Here's a snippet of on the biggest changes:

The next big point is one that makes the MOBA player in me very, very happy. You no longer play as generic soldiers. Before a match begins, you pick a unique character, each with his, her, or its own unique power and weapon. You can only pick one though (the power or the weapon), and each is treated like a miniature score streak.

Though Treyarch is still tweaking things, when I played, I felt like I unlocked my weapon or power about as often as I unlocked a UAV.

Four Specialists have been revealed so far, with at least another five on the way.

  • Ruin’s weapons are Gravity Spikes, which allow him to leap through the air and slam down on his target with an area-of-effect shockwave. His power, Overdrive, greatly accelerates all movement for a short time.
  • Seraph’s (my personal favorite) weapon is the Annihilator, a huge, high-caliber revolver that kills enemies in one shot and has penetration rounds. If you can line up two enemies, you’ll take them both out. Her ability is Combat Focus, which triggers a bonus multiplier to score steak points.
  • Outrider’s weapon is the Sparrow, a compound bow with explosive bolts. Her ability is Vision Pulse, which expands out from the player, tagging all enemies’ locations and allowing you to see them through walls.
  • Reaper is a killer robot. His weapon is the scythe, a minigun that emerges from his arm. His ability, Glitch, allows him to flash back to wherever he was a few seconds ago.

Platform notes:

"We're working on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. That's it," he added. As for other platforms such as PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and - stop smirking at the back - Wii U? We were directed to Activision, which said it had no further platform announcements at this time.

I actually really like the character/class thing. That's a pretty big change, though.

That reaper should be fun. The glitch seems really weird, I wonder how they'll handle that.

Now I'm hungry again.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out with so many huge FPS coming out in the same month.

I believe in Treyarch to make a fun and complete experience.

Good riddance to the exo jump... AW felt way too erratic with it included.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
So yeah, repeating what I said on the other thread: Black Ops is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine, but I feel withdrawing from the premise of campy revisionist history seriously detracts from the identity this sub series has from the mainline Call of Duty games. And thus my interest. You could brand this Advance Warfare 2 and you wouldn't know the difference.

I feel like, perhaps even in the 'casual' public eye, this will seem too similar to Advanced Warfare.

Call of Duty games aren't usually so similar to the previous one, and this looks like it could be AW's direct sequel.

I think this might be a turning point in the franchise.

For the new topic:

Since it seems like no one is watching the videos of the opinions linked earlier, I'll post some of what was said.

-Slower movement speed than AW, especially in the air.
-Air dashing and wall running are not ideal for combat. Mostly used strictly for traversal.
-Water combat is "seamless".
-Much more ground based than AW.
-Wall running is stricter and less abundant than Titanfall. You won't be bouncing from wall to wall with little loss of momentum like in Titanfall
.

According to TmarTn's impression video, "The thrust jump is more to get around obstacles or to get onto a second story floor. It's not meant to evade gunfire. Most of gunfights that happen in Black Ops 3, happen on the ground. It's not anything like the Exo-Jump was."

It's really a bummer that they don't seem to be using the lighting or effects from AW. I thought both were quite good (especially the explosions) for a 60fps game and was hoping that this game would look similar but just have a better AA solution, improved AF, and motion blur on outside of scripted moments.

A few of my own screens from the PS4 version of AW to compare:

Didn't play AW and barely touched the multiplayer in Ghost, but everything I've heard so far has made me want to give BO3 a shot.

I wonder what Titanfall 2 is going to have to do to stand out when it comes around. This, AW, and even Halo 5 to some extent will have stolen a bit of the series' thunder. By the time it releases, its trademark mobility will be old hat. Maybe Titans will be able to parkour?

Couple things from those wondering I asked while in Gamestop.

You can preorder and get your Beta code now, it prints on your receipt. And they confirmed you can only pre order it for current gen and PC only.

To note, it's possible that someone like High Moon is doing a last-gen version, but Treyarch said they're only working on a current-gen version.

Didn't Treyarch put out a kind of different type of COD game when we were transitioning into last gen? I think it was called "Big Red One" or something? Wasn't that simultaneous to COD2 when it launched on 360/PS3?

I wonder if they're doing something like that?

Agreed. Shame, because AW was damn good looking.

Oh wow, the MOBA thing has me interested... but I am still weary for it being a COD game: low TTK and bad map design are dealbreakers.

What's that PC game that's doing the same sort of thing again? Overwatch?

I didn't expect this to be current gen only. Really cool move.

Like Nirolak said, it is possible they have decided just to be silent about last gen versions to try and drive sales to current gen. With as well as AW did on the 360 last year, I can't see them abandoning it just yet.

I thought the same exact thing, I played through AW and thought it looked significantly better than the trailer shown today.

Can't beat the old Dead Space team I guess.

While I believe that happened, IIRC PS2/Xbox never got the original Call of Duty and was only getting Treyarch games.

Doesn't look as good as AW on PC. Gameplay isn't evoking the previous BLOPS game but some amalgamation of AW x Titanfall.
Didn't expect disappointment from Treyarch

Holy shit, for real? I may go ahead and do that later today.

Seriously, SO MUCH MISINFORMATION going around.

A) The game is almost surely NOT Current Gen only. Activision are not that stupid, to lose the millions of sales they can still get on PS360. This is exactly how it worked last year too. Treyarch is working on the current gen game, and another studio will port it to PS360. This is what all the articles point to anyway and if it were, they would just outright say it.

B) The Beta is not happening any time soon. This is EXACTLY what they did with Destiny as well. They are going to give you a unique little code that you will put into the Beta site. You register it with a username and select your platform. Then, when the Beta starts, they keys will be deployed from there. It is actually a much smarter way to do it, because then they don't have to deal with the retail nightmare that is issuing codes. That always ends up as a huge clusterfuck.
