I got the impression it was a simulator. They'll need to work harder with their messaging as to what exactly this game is about

they said it's arcade sim, although my gut feeling said it's closer to sim than arcade(like burnout or ridge racer), they just can't openly said it because they already have GT as their de facto sim racing game.

Probably you can just have normal non livery car but whole game will be based on club system so liveries will be important.

It's not a sim racer at all (as they state in the video), so they I guess they don't feel mechanical damage is necessary.

Okay I just watched the video and it seems to me that they sound like the guys Turn 10 when they talk about community and social aspects of the game. Then again, this isn't a simulation racing game.

I'm guessing this will be some sort of mash-up of TDE and NFS.

this is the launch game that looks like it'll fill the gap between launch and the next set of releases nicely. i can see the social stuff being a lot of fun right at the start of the generation when only dedicated people have the system and the don't have other games on the new system to distract them.

EDIT: Looked through the video now. To be fair, the clips look like much of it could be in-game. The ground textures etc seem a bit blurry and all.

They are really not breaking any new grounds with the visuals [PC has some awesome games in production], they are just getting a incredibly large budget to forge great game.
