You're talking about Lynda Carter, right?

Like the President of the United States having an affair with an alien?

🤔
I forgot she was the President. lol

I think it's doing sort of okay for SyFy, although without the Netflix deal I would not be as confident. Got renewed for a third season.
The Canadian dollar bombing is probably good for a lot of SyFy shows since it means their budgets increased by like 30% without having to do anything. :p

Everyone has probably seen this, but I guess Chuck Lorre is throwing some shade at Trump since this card is at the end of all his shows this week:

Haven't seen this before but its pretty funny. I actually really like to read his end cards/tags/whatever the technical name for them is

What happens on Friday?

Bad news in the business world typically is released on Friday afternoons so that people don't talk about it all work week; it can be sorta swept under the rug by Monday morning. And we're just more than a week out from upfronts, so show cancellations are gonna start leaking out.

Yep, a week from today may be potentially nuts.

I jumped off the SVU train a few years back when they did like 3-4 episodes back to back with false rape allegations and kept having increasingly ridiculous personal drama storylines, particularly that one where Benson got kidnapped by that psycho guy. Mercy kill it already.

I hated that story line, and it's forever tainted that actor for me (he's on American Gods now). The show has gotten better though, and Carisi has been a great addition.

Law and Order: SVU attracting 5 million viewers... down like 67% from 10 years ago, if I remember correctly. I watch my first episode after 8 years yesterday, and it's horrible now. Let it die.
This season has been bad, especially since they were supposed to air a Trump related episode months ago but NBC have continuously moved it back.

Wait, Grey's Anatomy still exists?
Why wouldn't it? Still has decent ratings and it's still a good show.

It's funny, I thought the show hit this point around 2005 or 2006 and I quit. I thought it took a nosedive as soon as Hargitay got awards attention and the whole show turned very self-serious and pushed for constant personal drama and personal connections to cases. Glancing at the Wikipedia page, wow, they sure dug even further down into that pattern.

I like how CBS's entire Thursday night lineup got better by removing The Great Indoors. I guess that show's fate is sealed then.

Well, it was a show about a middle-aged man whining about having to work with "Millennials" who don't know as much as him and who do young-people things that annoy him. I can't imagine how that wouldn't have been a hit with the demo. The demo made up entirely of Millennials.

That series always seemed like someone took this tweet unironically and decided to adapt it into a sitcom.

My yet-to-be-renewed broadcast shows are:

Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Scream Queens

Scream Queens is certainly dead but it seems like the other two have a good shot at coming back for at least one more season each, so I'm not too worried.

How is Outcast doing? I had no idea it was back until recently.

It's not back in the US yet - it looks like the entire second season will air in the UK first and then hit the US sometime later this summer. I have no idea how the show does in the UK, but the first season pretty much bombed in the US.

I marathoned Fargo season 1 and 2 and finished it tonight. That was some of the best television I have ever seen. I can now catch up with season 3, before I'll go do a marathon of Twin Peaks this weekend too. So much quality tv around these days, and so much catching up to do. I also plan on marathonning The Leftovers and The Americans but too little time in a day for that.

I still want that Stephen Fry supercut though.

Oh God. We had, what, a one-year reprieve from this show?

‘American Idol’: Deal in Place at ABC to Revive Competition Series

Variety said:
ABC has a deal in place with FremantleMedia to revive “American Idol.”

The broadcast network and the production company have settled on a framework for an agreement to bring back the long-running singing-competition series. According to sources, the Alphabet is eyeing a March premiere for the show, which would potentially air on Sunday nights, where ABC has struggled in recent seasons against NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” and programming on Fox and CBS that benefits from a strong NFL lead-in. The Alphabet is the only broadcaster of the Big Four that does not have an NFL package.

Yet to be decided is whether or how longtime host Ryan Seacrest could return to the franchise. Seacrest this week was announced as the new co-host of ABC syndicated morning program “Live!” with Kelly Ripa. He is relocating to New York for the role — a move that presents a substantial obstacle to a return as host of “Idol,” which has always filmed in Los Angeles.

It was pulling like a 0.16 in Season 2. It's doing kinda poorly, even by SyFy standards, and it looks and feels like a relatively expensive show. The third-season renewal felt a bit like a free gift. They're really hoping the off-season draws attention this time around.

And so am I. Great show. Genre fans have talked about how there's nothing to replace Battlestar Galactica since 2009. Well, The Expanse is the closest we've come.

‘Rise’ & ‘For God & Country’ Picked Up To Series By NBC

Written by Jason Katims, Rise was inspired by the story of groundbreaking high school drama teacher Lou Volpe as chronicled in the book Drama High. In the hourlong project, when dedicated teacher and family man Lou Mazzuchelli sheds his own self-doubt and takes over the school’s lackluster theater department, he galvanizes not only the faculty and students but the entire working-class town.

