What's the verdict on Berbatov.. think he would be a good fit at Arsenal as a short term option?

He's been pretty crappy for Fulham this year, hasn't he? He's only got 4 goals. Hardly seems like a solution, even taking into account how poor Fulham have been

He'll have had piss poor service though. Who in their midfield is even capable of supplying a striker on a consistent basis?

I wouldn't be overawed with signing Berbatov, but at the same time I wouldn't complain. He's an intelligent footballer, can link play well, great touch, knows where the goal is, can pick a pass, has PL and CL experience (and isn't cup tied). Has a lot of attributes that Wenger looks for in a player. What would concern me however would be his lack of work rate as our current style of play relies on us using the front man as a link player through the middle phase of the pitch. I'm not convinced he will move into pockets of space and hold the ball up the way that Giroud does and Bendtner did when he came on yesterday. How we would compensate for that I don't know...

Basically if we can do the deal quickly and for not too much money he'd be a decent stop-gap option for us.

what happened to him? he had so much potential when united first signed him and now he's just warming the bench

As for him not getting a run - well, we bought Robin. And Welberg is The Project.

Chicha might have had more of a chance - during the opportunities he gets - if the standard of crossing was consistent/acceptable. There's not much you can do when the cross is basically a lateral shot from one side and floaty shit (a lot of the time) from the other. He doesn't have the physical dominance to readily capitalise on what is essentially a kind of zonal crossing.

Huh?! Has Allegri really said this is his last Christmas and New Year at Milan?!

Yeah. He has decided to leave Milan at the end of this year, regardless of how we would perform, back in June 2013. Basically, this season was fucked up even before the summer transfer window opened.

The shiteness of Tom Cleverley is the result of karma for all those terrible 5 frame gifs people used to post of him playing a simple pass. Or something like that, I don't really know how karma is supposed to work.

Remember when Nasri had his famous MIA games 2 years ago and people wouldn't realize he was on the pitch before his number was shown in red as he got subbed off? Cleverley had one of those games last night.

Looks like we burned through this OT pretty quickly, given the absences. We'll be hitting the limit sometime today I'd imagine.

So I guess it's time to suggest OT titles for next time?

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
Tottenham are attempting to fend off interest from Newcastle and Monaco by signing Joleon Lescott on a six-month loan deal after the England defender was given permission to leave Manchester City by Manuel Pellegrini.

wat

I get that we have injuries but once Vertonghen is back Lescott would never play. Even if we assume Kaboul never gets fit again he'd barely be involved.

After a month he'd be playing even less than he does at City. He's also shit. Ryan Nelsen was at least a quality defender when we brought him in on loan.

He can play LB too (rarely did at City though) so maybe he'll be used as cover on both positions. You'd have to pay his salary though, ~90k. His contract is up this summer so he can turn out to be a cheap transfer for you.

Anyone see the Berbatov to arsenal rumour? What do gooners think of this signing?

Personally think it would be great for them but surely he is worth more than 2m pounds to Fulham, I'm not sure they would let him go for that they are in a relegation battle...

Adnan Januzaj has jumped above team-mate Ashley Young to become the second most booked player for simulation in Premier League history.

The Manchester United winger picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Tottenham on New Year's Day when referee Howard Webb booked him for diving after a tangle with Danny Rose.

Januzaj, who has seen yellow three times for going to ground too easily, is now behind only Gareth Bale in the all-time list of top-flight divers, despite making just 14 appearances.

Maybe Sherwood has no faith in Dawson, or something? Lescott has certainly played at higher levels than Dawson has ever managed. With Kaboul's injury problems I would reckon that Lescott and Vertonghen would be Tottenham's first choice pairing.

He's on crazy wages though (~£110k) and will turn 33 in a few weeks, the contract ends this summer. Before December he had scored 1 goal in 11 matches too... maybe Fulham will find someone for a couple million more that can do more.

If he takes a wage cut it could be a good deal, he would really suit Arsenal's style of football.

That's not fair. Some players get yellows for dives, and others don't. Rooney had a dive against Hull and didn't get a yellow. Welbeck had a dive against you guys and didn't see a yellow. Januzaj didn't even dive yesterday, but got a yellow.

Rose wasn't even playing the ball.
