Excellent news.

I don't think I've ever seen Waltz do a poor performance. He was even enjoyable in Zero Theorem, though the movie was otherwise quite dull.

EON had their chance. He pitched a period version of Casino Royale that would reboot the series. They dilly-dallied, and finally rejected the pitch... only to make a current version of Casino Royale that rebooted the series.

That's the story as I understand it, although I'm sure there's more to it (and I might have gotten a detail wrong)

Anyway I got the sense Tarantino isn't a big fan of EON so much anymore.

If you see the way that EON, well Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson like to try and make the most of every facet of their producer moniker, you can see why a director like Tarantino and them would clash massively. He has a very strong personality. So do they and they make a lot of suggestions... QoS is a masterclass in total producer control over a director.

After Skyfall I'm surprised Mendes came back, as a little birdie told me he didn't have that great of a time finishing that movie. Craig probably convinced him to stay but to have a long break first.

I find that he coasts on that fast-talking, eloquent charmer style a bit to heavily.

I have seen performances of him since the 80ies on german television before he went to international stardom, and he has always been like that..

He is basically playing himself in every role..

(which almost every famous actor does, see Sean Connery, Clooney, etc)

And for the next Bond movie, I hope they go back to the Casino Royale formula and abandon the cinematographic cheesefest that was Skyfall.

Can't WAIT to see this now. Great idea.

Really thought that Ralph Fiennes was a great fit as the new M in Skyfall. Looking forward to seeing more of him too.

He is perfect for a sarcastic psychopath role. But then again doesn't he seem to be hired for that role all the time? It will still be interesting and fun to watch I hope.

That and the raise that comes with grossing $1 billion :p

Because I find him to be one of those actors, in his American roles anyways, who tends to give almost the same performance regardless of the film/role. Kind of like how I never buy George Clooney as anything but George Clooney, I feel the same about Waltz. His characters in Django/Bastards were different on paper, but the performances were basically the same thing.

I doubt it will be Blofeld simply because Craig's run is almost over and Blofeld seems like something they'd do over a multi-film arc with the next Bond.
