Aren't these old anyways? I could have sworn I've seen em before.

yeah they are; I didn't want to say it though.

Oh well, as old as they get they're still awesome. <3

I would really like some gameplay screens though -- battle system, regular dungeon, town.

Am I the only one who HATES Akira Toriyama's art outside of anything Dragon Ball?

Isn't his art pretty much the same across the board? I think that's part of the charm for people who dig it. It is a love/hate thing though. Not too many people are on the fence about it.

A common mistake. That's not the Blue Dragon theme, even though you can find that tune on the website.

This is the Main Theme composed by Uematsu and played in front of an audience ->clicky

I love his artstyle. Since I was a child I was a fan of Dr. Slump and later Dragon Ball. It was really some sort of social thing here when those series were being broadcasted (mid 80s). All of we talked in school about Arale's or DB last eveneing episode. It was kinda cool.

I believe his style has had subtle changes through the time. And now he is returning to his roots:

Dr. Slump (best anime series ever)

Cowa

Every time the drawings are more stylished and "less-kiddy". Toriyama wanted to return to his roots and that's a reason why he wanted to stop doing DB. Cowa and other short-series he has done prove that. And also his game colaborations like DQ-series or this BD.

I understand there is people who doesn't like him but for me is like some kind of childhood-hero :)
I remember playing the SNES DB with friends after ending the classes...They were in french and we didn't understand shit...Then watch the episode and play more DB jejeje

Looks great, even if I'm not the hugest fan of this style it works brilliantly here. I still can't believe there's been so little revealed this close to release. I guess TGS will be the big coming out for this and Lost Odyssey. Can't wait.

that sure is the hope around here

I have always liked the look of this game.

But I am honestly more interested in who is writing the story and the gameplay. I have always liked Artoons games (Blinx series and Pinobee) but felt like they needed something a bit more to get their games over the top. Hopefully Mistwalkers aid will be that something more to make sure this isn't the usual "good but inherently flawed" Artoon game.

Ugh... I've always hated Akira Toriyama's character designs, but this game looks fun!
How the hell can a screenshot of cutscenes look "fun"? Maybe you have some of those playable screenshots. I gots to get me some of those. This game looks great, best looking game of 2006.

Dai no Daiboken is not from Toriyama.

Back on topic, the game looks great. Hopefully we'll finally get ingame footage at TGS

i dont know about final fantasy 13. and please dont bring that in an xbox 360 thread as its pointless and will never end PLUS me and you getting banned.

as for why i claimed its not real time? very simple.

1- it look the same quality as seen in the E3 2005 trailer. which was CG

Uops...I wasn't 100% sure about that one. The anime series were a bit light but I also followed them :)

Chrono Trigger is the only other material where i was "okay" with it, I dont know it just doesn't appeal to me outside of dragonball =/

I'll stop after this as I don't want to get off topic but I think CT art is more than "okay". In fact, I like it a lot more than DBZ, especially when they start turning into yellow haired freaks.

That's my favorite piece of anime art bar none. I still have a poster of it, though I can't remember if it was from Nintendo Power or it came with the Chrono Trigger game. The latter I think, as I think there's a map on the other side.

All of the Chrono Trigger art is real nice. I really like the sewer one as well with Robo holding a lattern. There's lots of nice detail in the image.

The screens are realtime. The postprocessing effects must be fooling you.

dude, don't take everything so seriously. You act like it's life or death trying to figure out what's real-time and what's not.

We'll all know in a week. Until then, I'll just trust Sakaguchi at his word that everything we've seen is legit

thank you :)
TGS is coming soon. anyway regardless of how the game look. i like the artist from dragon ball. and i trust Sakaguchi as well. so this and Lost Od = me buying them without thinking twice.

these 2 games are some of the main reason i bought xbox 360

All of those shots look real-time to me.

The white-haired girl looks the same in all the pictures. It's harder to notice the polygons in her hair in the last pic since all you can see are the hair strings on the side.

I also don't see any differences for this girl in both pics.

It really depends on the lighting I guess. The little guy with the helmet looks about the same in these pics. It looks like they fixed up the lighting a bit compared to this old shot.

Those characters have too many repetitive textures. They wouldn't have that problem on the other system.

Fire? I don't recall Marle having fire...

I should have realized this a long time ago, but I don't remember if I had any reason to justify that use of power. Was it not fire? Was it something else?
It's been too long since I've played Chrono Trigger.
