The Turkish government has sacked almost 4,000 more public officials in what appears to be the latest purge related to a failed coup last July.

They include more than 1,000 justice ministry workers, a similar number of army staff and more than 100 air force pilots, officials said.

In a separate decree, Turkey banned TV dating shows - a move previously mooted by the government.

Earlier on Saturday, Turkey blocked the online encyclopaedia Wikipedia.

The latest sackings follow the suspension of more than 9,000 police officers and the arrest of 1,000 more last Wednesday on suspicion of having links to the US-based cleric Fethullah Gulen.

People in both camps are for the first time in an union about the ban on those coupling tv shows! They were ultra trash tier reality shows about trashy whores and escort look-a-like boys invading tv channels from 9 am to 5 pm.

Um. I'm going to assume that this is some sort of second language humor, or that you were programmed to react instantly and have been ordered to label me as a "Gulenist"

And Gordon put it better than me.

The fuck?

Jesus. Russia and Turkey. Who knew?

Edit. Weirdly, the poster I'm replying to seems uncomfortable with Erdogan's shenanigans.

Yeah, but in a democracy you do not ban bad taste. You endure it and hope for something better to come instead.

It is kinda democratic, there were big change.org campaigns and lots of people were vocally complaining about them all the time. Even one of the hosts of those shows were complaning about the content and cast of her show. For the first time they listened to public i think haha.

So this is not a random ban, it was expected and majority people for asking for it.

You cant base your bans on change.orgs You just let the market decide and not the government.
You start from the light ones and then one day you wake up(?) finding yourself agreeing with the government or being prosecuted by it.
