comics though.

I'd say Wonder Woman is recognized first by name and then by the Lynda Carter TV show when it comes to physical appearances and then by whatever design is used on t-shirts. Even then it might just be the logo if not one of her cartoon designs.Outside of a very tiny and perhaps insignificant percentage I don't believe people know what she looks like in the comics or even cares. It's not at an issue at all if Gal Gadot doesn't match some fantasy, near pornographic drawing drawn by an comic artist. .

That's just on name and look. Forget about powers. All people would know would be lasso and invisible jet (which is to be made fun of). Then the group of people that think she might be Superman's girlfriend or sister because she wears the same colors. Then that she's the most powerful female superhero. Not from anything they've read but what they've been told or picked up as they've grown up.

More people will see Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman seconds after the first image is released then would have ever read any Wonder Woman comic. This is the situation we're dealing with here I believe.

They effectively have a clean slate to work with when it comes to Wonder Woman. For the masses they can mold her how ever they wish. The definitive version of the character will be what they put on film. However at the same time that is also the reason why she's not getting a solo film and might not ever. There is nothing really major that can be adapted that the powers that be believe could be a hit. Now it can be argued that's because they refused to do anything with Wonder Woman in the past, etc. It didn't need to be like this. Still this is the situation we have now however.

The two problems with this theory:

-If it were just a cameo, why announce it so far in advance of the film's release?
-If it's just a cameo, where exactly are we supposed to get her origin and backstory? WB has made fairly clear that they have little to no interest in a WW solo film, and I find it hard to believe that the inevitable Justice League film will give significant screen time to Themyscira or her less than iconic rogues' gallery.

They actually said the exact opposite to that.

60% of these roles is looking the part so of course people are going to bitch when a character doesn't fit the preconceived images of the roles. The other 30% is acting of which Gadot isn't exactly top notch. The final 10% is sounding the part as well. We'll see how her accent is in the film.

People didn't bitch about Bale or Hardy because we knew they would look the parts. Even then, there were a few that had issues.

Fell flat on it's face when it tried to compare Lynda Carter. If that's the high standards the creators are going for we are in for a treat.

Any examples of Female actors normally skinny beefing up for a role?

Any examples of women who were "beefy" for a role? Most female superheroes in movies tend to look slim.

Point is to just keep an open mind. And does she have to fit an exact idea of your perception of WW anyway?

There's your problem right there. Since when was Batman considered a regular man?
