Art Academy: SketchPad |OT|

Sorry for DP but I had to post this. Unbelieveable! It's a sketch and not a photo...

Wow, some of those are amazing. Certainly gives lie to the notion that the gamepad doesn't afford any unique functionality.
True, and I'll add that I've never used the off screen play more than with Art Academy. It's a real relief to be able to watch whatever I(we) want and do a little artwork on the side. Just sharing a few that I've done, I've never really done any digital coloring outside of some photoshop tom foolery...welp, here they are...

Might as well post my Toonami Cover image, it's the longest time I've spent on AA in a good while!:

Miiverse Link (lots of other pics in the thread itself, all B&W tho).

Photoshop makes me forget how much I liked a lot of Natural media beyond Pencils. Good that this brings back those memories!

It is very nice to be able to mess with this while doing other things. Also frees up the computer too! (can draw on something besides Photoshop / Manga Studio / Program of ones choice!)

Nice Colorwork, btw! Great lighting and subtle transparency.

It's so great to get legit-lookin' pencil work out of this program, too. I guess it wouldn't me much of a SketchPad if this wasn't possible, ha. Look'n at this reminds me of thumbing through my own physical Sketch Pads.... love being able to see those Line Strokes.

Did I mention that Yotsuba! image is almost scary? Such a convincingly well done mimicry of plastic packaging! Scaled down, it really DOES look like a photo... even at full size, it's easy to mistake on a glance.

Man, I just tried this earlier. I loaded up a sample pic and tried that. I didn't do too well. I wish I could have that background music playing while I worked, though. It'd be nice to have that playing so I could zone out.

Can someone teach themselves or do I need to take some sort of drawing class? Never really did much drawing before, but this is what I did from just thinking of Luigi.

My longest drawing sessions are often accompanied by some form of music; it would be a very nice feature. Until then, though, Youtube Playlist, ListenOnRepeat (for looping Youtube music), and MP3 players/Computers will have to do!

I've created absolutely the worst picture of The Golden Girls on Miiverse.

The bigger news here is that you actually tried to draw the Golden Girls!

You might find some fun in trying to draw them in different styles, too. Exaggerating features in art, can make you take notice of things you wouldn't offhand (like who has a bigger nose, or what it is about that person that make you say "Hey, that's them!"), and it can improve your ability to capture them on "paper" well.

Yours can't possibly be the worse, I can actually tell who each is suppose to be! :)

Ho-ly bitch tits & jizzle bits! This is so awesome, I can't tell you how hard I'm laughing right now. I'd never thought I'd see the Golden Girls of all things on AA Miiverse. I love it!!! Now my day is complete :)

@ SAB CA, thanks man but I've got a long ways to go, if you or any other Gaffer here has tips to help me improve my work it'd be greatly appreciated. Always willing to learn :)

Wow the images here are absolutely extraordinary. If I could draw like these people, I'd spend the rest of my life just drawing non-stop.

This thread makes me feel hopelessly inadequate. How are there this many master level artists out there? And why do they all own a wiiU?

They also own a 3DS. The things these people make out of the Colors 3D are breathtaking.

Yeah, it's humbling. But hell, does it make me strive to create better pieces. I may never attain their ability, but I'll have fun trying to get there. :)

Had to smile at it, ha. You really don't see many comic-like things on the 'verse... I like doing them myself (in my Toonami threads), it's cool to see someone else trendin' that way!

Nice work with the dark blues (I swear they all feel lighter than I want them to be, ha).

Here's my mediocre Phoenix Wright drawing. (I'm not the best artist, but this is pretty good for my standards lol)

OBJECTION! Good if you can see your own improvement, too. Drawin off such pics can really help one notice their the little things that make their art different in quality to the more refined ones. Not bad practice at all.

Haha, no joke. I still don't feel comfortable doing quick sketches in this app, which is a shame, because I want to play with it's "Sketch" Nature more. Refining for HOURS at a time seems to be the best way! I commend these people for such dedication to pics!

The pics under that are much better, lol. Every once in a while, I apparently feel like drawing as if I was still scratching in my notbooks back in middleschool, ha.

Just got a Wii U and this app recently. I haven't used anything similar to Art Academy so I'm still learning, but here are some pieces I'm currently working on:

Here's Gyrados. It started off as a lion, but I thought it looked like Gyrados so I just went with that.
