Conduit 2 for Wii.

So you make a thread with next to no details. :lol

Why not make it a NP thread.

You want me to actually read the issue? I generally save that for the weekends when I'm at work not working.

And yes, Sega is still publishing it.

The last game ended with a cliffhanger, so I'll be playing the next one for sure. I really liked the last game, to be honest. It was simple but good fun. Loved the ASE, but I hope they do more with it this time.

Fantastic. Haters will hate because of the graphical drop, but as a port its really very good.

Is this stuff from the mag?

Though High Voltage isn't ready to spill the beans about specific[online] modes just yet, the studio promises a bevy of new gameplaytypes, as well as the return of the first game's innovative BountyHunter mode.

As you might expect, weapons like the Vortex Cannonwill add a few wrinkles to online competition, as will the introductionof different character classes, each with unique attributes. You'llalso be able to unlock suit upgrades that bestow your character withspecial skills; robotic legs, for example, will let you sprint greaterdistances."

"Right now, the plan is to have one primary suit slot and two secondaryslots where you can equip upgrades, but that may change in the finalgame. From a purely cosmetic standpoint, you'll have tons of options tochange your character's appearance using the same modular system theteam uses to diversify enemies. For those who prefer to keep theirgunfights local, Conduit 2 will feature a two-to four-playersplitscreen option for all of the game's competitive modes.

And whenyou want to take a break from blasting your friends and loved ones, youcan team up with them in the new co-op Invasion mode. Up to fourplayers can join forces (either via splitscreen or online), and thechallenges they'll face are unique to this mode. Further details remainunder wraps, but we always welcome the chance to eradicate some alienscum with our fellow humans."

"Their first order of business: expanding the game's scope, "In thefirst Conduit, I think the core experience is very sold," says producerJosh Olson."

M+ support? Games with Wii Motion plus seems to get a critic points boost by about 1 point.

HVS, if you're reading this, please lock the multiplayer at 30fps or something stable. I cant say I'm a fan of The Conduit, but the choppy framerate butchered online. Its the same with every single pointer driven game on the Wii; if the framerate is low the pointer stutters around the screen and feels nowhere near as tight and precise as it should.

Just look at COD4 and Red Steel 2. Stable framerates and the controls feel smooth as silk. Its imperative, as it will literally make or break the flow of controls.

It's just like CoD4 on the HD consoles, just with brand new awful resolution and lowered framerate. Other than that, it's pretty good, the controls are fine, the online actually works and it's good fun overall.

Ok yeah like I said if this is true then I may very well pee my pants.

But since you (the owner of the magazine) say it's true then...well I need new pants.

Four player splitscreen? Very good, splitscreen has been too ignored this generation... and wasn't the first Conduit online multiplayer only? That change is good to see.

Also obviously the game did well, if it's getting a sequel. I know we'd heard that, but it's good to see more confirmation, and another hardcore game on the Wii. :)

Are there any screens?

I just started playing the first game.

I played one online match (with 8 people, no waiting around) that was like Oddball from Halo, which I won. So I'm now retired from the online portion of the game, undefeated.

I started the single player and I'm still trying to get the controls customised to something I like. Narrow corridors and a story that hasn't grabbed me yet, don't fill me with confidence though. Still, I've not been put off playing it, yet.

Yeah, the first game was a generic shooter, with some mediocre level design, but at least the controls were great and it looked alright.

It's a 6~7 game. If they can make this one better it could be worth a try, even if not buying at full price. Also, playing FPS online with wiimote controls is great fun. Too bad Conduit's multiplayer is glitchy and runs like ass. Fix that and I'm paying attention.

Plus, the plot twist by the end was undeniably cool. If the game really will take part
on another planet
then that's their chance to show some better art design.

Hmm. First one was a pretty mediocre experience with a decently fun multiplayer. The end of the singleplayer seemed higher in quality than the rest of the game, so I hope Conduit 2 improves on that.

How is the art? Graphics?

It wasn't either this or Go, Diego, Go! Safari Rescue 3 for the Wii. I think they made the right choice.

Or Animales.

Seriously, that is the only game in their stable that is worth mentioning.

Funny enough, it is the only game that they are not willing to show/release.

All they need to do is get some better production values, esp in story telling, better level layouts and better mission structure and the game would be great. Also give more abilitities that that Floaty gizmo.

Conduit was a solid game if not a bit lacking in those aforementioned areas.

So um is there any sort of hint as to whether this will be a prequel or sequel? So strange from going from Washington D.C. to Atlantis. Are we going to see the Drudge wearing armor?

If High Voltage can pull a Red Steel 2 (that's right it's the standard for this type of thing) with Conduit 2 then I'm all for this. The foundation they had with Conduit 1 was good. It needed more work of course. The controls were there. Now if they can focus on art style the way Ubisoft did with Red Steel 2 and focus on story (first one had potential I felt) we could have something in the end.

I just want one thing. If they can't make their online secure then they should simply scrap it and just focus on the co-op. No online is better then half assed, buggy, and cheat open online.

Why Sega is backing this shit and ignoring their own japanese studio's produce is just bizarre. High Voltage must have some photo's of their execs them wanking to Sonic porn or something :lol

Yeah, I'd love to see that with full-usage of Quantam 3, and it is retail so it'll be at it's fullest.

Why on Earth are they keeping this underwraps for so long?! :(

Fuck the hate. The original was far from exceptional, but it was solid for what it did. I'll be there for the sequel.

John Harker

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
Would seriously consider buying with solid couch co-op and local multiplayer.

It amazes me that this isnt mandatory for all Wii games with a multiplayer mode.
Hell, it should be so for every damn multiplayer game regardless of online or system. Online is only 60% penetration! Stop ignoring the other 40.

Because they want to make a good game this time?

First was good fun with great controls. I also like how the story tied into actual events in history, so Ill be there. Just please...no more of those damned mines HV. One of the worse design choices ever.

Im in this camp.

as long as they build on everything from the first game and make improvements in the art and story, it'll be fun.

I will pass unless it utilizes Motion Plus, Wii Speak and/or Vitality Sensor.

I don't care about the game's graphics, just make the gameplay fun and innovative. That's the most important aspect of any game.

I'm going to keep my eye out on it though.
