They probably need to retool the system UI to an extent to make it more pleasant to use without Kinect, THEN remove it.

So everyone is getting a little nuts right now, and that is OK.

Last thing I want to do is cause people to start arguing with one another about shit that comes out of my... keyboard.

So, I'm gonna slow my roll a bit, we've all had enough excitement for one day.

Still gonna post as a regular user, but there won't be megatons, or minitons, or any tons with every. single. post.

When you hear something here, your mental filter is "This guy appears to be verified by GAF moderators as someone who potentially could know the kinds of things he's saying." We can't and couldn't verify that someone is telling the truth, only that they appear to be someone who could know this stuff based on their position or identity. Of course it could also be that he's Phil Spencer and playing a giant trick on us all. If Phil Spencer asked me to vouch for him in confidence, I'd say yes, and then he could post that Microsoft was buying Nintendo and making a game where Master Chief runs for congress, and I'd have no way of determining if that's true or not, only that theoretically someone in his position could vouch for it.

Thuway and famousmortimer have never been verified at all, and in fact they are both abundantly clear that they are NOT industry insiders. They both give their real names and professions publicly. They make it clear that in both their cases, they talk to people in the industry. In FM's case, I think it's not so much that he did talk to people in the industry, but rather his success with the PS4NoDRM thing got him connections to talk to some people in the industry. So when you hear something from either of these people, you know "This is something from people who appear to be connected, but don't have any first hand information because they're not in the industry. So are they using discretion in terms of choosing their sources or the certainly or degree to which they present the claims they heard?"

I've long thought they would never bother with a Halo 2 port. Most fans consider it the weakest Halo, and seeing as they ported the original to 360, it would have made far more sense to port the sequel as well, as the engine work had already been done at that point. A Halo 2 announcement at this E3 would be met with a lot of yawns at this point.

  • Gears of War will probably need a 2.5 year dev time.

Any estimation on the number of IP that are new and have yet to be announced? I don't really want to know what they are, but it would be cool to see if there was an idea on how many that are there so far.

Can't wait till they squash this dumb idea of a kinectless sku. Makes absolutely no sense.

The ONE isn't the 360, Kinect isn't a separate entity anymore. MS would have literally lost their minds if the go back to last gen and have Kinect sold separately at retail again.

Well thuway is a med student from Harvard (maybe doctor now) so I find it hard to believe he's in the industry personally unless he's consulting for God of War's head-ripping-off physics or whatever. I mean I'm not shit-talking on thuway here, I'm just saying he's very open about who he is, there's no anonymity or secrecy. And he's always been pretty clear that he passes along things he's heard. So I know from a moderation standpoint, we expect a level of discretion from someone like that in terms of being selective about repeating things that end up false versus someone who is in the industry, which might be given the benefit of the doubt.

I'm also not saying any of this "as a mod" but rather just as a basic observer of this stuff.

I think a lot of people get burned by insiders because they don't stop to think through what they're hearing and who they're hearing it from to begin with.

Man, MS is just locking it down with multiplayer games.

Gears of War, Titanfall, Halo, and that Forza Horizon sequel even sounds pretty awesome.

If there's one area Sony doesn't have the same pedigree in, it's multiplayer. Games like Killzone, Resistance, MAG, and SOCOM just haven't done it.

They'll rip out the optical drive, but not the kinect. smh. I don't care that the X1 is less powerful, but I won't buy one more expensive than the ps4/with no way to play physical games.
