Capcom: "We've got no plans for PS Vita Monster Hunter at the moment"

Pretty much this. I wonder how much money nintendo keep shoving into capcom's pockets to keep on their systems. Just got to hope that sony can come up with some similar system movers. MH pretty much solely carried the psp in japan.

I think deals to bring the IP in the West are the key here. Sony didn't bother to bring over neither MHP3rd nor its HD version, while Nintendo is doing that for MH3U and it's even hosting the online servers, which is, if you ask me, a great deal for Capcom. This means that MH4 is likely to arrive sooner or later, and that Capcom doesn't have to care about distributing and promoting the game outside Japan.

Well, it's official: Capcom isn't saving Sony's handheld this time. Sony, get of your butt and make some games for it already.

I hope they change their minds someday. The platform is just perfect for Monster Hunter.

But yeah, if (and that is a big if) there is Vita MH in the plans it won't be revealed until MH4 sales have died down. Then it will be ported up the ass on everything. I just don't know if Vita is the first platform they would be looking at with PS4/Wii U or whatever.

Wouldn't it be wise of them to just keep mum about a Vita release until the 3DS sales die down and then flip the switch?

You know people will double dip for improved visuals, framerate and exclusive monsters.

If I were Capcom, that's what I would do.

When are 3DS sale going to die down? don't see it happening until the HDDS comes out

He could have not responded at all if MH Vita was being planned. It's a shame, but I personally far prefer the "clones" to the original MH.

Has MH been announced for Vita? No

What is Capcom's USA Online/Community Specialist going to say on their forums? Exactly what he said. There are no plans for MH Vita.

I can imagine Capcom might put a Monster Hunter game out on Vita if they see Soul Sacrifice having success.

So they don't need to worry.

To be fair, it's not that we saw many MH porting lately. All of them were "in-house", so MH3 from Wii to 3DS/Wii U and MHP3rd from PSP to PS3. It's not that MH3 went on PS3 and MHP3rd went on 3DS.

I really wonder. Were PSP fans acting like this:

Capcom isn't a charity.

Completely fine

in 2 years time people will still be talking about MH on Vita. Cant people just drop it already.

Once MH4 on the 3DS drops this port begging is going ramp up.

Yep. The 3DS is the dominant console in Japan, MH sells in Japan, and the series has been doing wonderfully on that console.

Why change a successful formula?

When Nintendo fans were asking for MH on DS? Funny how a change of platforms have people swaggering about.

One of Sony's biggest mistakes of the vita's launch is not have a monster hunter ready. Even if they had to fund it themselves, maybe vita would be in a different position.

How much success is worth the unprecedented split in their userbase?

I am not saying there's no number that's worth that, I am just curious how successful Soul Sacrifice would have to be.

Was the DS even powerful enough to handle MH?

I figured if it was, Capcom would've gladly brought it there as even at the height of it's success, the PSP was always over shadowed by the DS's monstrous sales.

All those lost potential sales during that era.

Stereotyping wide swaths of people through the actions of a few forum users isn't doing you any favors.

The PSP sold very well in Japan. The Vita is not selling very well in Japan. That's the difference.

This isn't a matter of platform loyalty----it's just business.

Well that, and the DS's capabilities doesn't really fit into their vision for the IP.

We don't have enough info to know what happened behind the scenes. For all we know, Sony may have made an offer but Capcom just liked Nintendo's offer that much more.

When did I ask for MH on 3DS? It was clearly, obviously not powerful enough for the game. If you can point to me being hypocritical on the matter, I'd really love to hear it.

There was virtually nothing on the level of this back then in regards to MH on DS.

Meanwhile, there was a lot of port begging for DQ9.

But honestly a port of a MH game for Vita is not some impossible idea. Capcom could do just a lazy upport for MH4 year after the 3DS release and it could sell 200k+ or whatever with minimal effort.

Created specifically for Vita? Not happening.

Also RE for Vita is a bit different. That would probably sell like shit anyway so there is no point really for Capcom. MH is free money.

Never said I was stereotyping but I apologize if I plucked your nerve. It obviously has nothing to do with loyalty. Capcom can't even keep their stories straight when dealing with RE4, Revelations, etc. MH being on a Nintendo only platform at the moment is not an outcome of poor sales for the Vita considering a MH was planned for 3DS even before the Vita was released.

The decision to make a Monhun only for the 3DS and not for the Vita was made long before the Vita was known to be a flop, I think. Monhun Nintendo exclusivity was signed way before the lousy Famitsu/Media Create numbers.

EDIT:- What Wynnebeck said.

If they do put Monster Hunter on Vita, then they do. It's Capcom. They'll try to squeeze every dollar they can.

If they don't, then, don't be particularly surprised. It's not like putting MH on the Vita is this totally logical thing that, if only Capcom thought about it with their hearts, they would do.

If it makes you feel better, one day Monster Hunter's status as a trophy will be diminished. Maybe the next big thing will be on the Vita or whatever system you are championing. Time will tell.

Ain't MH3 and MHP3 or whatever basically same games?

No.

They were projecting 2M at the end of March when the game was getting released in March. They obviously expect more from a new mainline title.

I thought there was a slide from the last financial report having MH4 still at 2mln. Anyway, those are official projections, they cannot downplaying with investors just because.

MH3G is close to 2m right?

Yes.

Didn't really expect it so no surprise there.

Sony probably already know this too, that's why they made Soul Sacrifice.

From the unveiling of the Vita it was pretty obvious the 3DS was going to dominate.

What does what Alberto said have anything to do with the point you're trying to make?

Also it would be totally cool if you could find quotes from those people being hypocrites, because then they'd deserved to be mocked endlessly.

Based off of what?

A chance for MH to be multiplatform and potential to be the best selling vita game....
Are the Vita numbers that bad :(

No, what happened was that Capcom and Nintendo struck a deal to put MH exclusively on Nintendo platforms. Once the Vita came out and sales showed it was doing well, it basically justified Capcom's decision to not put anything on it depsite MH being on PSPs beforehand. In any case, there are MH-like games coming to Vita so it's not all bad.