The series is being eyed as a potential companion piece for breakout ensemble family drama This Is Us.

For God & Country is described as a heart-pounding journey into the complex world of America’s elite undercover military heroes. While D.I.A. Deputy Director Patricia Campbell and her team of analysts wield the world’s most advanced surveillance technology from Washington, D.C., Adam Dalton and his heroic Special Ops squad of highly trained undercover specialists use their unbreakable bond and commitment to freedom to save lives of innocent people and execute missions in some of the most dangerous places in the world.

Just as Nellie Andreeva predicted!

Deadline - PILOTS 2017: Early Pre-Screenings Buzz

Fox

Comedy

Ghosted looks like a lock; LA->Vegas going strong due to the zeitgeisty nature of the premise; Linda From HR and Type-A are in contention; Thin Ice is a long shot.

Drama

Untitled Marvel project still a lock; The Resident is in serious contention; University project divisive, but a contender; Behind Enemy Lines has lost momentum, but can't be counted out yet.

ABC

Comedy

Losing It is faring well; Start Up, Charlie Foxtrot, The Goldbergs spinoff, the City Mayor project, Household Name, and untitled Single Dad are all in the mix; Splitting Up Together is gaining momentum; Raised by Wolves, not so much; Libby & Malcolm and Black-ish spinoff are question marks.

Drama

Deception, The Good Doctor, and Shondaland's new legal drama are getting buzz; The Crossing is getting attention; Las Reinas exceeded expectations; Reba's new show considered a possibility; Unit Zero is cooling down.

NBC

Comedy

Untitled high school comedy, The Sackett Sisters, Spaced Out, and What About Barb? are getting attention; Champions is a possibility; the response to Relatively Happy was encouraging.

Drama

Rise (aka Drama High) and For God and Country continue to be the standouts; Reverie is getting a bit of buzz; Good Girls has some internal support, but is an outlier.

CBS

Comedy

9J, 9K & 9L is still going strong; Brothered Up is faring well; Me, Myself & I has some buzz.

Drama

Instinct and S.W.A.T. have buzz; Perfect Citizen and the SEAL project are in contention; Wisdom of the Crowd is a possibility; Mission Control was mentioned.

The CW

Dynasty continues to be the favorite; Black Lightning and Life Sentence are going strong; Searchers was very well received; Insatiable is a dark horse, but still a possibility; Mark Pedowitz wants a military drama (for some reason?), so Valor looks pretty good.

PILOTS 2017: Latest Buzz On What’s Hot

Fox

Comedy

Ghosted and LA->Vegas are the front runners; Type-A tested high; Linda From HR has been well received.

Drama

Untitled Marvel project still a lock; The Resident is strong; University project is screening well and is in the running, along with Behind Enemy Lines.

ABC

ABC’s needs may have changed significantly since it ordered 23 pilots — the most of any broadcast network — in January and early February. In the past few weeks, the network went aggressively after American Idol and is in negotiations for a reboot, which would take up a lot of real estate on the midseason schedule, and it also is negotiating for the upcoming revival of the classic ABC sitcom Roseanne. The two shows would relieve the pressure on stocking up ABC’s pipeline and likely lower the number of new and returning scripted series the network had originally planned to pick up for next season.

Comedy

City Mayor is the front runner; Start Up is looking very good; Libby & Malcolm was well received; Splitting Up Together is looking good; Losing It tested very well; The Goldbergs spinoff and Charlie Foxtrot are in the mix; Black-ish spinoff might be too young for ABC. Household Name, untitled Single Dad, and Rev Run are long shots.

Drama

Deception is in the lead; Shondaland's new legal drama, The Good Doctor and The Crossing are also in contention. Unit Zero has gained momentum; Las Reinas is solid; Reba's new show is a possibility; The Trustee has been lost in the shuffle.

NBC

Comedy

the Seth Meyers untitled high school comedy is still hot; The Sackett Sisters and Champions are in serious contention; Nellie has been getting conflicting feedback with regards to What About Barb? and Spaced Out; Relatively Happy has been quiet.

Drama

Reverie is getting buzz; Good Girls has internal support; Warren Leight‘s medical drama is also in the mix.

CBS

Comedy

9J, 9K & 9L is the front runner; Me, Myself & I, Living Biblically, Questionable Choices, and Brothered Up are in the mix.

Drama

S.W.A.T. and Instinct are hot; Wisdom Of The Crowd and Navy SEAL project tested well; The Get was well received; Perfect Citizen and Mission Control remain possibilities.

