American Voice Cast vs Japanese Voice Cast

Here are my non-fact-based-thoughts on this topic

Japanese voice actors are professionals. American ones, at least the ones that do anime, are just not on the same level. Most professional voice acting in the US seems to be done by actual actors who do it as a side gig, not by focused voice actors. And it's not just the voice actors, it's also or even more so the people guiding the voice actors.

A lot of this has to do with the fact that most media consumed in the US is natively in english. If you compare this to europe, where most media, especially blockbuster movies, need to be dubbed and native programming is rare or Japan where anime is big and requires a ton of voice actors, there is just less of a market for high quality voice acting in the US..

American voice talent is just bad. They seem to mostly come from a cartoon and children's television background, whereas British voice actors are more likely to have a theater background.
I remember reading somewhere something similar. I dont know anything about theatre work, but for whatever reason it helps make voice acting so much more believable. Or hell, maybe its just the accent everyone loves? Who knows. Maybe both.

That's why tv shows with english actors always seem to be better rated. A US cast show and a UK cast show can have equally no-name actors, but but the Brit show acting always seems to be better even if that show even has lower production value budgets.

Japanese voice acting is straight from PORN movies. I can't even play on tv or my theater audio system because ALL THE HOUSE IS THINKING I'm watching HENTAI......

Bro, I love when games have Latin American Spanish as an option. If a game has it, I'll play it that way even though I'm fluent in English and usually prefer it.
I was shocked when I played Gears of War for the first time and one of the voices was Carlos Segundo.
It was the first time I played a game in Spanish and didn't cringe at the "A Todo Gas" levels of dialog, which was my experience with Arkham Asylum and Dead Space back in '08
I played HZD in Latin Spanish and it was great, some voices sounded too "clean" though, like they were recording a voice over for a TV commercial or so though. For the absurd amount they talk in the game and how the voice volunte isn't anyways good to me in English, it was appreciated

The voice acting industry is fucking huge in Japan, with insane performance standards, and competitive VA schools. Veterans even go to training facilities, along with amateurs. Their practises in recording and rehearsal are also thorough and different to how things are done here. There is a reason why people who don't even understand the language prefer listening to it over native VA. Simply put, don't fuck with the Seiyuus.
