I took an old Mirrors Edge screen of mine and uploaded it both to imgur and abload, then cropped them and reuploaded them both to the same site. In this scene it is painfully apparent what compression does to your screen, it is almost akin to bumping down the visual settings a notch in conjunction with having slapped on a blur filter, the loss of detail is obvious :

But how did You uplod that screenshot to imgur? Have You compared that PNG to 100% JPG? Because even 100% quality JPG desature shots a little, its most noticeable on red colors and some on green.
You have to upload 600kb files to imgur to avoid additional compression [it should be 1mb as their site says, but its not unfortunately ;\].

Can You post link to that shot in png/bmp?

Ps. I have never said that there is no difference between PNG and JPG [it has to be], but its almost not noticeable even when You compare both shots directly.

Nine out of ten orphans can't tell the difference.
But how did You uploded that screenshot to imgur? Have You compared that PNG to 100% JPG? You have to upload 600kb files to imgur to avoid additional compression

Yes I uploaded one to abload and one to imgur. The file is ~4mb.

After I finished Darksiders I decided to try to get through this since the main quest can apparently be completed in about 6 hours or something. It's not a very good game. Some graphics tips if anyone decides to play it:

- You can uncap the framerate and let it go up to 60 by forcing Vsync and triple-buffering at a driver level rather than in-game
- Disable ALL post-processing in-game because it has the worst motion-blur and DOF effects I have ever seen in any game
- It uses FXAA so if you disable post you will need to use injector to get it back

That's high resolution :) A little too high for a 600kb i can admit, but still is quite good when You upload it properly in comparison to JPG.

Problem with this shot is that even 100% quality JPG, that is 2mb, lose in some parts precision of PNG [like colors of those grids].

I use MSI Afterburner to take screencaps. Just gives me blanks.

Now You've made a PNG from JPG :p [4mb vs 3.5mb], but what is surprising that it actually increased a quality of imgur shot - lol [it shouldnt ;p]

Agreed. That's the Ultra DOF I believe? If you turn Postprocessing down to Extreme instead of Ultra, you get a big (7-10) FPS boost and it gets rid of the horrible blurring.

I'm already blind without my contacts, I don't need a game that takes me back to that level of vision. :\

The blur from quality mod hides all the aliasing the Crysis 2 has.

Are you using the crappy in game AA in those shots or SGSSAA?

Also the particle mod has disappearing particles after you play for a while, which still hasn't been fixed. It's great while it works.

man, the flying sections are so ridiculously fun
i play at a lower resolution because i'm on a laptop, but i've got the display outputted to a TV and i'm back on a couch so it still looks good.

This game is amazing...until they impose shitty time limits and make you fight the godawful handling physics to beat the clock. What a mess.

Nope, hovering around 30 fps in the city, and 40-50 inside buildings. And this is with physX and dx11 off ( then again I never turn on dx11 anyway ).

Though rendering the game at 5120x2880 really squeezes my gpus dry. Funnily enough, even with only 1gb of vram I don't run out of it even at that res ( aka vram bottleneck stuttering is absent ).
