Just did that because it updated and it's now in the list. ;)

Guess I should learn to explore before opening my mouth.

So I got an email today from Gamefly suggesting I could now pre-load the game. Woo!

However, I just entered it, and Steam's response was almost as though it was DLC for a game that wasn't yet released. The confirmation screen then had a box without any items inside it.

No listing of Metal Gear Rising in my steam list at all. So no preloading all of them sweet gigs for me.

Restart Steam.

i mean my priority is hey does this game even run well before resolutions? You'd think its a given with pc ports these days but you'd never know. X: Rebirth ran like 20fps on even dual titans at launch, but hey it supported resolutions over 1080p so i guess its all good?

That's completely irrelevant, modifying resolutions at the end of the day is just an arbitrary change of values. The only baseline to that argument is that it's poorly optimized, full stop. The issue exists outside of your ability to change that setting.

So I may have missed this but have there been any hints of mechanical fixes whatsoever? I have a couple of possibly input lag-related blade mode problems I'd love to see resolved.

I can't wait for impressions...particularly re: performance. Hopefully some will drop before the game is out...and the price goes back up on GMG!

I'd love to see that, too. But there are so many dollars and so many man-hours that can be allocated at once. Our cup runneth over. For now, we're just focused on making sure Rising goes really well, then maybe we can open up new avenues.

Thanks again, Tora. :)

Sure am glad Gamefly decided to give us the keys early. I think I've been dling it for about an hour and 20ish mins and I still have 30 mins left on it. Would have been mad if I had to wait til it was actually released to dl this. I need to play this asap D: D: Sure would be nice if we could start playing at 12 am EST. Though I bet we'd have to wait til 1 PM instead.

Is there any word on when the full unlock will actually occur? Only think I recall seeing is that it was totally up to Konami.

I ran the numbers from Steam (hours remaining) and it came out to 10AM PST. I'm not certain if that's the official time... To stay safe I'd say "the morning of" January 9th. So get a full night's rest and don't stay up till 2AM thinking it's a super late unlock. I've done that before and it is no fun.

Thanks bro, I will plan accordingly :D

Whoever is in charge of updating the registry app at Konami or Platinum will unlock the game. Store page says 10 AM Pacific, so it should be around then.

They can chose to unlock it earlier, or they can forget that they are supposed to unlock and it releases later.

Doesn't look like they removed the Ireland restriction yet, cool client icon though

EDIT: My math was all screwed up from the Pacific conversion. Tora is right, unlock is at 10 AM Pacific.

I think they did:

about 7 hours ago Changed PurchaseRestrictedCountries

- BT BN KH CN HK ID JP KR LA MO MY MV MN NP PH SG LK TW TH VN

You'll notice IE (Ireland) is not in the updated list any more. I noticed they removed a couple of other country restrictions as well. Good news Afghanistan GAF!

So why are konami games region locked in Asia? I am from Singapore and game shops i usually go to don't even carry boxed pc games. Really disappointed that the pc version of castlevania never was never released here.

Who knows? Would love to get an answer from Tora for this with justification. May be some legal loopholes.

Just buy the Amazon, GMG, etc version and activate via VPN, Valve looks the other way over this type of usage.

I doubt this. I have seen many posts on SPUF saying their accounts were suspended for using a VPN, and it is against the Steam TOS.

It's technically against the SSA but there are no verified or reputable reports of people having their accounts restricted for using a VPN for reasons other than skirting region-specific pricing. Many GAFers, such as myself, use a VPN on the odd occasion to activate a region-locked key or unlock a game early and our accounts are fine.

What Valve frowns upon is when you use a VPN to browse the store and buy super cheap keys from other regions.

Purchasing a retailer key then using a VPN to activate is something else entirely and they look the other way.

If Jase is ok with it you can be assured of two things.

He always does his own research to the max on Steam related material
He is willing to put his money where his mouth is and 'risk' his own account to activate such keys. His account is massive.

I've heard of people getting their paypal account terminated for using vpn, so I'm not going to risk it since I use it for my work. Amazon don't accept paypal either. So I'm probably going to just wait.

Retailers such as GMG has region restriction on what games I could buy. I would need a vpn to buy from their website.

The 23GB pre-load, alongside knowing Black Flag and Ghosts are about the same size, have really put into light how craptacular the next generation is going to be for my Aussie internet. I'm on a 150GB monthly limit, and when one fucking game chews up 1/6th, total split between three people, one also a heavy internet user...

...yeeeaaah.

Never buy NBA 2k14 of PS4 digitally. Think that ended up downloading 70GB including the in-game downloading.

GMG doesn't have it for Australians. Guess I'm paying $24.

It's roughly $19.70 at Nuuvem. The page says it's region-locked to the Americas but that's just Nuuvem covering its arse to avoid another Saints Row 4 fiasco.

Nice. Is it confirmed to work for Europeans or have they not sent out keys yet?

Would love to see MGS1 and 2 as well, but those ports are effectively useless and would need to be redone. Not so sure about the former, but definitely the latter in that regard.

I'm going way out on a limb here, and feel free to ignore this portion, but any plans for an x86/x64 port of the Legacy Collection for next-gen and PC?

I'm going to hijack this a bit and ask about legacy Konami titles - NES/SNES/Genesis/GBA/PSX Castlevanias (and just about every other non-licensed game released for 8/16/32-bit consoles).

Any particular reason they cannot be made available on PC DD? Sega does that for some of their own Genesis games.

Let's not beat around the bush - people are getting the games left and right from ROM sites, and will continue to do so, but if they would have an option of buying them on Steam, at least some of them would do so (I sure as hell would love to see Igavanias there).

It seems to me like you're just leaving money on the table with the way things currently are.

First would need redoing, only way to play the first is using a community made .exe that has been edited to improve support for newer gpus, and only supports up to 1024x768

Nuuvem was sending out keys back when the game went up for pre-order so I assume you'll get your key immediately. As per the game's store + retail sub (Konami forwent the retail-specific sub for some reason) only those in select Asian countries require a VPN to redeem keys.

anyone know how to enable cookies in steam client? I can't sell my cards and the client tells me to do that (or re-login which I've already tried).

Try this, or, failing that, a fresh reinstall of Steam (you can backup your steamapps folder as well as your userdata folder if you have categories/shortcuts/screenshots you wish to keep). If neither work then just use your browser as quite a few people have had trouble selling items via the client.

TIME TO LEAVE THEM ALL BEHIIIIIIIND

Hopefully sales pick up even more over the next few days

It's been in the top sellers pretty consistently. It seems like it really did come out with perfect timing for the steam sale, and the general increase in traffic/sales in the holiday period.

I hope Konami releases sales numbers, I'm really curious to see exactly how well it did. The other 3 games in the top 4 (Starbound, Day Z and Rust) all gave out some sales numbers, but of course those are all indie developers, and they are generally a bit more open about that.
