Once he got like 10 dudes banned, like they were on a mission for him, his own minions or some shit. It was funny as hell.

Incidentally, the "shiiiiiiittt" image is banned too (it's basically the same as the "fuuuuuck" image", but with something else different, don't really remember what)

That was one of the most hilarious threads in GAF :lol :lol :lol

The stuff before they started messing with other threads was pretty cool, though (those picture edits, the weird ass-story about superman and something)

The word 'gay' is the exact opposive of negativity. The word 'retard' isn't. Besides, if you're calling handicapped or mentally challenged people 'retards' I don't think you should be the one complaining.

I'll add my contribution to this one... Been only been banned once, but got around 15-20 other people banned along with me as well. :lol

-Dont ask for PM's about a certain 'clown.gif' in the Killzone 2 thread.
- If you get away with it, DEFINITELY dont make a stupid joke about the gif.

Everyone got banned for a week, I got two-three weeks. Missed the release of Killzone 2... sucked. :lol

Also, whats the deal with this Mike Works thread? Any links?

1. If you only have an arcade stick for two of the current gen consoles and suggest that it would be nice to have a port of a game onto one of them consoles you will get banned. Even if you own the console that the game is originally on and you do not bad mouth it at all....

2. Don't joke about seeing pics if someone says that have pics of some chick they were once with. Even if its a joke you run the risk of getting banned

3. Don't social engineer someone to post their password...

These are the three ways i got banned

But seriously, you just have to play it by ear. I got a mini-ban the other week for needlessly trolling the PSP Go and Home in the same sentence, but then again I'd imagine I also get tarred as "one of the Sony ones" anyway. Just got to constantly play it safe :lol

Because retard isn't thought of as synonymous to one that suffers from Down Syndrome, but instead as an equal to the word "Stupid" "Dumb", but just more powerful.

The problems with memes is that there funny the first two times, but then people just kill by overusing it. It gets very annoying.

One thing that you WON'T get banned for is criticizing games and systems anymore. It used to be pretty harsh; I lost my first account when I was in Jr. status for simply saying the PS3's bluetooth was broken (referring to the 20/60 gigs losing sync with the older Sixaxis). Now, they have softened up considerably. The mod that permabanned me did lose his mod status a few months down the road, so maybe he was the main culprit.

I do think another part of it has to do with GAF's increasing intolerance for fanboydom. It's hard to have interesting conversations about games when the official threads are full of nothing but animated GIFs and relentless blowing of the game, the graphics, and the first party who published the game (not naming names or anything! :lol ).

I think the current crop of mods do a great job, honestly. I hate memes and have never used one myself, and equally hate backseat modding. I'm always happy to see people get the stick for those offenses.

That port begging stuff is no joke. I've seen people get banned for posts that in my opinion were not deserving of a ban. For example, in a PSP thread, "Man this game looks awesome I wonder if there's any chance of it coming to PSN"... banned. I mean, they weren't dogging the fact that the game was on PSP, just admiring it and wondering aloud at the possibility of it coming out on other systems. And ... banned? Seriously?

GAF is looking quite draconian, here. Harmless GIFs banned because of their popularity? Really? I can understand hackneyed memes becoming incredibly irritating to look at if you're more than 12, but it harms the subjective experience of many posters (I love seeing the airplane GIF, personally. Even though it's often overused, it was often used appropriately).

How much do mods really want to impose their own standards, here? Seems like a slippery slope to me. Soon, GIFs will be banned all together - and we all know this wouldn't be GAF without the GIFs. Nothing's perfect, let's not get caught up in trying to make GAF represent some unachievable ideal? Or maybe I'm missing something...

Hopefully, criticizing moderator decisions isn't a ban-able offense either.

Actually IIRC kosma got banned for acusing a guy of pirating the pc versión of AC and the guy did have a review versión.
