They wanted Halo on Windows Phone. That was the whole point, right?

I know! What the crap! I refuse to believe this wouldn't have sold.

Look at it this way, a lot of the kids and young adults who played Halo 1 are now likely fathers and mothers.

Likely cheaper to develop, shorter dev time and also gave MS some Windows-Phone exclusives (albeit incredibly briefly in hindsight).

The fact that this wasn't made doesn't indicate that they thought it would be a commercial failure. I suspect there was uneasiness about combining these two IPs like this, though.
