Last month was incredibly bad.

Main OP

Bought only one game last month, but finished only one game last month. Both the same game.

I was hoping to hold out on Inside until closer to the end of the year, but by the time people were starting to get loose lips with the ending, I couldn't wait any longer. So I had to get it. So did, finished it in one sitting, loved it (in my top three for the year currently).

But after that... nothing. As in I played nothing else for the rest of the month. I was lacking enthusiasm to play anything for the month, I was feeling pretty fucking shit mentally and I just didn't have it in me to finish some games last month. So Inside was my only game I played last month.

Technically, there was a bit of Rainbow Six Siege I did play on Saturday, but that was part of the four-day Trials with Gold thing on Xbox One so that doesn't count.

This month will be tougher on the bought side, but hopefully a lot better on the finished side with No Man's Sky and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided all being bought this month. But even when I finish them (I'd consider reaching the centre of the galaxy of No Man's Sky as counting it for this if I reach it), I still need to get cooking on others. I'm close to the end of Tearaway Unfolded and I'm sure if I can get one or two sittings of it in, I could finish Call of Duty: Black Ops III done and dusted too.

I'm currently playing Resident Evil 6 and I have The Evil Within and Rayman Legends to play afterwards, the latter I just picked up for £3.99, it's a game I've always wanted to play and after trying the demo I was totally sold by the Castle Rock level and bought it immediately after. I also bought the Bioshock Collection in the last Steam sale and I'm looking forward to running through that series for the first time when the remaster hits.

Bigger update for me. Finished Wolfenstein: TNO tonight, which is a hell of a great game. Also bought/played NMS for 30+ hours and I'm certainly finished with it in it's current state.

Started playing Rebel Galaxy, but I'm having a hard time getting started in that one. I want to like it, it's very cool, but I'm running into issues with the first mission.

Also downloaded and have been enjoying Forza Apex, but that's free so it won't count to my total.

edit: Welp I have 7 hours in Rebel Galaxy now, and will continue playing it. Definitely worth the $10 or whatever I spent on it.

August was as bad as July, if not moreso. Merely for the fact I at least beat a game last month compared to none this month.

Main OP

Two games bought this month, but neither of them finished. No Man's Sky has burnt me out for now and I'm not very far in with Deus Ex. And September is not any better in my eyes with The BioShock Collection and Forza Horizon 3 - and possibly one more September release (dropped Titanfall 2 from my day one list, so need to determine a game to replace it, possibly a game coming in Sept - like FIFA, etc) - all dropping.

I need to get Deus Ex out of the way and then see about getting a few short games plus games I'm close to finishing out of the way for September to help boost the numbers before the crazy Holiday period with Mafia III, The Last Guardian, Dishonored II, Watch Dogs 2, Gravity Rush 2 and South Park. And that's all before, like I said, the replacement for Titanfall 2 which could slot at anytime between September and November depending on the game's release.

Basically: sigh. Just as I had put in some good numbers in June and now they're going to get eroded with a fall into negative numbers by November unless I get my shit together.

• The Talos Principle (PC) - A fantastic first-person puzzler similar to Portal. I also really enjoyed the writing that is a mix of philosophy, computer science and history of religions.
• Syndicate (PC) - If you get it from Origin it is near unplayable in its original form. Once I fixed the severe input lag and narrow field of view, it turned out to be a solid FPS. All weapons felt great and it has some creative boss fights.
• Tricky Towers (PS4) - I didn't expect Tetris with a physics engine to be this exciting.
• Ultratron (PS4) - I like twin-stick shooters but this one suffers from too many distracting visual effects. Sometimes less is more.

September 2016 Update (09/29/16): I'm actually somewhat surprised that I managed to make a little progress this month. I'm being rather easygoing on my definition for beaten when Nitroplus Blasterz and Psycho-Pass have numerous bookends, but both of them seemingly come up short of classifying any particular path as canonical so I'll label any extra runs as long-term for completion status. Outside of whimsical purchases, I should have the next two months on a flexible schedule where I can chisel away at the backlog without any major releases clouding up my current plans. I've additionally stripped my rating system from future posts as I'd prefer withholding until the end of the year to drop my "final" impression in a retrospective posts across various threads.
