Awesome, I come home only to discover that my monitor doesn't work, and my dad had to plug in an old CRT one. That piece of garbage has a resolution of 1024x768 and literally destroys a person's eyes.

The regular one is in the service now. With any luck it'll be fixed soon. But knowing my luck, I'm probably going to miss the MGR PC launch and won't be able to play Remember Me these days (using the CRT is not an option). Oh well, at least the computer itself works.

Your eyeballs are being cooked.
(Sorry to hear it, old CRT monitors are really bad. How did we ever support this?)

Maybe a TV if you really want to! That's what I had to do some year ago for a Splinter Cell game.

I've actually seen it argued that LCD technology was actually significantly worse in all aspects except size and weight, which is why they were adopted.

Moving onto new technology will be better for everyone.

Humble pulled through and added a starbound key to my claim page for the bundle, so now I can give away the spares without worry.

There's an LCD TV in my parents' room, but I'm not moving the PC there. I'd rather keep it in mine :p

I'm at the point where I'm tempted to pay the price of a new one instead of waiting who knows how many days, so I can go back to gaming right away. But I shouldn't be wasting my money like that.

Well, it depends on how old his "old CRT" is, I guess.
Yes, the latest CRTs were pretty amazing (I rocked a 50kg 19" CRT for years before moving to LCD), but if it's really an older CRT, those were... not good for you, radiation wise.

Edit: Also, to the random people trying to add me on Steam, please stop.
I'm flattered, but... I don't join in on the massive friendlist love-in stuff.

Valve support is really bad. How hard is it to understand "The store front does not recognize that I purchased content x -- can you please fix it so that it does?".

I've gotten responses on both of my tickets for this and neither situation is rectified... ugh.

Yeah :/

That reminds me, I sent a ticket during the sale because I had an issue during a trade with wilflare where we had an error at the end of the trade and my snow globe card disappeared to never come back. Not really worried about the card but a little afraid this could happen again when trading games or whatever.

2 days after the sales ends (great), they respond telling me to provide a screenshot of the trade and I reply there is no trace of the trade in my inventory history so I have no way to show what happened.

I get 2nd response where I'm told again to provide a screenshot and a link on how to do it. Yes because I don't know how to use the PrtScn key. It's like they don't even read what was asked.

Does the Runner 2 HBX key include the DLC? Is there a seperate key for the DLC?

No DLC, it's just skins anyway.

My old FW900 was probably the best monitor I had until I got a U2410.

Anyway speaking of display stuff new Nvidia game ready drivers are out. Let's see how many frames I can gain back in AC IV now.

It looks like Humble got a few more Starbound keys for those who paid more than $9.99 and missed the cut. Check your page to see if you're one of 'em.

Yay! Hmm. How do I do this? Do I click to claim Starbound on Steam first? Do I first click on claiming Pixel Tier Rewards?

Edit: Well, I tried redeeming on Steam (went fine). And then I clicked the link for Pixel Tier rewards. It told me I now had access to a soundtrack and sent me back to the Humble page for the download, but there was no sound track there.

Hope you can find a decent solution that fits your budget Rionaa, I was in the very same situation recently. I had to wait for a decent deal and while waiting I had one of those big, yellow-ish big monitor boxes that was so ugly to look at it I almost felt the need to cover it, haha.

Then I was lucky to find that my local store managed to get some decent prices on a Monitor and he was even matching or having a cheaper price that the big stores. Even if I was saving 20€ it was still money so I managed to get a monitor that way. It pays to always check local stores since they are loosing clients with Malls and all that, feels great to help smaller stores to get some business going.

I'm a recent Steam convert (I used to buy consoles) so this thread seems interesting to me but the speed that it moves at is very intimidating!

Welcome aboard! Don't be intimidated - we're a friendly bunch. : ) As a few people have already mentioned, things can move fast around here when a big bundle drops, but we still read what everyone posts - don't hesitate to chime in!

That CRT has better motion and no input lag, though.

It also has a button to degauss that shit, honestly the biggest loss in moving to lcd tech imo. Manufacturers need to include some degauss software that plays the noise and makes the image shake in a really satisfying way.

Whatever you do, make sure to set screen refresh rate to 75Hz or higher (my old CRT supported 85Hz as well).
Seriously, CRT's@60Hz are murderous.

So Alpha Protocol is really good. It really feels like Mass Effect 1, in the sense that it could use some work. If they'd do an Alpha Protocol 2 a la Mass Effect 2, it could be the awesomest spy game ever. Make the combat a bit more fun, a little less points-dependent, and give the dialog system a bit more clarity, and you've got yourself a winner.

I don't know closing your eyes and feeling like you had just been dancing under the strobelight at a rave for hours on end was pretty sweet imho.

Asus and Lenovo at CES are showing off some 4K monitors that will supposedly be in the $600-800 USD range :)

Just for shits and giggles I went and had a look on eBay for some older legendary crt's from way back when. Prices in and around £50-£100. Tempted to get one again now hahaha. G-whatsync?

I tried watching that DayZ video from like 20 pages ago, the one with the restraints. My hell is being restrained and having to listen to him screech on and on forever.

Hey! I <3 my NEC. 85hz fo lyfe, dawg. Going to be really bummed when this thing finally kicks the bucket and I'm forced to switch to an LCD.
Again, he specified a 1024x768 CRT, which is probably a cheap 14" monstrocity, not one of the expensive 2X" CRTs you guys are still using =p
(I still have a 19" iiyama CRT in a closet somewhere, in case all the LCDs and LED monitors die all at once)

You can play with the game on your SSD, then use Steam mover to move the game over to your storage.

There is also a way to set up a junction to fool Steam into thinking the temp folder is on your storage drive.

Was going to do that but the problem is Metal Gear Rising is so damn large so that wasn't an option, only have a 128gb SSD and Windows/Battlefield 4 take up most of that.
Think I have solved it now though, thanks anyway!

Going back to many pages ago, what is the difference between the Director's Edition and the normal edition of Deus Ex: HR + The Missing Link?

Going back to many pages ago, what is the difference between the Director's Edition and the normal edition of Deus Ex: HR + The Missing Link?

http://www.polygon.com/2013/10/13/4...tion-pc-augmented-with-directors-cut-for-4-99

In development for 18 months, Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut includes the game's downloadable expansion, The Missing Link, the Explosive Mission Pack, the Tactical Enhancement Pack, an additional called mission "Tong's Rescue" and boss fight enhancements. The second-screen functionality will be introduced to the PlayStation 3 via PS Vita and on Xbox 360 through SmartGlass.

"Not only that, but there's a New Game + feature, so you can replay through the action with all your previously-earned upgrades intact (which, trust me, is a LOT of fun)," Elliott wrote. "There are developer commentaries (English-only) plus the original Making-of video."

How about something more exciting than a wave of Runner/Joe Danger 2, a 50/50 Starbound roulette. One of these keys is for Bad Rats, the Citizen Kane and White Album of gaming combined, and Starbound, some hipster pixel game that wishes it was as a bit as good as Bad Rats.
Starbound is actually very good and worth $15 easily and it's still in early beta.
Have fun!