The CW

With all pilots well received and all making if-come offers, I hear the network could pick up as many as four or five of them to series.

With The Vampire Diaries and Reign ending this season and fall freshmen No Tomorrow and Frequency expected to be canceled, the network has four slots open for 2017-2018.

There are only two current series that have yet to get a renewal decision: iZombie, which is fully expected to come back, and The Originals, which is doing a respectable job on Friday and has a following but is on the bubble. Depending on whether the CW opts to keep The Vampire Diaries spinoff or not, it may or may not have a fifth slot for a new series.

Comedy

Life Sentence is on brand and may go to series, but Insatiable is darker, quirkier, and very different, and can't be counted out.

Drama

Dynasty continues to be a favorite; Black Lightning is looking very good; Valor came in very well and gives Mark Pedowitz a boner; Searchers is still in contention.

Is it really predicting if she predicts it after they've already made staff calls to everyone? LOL

Well, to be fair, she wasn't really "predicting" anything - she just mentioned that they were "getting buzz" and/or strong early impressions. Which most social media pundits like to try to poo poo as being premature, but sometimes her very early scuttlebutt turns out to be true!

Deadline - Bubble Watch: Latest Status Report On Series In Limbo

CBS said:
I hear Elementary is expected to return and is staffing for next season.

2 Broke Girls is in the midst of tough renewal negotiations between CBS and producer Warner Bros. TV. The outcome is still up in the air, with a limited, 13-episode pickup a possibility.

I hear there is no hope for freshman comedy The Great Indoors. Also unlikely to continue is The Odd Couple.

Code Black clinched a last-minute renewal last season and, with a solid pitch for next season, I hear it’s very much in the mix, likely for a shorter order.

Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders is not expected to come back.

ABC said:
Designated Survivor is coming back. Also expected to come back is veteran Once Upon a Time, which is in a process of closing deals with four cast members who would lead a planned reimagining.

Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. also is getting renewed I hear. Quantico, appears to have a decent shot at continuing as it makes money for ABC Studios via international and SVOD deals.

I hear there is a small chance for The Catch to come back. I hear there is a very small chance of a possible limited order, like 6 episodes, for American Crime.

Not expected to continue is low-rated sophomore family comedy The Real O’Neals, with the network’s newest half-hour addition, Imaginary Mary also looking unlikely.

NBC said:
The newer Chicago shows –– Chicago Med and Chicago Justice — may not both come back. There had been some chatter about Chicago Med being possibly a bit more vulnerable but it’s all in flux. In a challenging off-network marketplace for dramas, there have been no syndication sales yet for Chicago Fire, now in Season 5, or Chicago PD, in Season 4, likely leading to reexamining the long-term business plan for the Chicago franchise.

Taken, which does well internationally for NBCUniversal, is looking good for renewal.

Timeless and Blindspot both are in limbo. Both have modest but loyal audience, appealing casts and do well in delayed viewing and both are from outside studios. I hear NBC is not losing money on them but it may come down to a scheduling decision on both, with their renewal contingent on the network’s needs for performers with built-in fan base.

Trial & Error looks promising to return for another installment. Two weeks into its run, fellow newbie Great News also appears unlikely barring a big ratings upswing next week.

Fox said:
It is unclear why Batman drama Gotham has not been renewed yet but it is expected to be. And despite not getting a back order, the well-received new drama Exorcist also looks good to come back.

Based on its legacy, 24: Legacy has a decent shot at coming back despite a very rocky first season. Fellow midseason drama entry APB is not expected to continue.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is expected to return. New Girl could get a limited, 13-episode final season. The Last Man On Earth has become increasingly narrow but looks promising to come back.

The CW said:
iZombie is expected to return.

Man, 24: Legacy getting another shot is surprising. Good for Corey Hawkins, I like him. Not in that show but in general. He left The Walking Dead (ambiguously) for 24, so at least it isn't a one and done deal. Agents of SHIELD renewal would be happy news for folks around here. I'll continue to be skeptical of its quality while not having watched it in several years lol For some reason I thought Elementary was basically dead after this year. Color me surprised on that one too.

Has anyone been reading the recaps for episodes of Fire Island on Vulture? They're hilarious! I don't even need to see the show. These recaps are entertaining enough. Lol. Plus, the reviewer says that he used to date one of the cast members and mentions it in every recap. I'd suggest giving them a read.

Fire Island: Series Premiere Recap
Episode 2 Recap
Episode 3 Recap

These are sooooooo good. I read them all and I've never seen a second of the show.

Happy as hell to hear it looks like AoS is being picked up. It deserves it so much after this last seasons quality.

My wife will be happy to see Quantico return
