Didn't watch this week.

Might just catch up when I'm on Christmas break or something. Just not feeling it this year :(

TheSeks

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
So Dandy killed Matt Bomer from White Collar.

Basically.

And Ryan Murphy, you dick! You show me him in his briefs for all of 10 seconds before killing him. *shakes fist at this injustice*

The post-ep3 eps have been really solid and back to where they were in S1/S2 now that they have plot momentum again.

The scene where she learns she's a XX woman and not an XY one was fantastic.

Yeah, that was another good one.

Also, note to the writers: No one gives a fuck about Meep. Because you never gave us a reason to.

That murder scene was brutal to watch :(

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Can someone please tell me what the deal with Sarah Paulson's character ?

one scene she's dead, next it makes it seem like that was a 'what if' flashback ..i didn't quite catch what was going on there ?

This episode was pretty crazy. Much better than last week's.

Dandy's channeling some Clockwork Orange (especially since they always show his big white room with those weird angles) and American Psycho.

It was all in the mind of the guy who wants to kill them.

This wasn't as cringe shocking as the past 3 episodes but it still was on point. Aside from Basset's character finding out she can be a mother this episode was pretty depressing as everyone learns or relearns things they really didn't want to be confronted with. I loved how the mother instantly knew her son was the killer.

Yeah, that was another good one.

Also, note to the writers: No one gives a fuck about Meep. Because you never gave us a reason to.

I guess relying on their audience to have empathy is too much to ask.

As long as you are talking about the scenes that came right after he drove off with the 2 women I would agree.

That opening scene where he doesn't get credit for the 2 displays wouldn't play out that way if it was all in the head. That had to be a flash forward sequence, so Sealman is going to die. Whoever is the 2nd exhibit is the mystery.

Yea imagining the scene with that negative part seems stupid.

I like Jessica Langs singing am I crazy?
It's not as bad as they are making it out to be. It doesn't make sense.

Slightly cackling at Dandy's killing scene
Also called the fact that the strong man was gay. Was surprised he didn't man handle Basset though

I'm surprised at just how little Sarah Paulson seems to be in this. I thought she would be front and centre this series but theyre definitely being played as a pawn right now. Now that shes being sold to Dandy (completely shocked it went down that route, did not see that one coming) hopefully she'll play a bigger character. I'm still convinced one twin will die first and this episode just reaffirmed that

I agree with what someone else said in here that no one cares about meep or Evan peters' angry feelings towards his death. I get that he'd be upset and annoyed but the way they are doing it feels very forced and fake. Especially given the fact that every other character has just brushed it under the rug

I think we're meant to empathise with Meep because, for some reason, him and Jimmy grew up together through the Freak Show. They have that history together and Jimmy is very close to all of the freaks.

The problem is that this isn't communicated to us as the audience at all. They're expecting us to just feel sorry for him but we don't because he wasn't developed at all.

Which brings me to my other point - tonight I genuinely felt sympathy for Elsa. She truly is terrible and has no idea, and she's so impressionable when it comes to attaining fame. But my sympathy really reached it's peak when she started to sing tonight and everybody was clearly not interested. Knowing her backstory was integral to me feeling this way.

Of all the Lange characters, I feel like she's the most pathetic of the bunch and the most unique of all of them thus far, I'm really enjoying it. I love her little rivalry with Marlene too, Marlene probably has no idea who the fuck she is either which makes it even funnier.

Good episode, surprised it hasn't gone to shit like past seasons. Or maybe we just haven't reached that point yet...

This might sound a bit cold, but I hate this focus on meep from Jimmy. We knew next to nothing about him, to try and elicit sympathy over his death is feeling a little hollow and falling flat.

Surprised Dell is gay. Were there signs? Feels kinda like it's come out of left field.

I've had my fill of Lange singing. Please. Stop.

The scene with the twins was weird.

Dandy is really starting to grow on me.

That murder scene though. Fuck, almost as unsettling as the one in the opening episode at the picnic and he was still alive when he started decapping him? Ugh.

Precious!

Holy shit at the scene in the doctor's office.

I'm surprised Elsa is apparently going to sell the twins. Seems strange, what was the reason? Getting rid of the competition when it comes to their TV appearance?

Relying on the audience to have empathy for a character most of us didn't even know existed until he died is too much to ask, yes.

Slightly cackling at Dandy's killing scene

Same. It was a darkly funny scene. I'm glad it wasn't played 100% seriously.

Exactly.

We're totally going to end up with StrongMan x ConArtist aren't we.

Of course.

Lots of signs. His inability to get hard for Angela Basset, for one.

Yeah. She's jealous and wants them out of the picture.

You mean aside from the fact he was seeing a woman with a beard and is now in love with a hermaphrodite? Screamed of liking men. Honestly when Basset (I really need to learn some character names) started bleeding with Jimmy I half expected it to be loosing her popping her hymen because she and dell just did anal.

As for Lange I was more upset it was a song that we'd already had. I'm expecting any other musical number that she'll do will be some swan song suicide thing

Which episode was this? I have a terrible memory when it comes to this show. Maybe the episode they were introduced?

