I absolutely love this one. The modern stuff often looks brilliant, but I love the way the filters make the simplicity of something less detailed like Crash look like a deliberate stylistic choice.

Would love to see some more like this! (Not just Crash, before some smart-alec avatar-quotes me. Any older games).

Mother of god, some of these images look incredible! I love non-photorealistic rendering (NPR) and can't wait for things like this to become easy to do in realtime. Also some of the GIFs in the previous thread are amazing.

Found a guy doing some videos of games with an oil painting filter over them (sadly not realtime) and I think it looks incredible.

Imagine a video game that looks like the film What Dreams May Come. Well... El Shaddai has a bit of that going on already. Also there's LOVE, a pretty unique multiplayer game with NPR visuals.

TIM has an exceptionally long torso and short legs in that picture.

My contribution:

DiRT3, 3840x2160, cropped black bars, blown up to 5k, Topaz Simplify, added 1,5px gaussian blur, resized to 4k, added GIMPs default HSV-noise filter, Resized to 1080p.

The effect on this one is quite subtle so here is the original downsampled image.

Fallout 3, 1080p, blown up to 4k, Topaz Simplify, 1,0px gaussian blur to soften the image, Resized to 1080p.