That's a fair call, but I honestly didn't think much of it. I thought he might be into the more kinky side, but gay wasn't something that crossed my mind.

Makes sense in hindsight though. There were plenty of signs.

9 episodes into season 3 and not a fan of the change of pace and tone from season 1/2.

They could be doing more with what they have :/

We tried to warn you! :(

S4 is actually good again. (First 3 eps are tedious table-setting though.)

I just watched the latest episode.... I think I'm gonna throw up :(

I can usually take my horror pretty well, but that scene with
the gay dude was plain disturbing and going over my line of 'acceptable'.
Nightmare fuel.

The show's not asking us to empathize with Meep, they're asking us to empathize with Jimmy's guilt and shame over the events that led to Meep's death. Knowing Meep as a person isn't as important as Jimmy knowing Meep as a person.

Yeah. She's jealous and wants them out of the picture.

It's the con artist's game though isn't it?
He took the twins instead of her to make her jealous and he's counting on her going overboard, most likely killing them.

or did he do all that or was he dreaming it... I'M CONFUSED!

Last night's episode was pretty good. One of the better ones thus far, if not the best.

The show is improving, but I still don't really care all that much about its characters and wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to recommend it to anyone. I would do that with Murder House, though.

I like Elsa's singing, though.

Seriously? I hate that song she does in the blue suit. I was hoping more Lana Del Ray to be honest. Not because I like Lana, but because I like Elsa's version of it, far superior to the other song too.

I like all of Elsas songs so far I don't know why people are booing her...it's extenely entertaining. At least make her sing off key or horrible so you can relate that she's delusional...but she's pretty good

If Jessica Lange continues on, I hope she gets to play someone like Sister Jude AKA older gal not jealous of prettier, younger, more talented gal.

And I can't believe someone as beautiful as Matt Bomer with knee-weakening beauty, perfectly sculpted abs, and smooth as silk skin..... could not get at least some from Dandy. Did not expect a hunk of man hiding out of those overgrown mama's boy outfits.

And bloodbath and cringe-inducing scene yada yada yada.

Disturbing episode for sure.

And I got so much satisfaction out of Elsa being booed. I was like, "Yes! Reality check!"

She's not even singing. She's just sort of speaking loudly. It's deliberately bad and that episode hammered it in.

Lange is out as a full-timer after this season. Would be shocked if she doesn't drop in for funsies in the future though.

What is it with Ryan Murphy and his mistreatment of hunks? The hot neighbor guy in Coven comes to an awful end, and now Matt Bomer gets introduced as the strongman's (unrequited) love interest only to get offed by Dandy in the same episode! I do not approve.

Interesting twist with the strongman, BTW. Shame it all unravelled so quickly. Now poor Matt Bomer is just a small sad horrifically dismembered footnote in Dandy's serial killing career and the strongman's sordid sexual history.

What would I even do without shows like Teen Wolf that respect their hunks? Seriously.

I like Jessica Langs singing am I crazy?
I like it too. That Lana Del Rey song was the best, no matter what Price Peterson says.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest Dandy was perhaps not in his right mind. If Matt Bomer's physical perfection wasn't enough to snap Dandy out of it, he's definitely too far gone.

Also, Dandy is cute but he hasn't quite achieved hunk status. He's not entirely unf-worthy is what I'm trying to say. Too bad Matt Bomer didn't stick around for longer. He might've leveled him up if they'd had time to get down. (For a while I thought this might actually happen and that Dell would end up confronting Dandy for messing around with his guy. Might have been more interesting than what we got.)

This season is so ridiculously boring. Hopefully next season will be able to balance the camp and fun of coven with the steady plot structure of freak show.

They came to see freaks, not some old lady sing

But the show gave us nothing about Jimmy and Meep as a relationship to drive home how devastated Jimmy feels other than him just saying it. That's why it rings so hollow. He can talk about it all he wants, but the show never gave us a reason to care along with him.

This season is just there for me. It's not as fun and crazy as fuck as Asylum but nor is it as cheesy and lame as Coven. I keep waiting for something to really hook me and there is nothing so far.

I think so, yeah. It seems as though he's trying to manipulate Jessica Lange into doing his dirty work for him.

Watch porn instead?

I agree. And of course they kill off the most interesting character within the first few episodes. Everything else is crap. Jessica Lange is one-noted, Kathy Bates is phoning it in, Angela Bassett is just what the fuck. Just awful all around. I don't know why I'm still watching.

Basically. Can you believe Ryan Murphy has essentially made someone as talented as Jessica Lange play variations of the same character for four straight seasons? At least with the pat three seasons the fun writing saved it from being extra redundant.

I almost wish Coven had gotten an extra season.

that is the point though, isn't it? it's the irony of the fact that people don't care if she's good or not. She's old and she doesn't have two heads - what entertainment can she possibly be? It's the sad reality of the entertainment industry - no matter how good you are there's an expiry date on you and she's past that.
