What's the best way to set up a raid party? I have been playing the game for a few weeks and am at level 32 and would like to do a raid, but none of my friends play.

Use this thread, try Reddit fireteams, join the100.io, go to DestinyLFG.

I joined a good the100.io group a while back and if you know ahead of time when you want to raid and you like to start on time then it's a great way to group up. We now have a core group and we usually bang out the HM KF raid three times a week quickly with almost no wipes.

It takes a bit of effort to get started and find a good group but it's worth it if you want to raid with good people at specific times.

state your intentions right here. there are also new-bee raids that are organized by Hawkian that run every Thursday. (it's in the OP of this thread)

You have a few options.

-Post here. Asking for a group doesn't always get people interested. Starting a group with numbers (1. 2. Etc) is more eye catching.
-LFG. Going on these sites let you look up for the specific raid you want or post your own. More people, but sometimes not as nice as GAF.
-the100.io. Another site, but this one is mostly for people with busy schedules.
-Join a clan. GAF has a lot of clans. Try to join one and play with those people.

Hey folks, can't seem to find a clear answer on this. I have vanilla Destiny (pure vanilla, no DLC) but I've never found the time to play it.

I'm only interested in playing through the campaign / story (with one other) - we don't have the time to commit to regular multiplayer or raids / rotations (let's say we'll find maybe one night for a couple of hours every 2 weeks). Should we upgrade to Taken King to get the most out of this? Does it add anything to the campaign?

I only ask because the Legendary Edition is £25 right now on EU PSN (until midnight tonight).

Thanks, fellas. I essentially want to start with Vault of Glass. I have a light of 165 right now and have never done a raid before, so I'm not sure if it would be better for me to do a newbie raid or play with people who have run it before.

6th Rift game, my team still did not go for the rift. Turned off my TV and taking a break. Why play an objective mode if all you want to do is TDM??????

TTK has the best PvE content out of all the expansions, hands down.

Vanilla gets a lot right, but the single player ain't up to Bungie's usual standards. The story & campaign in Taken King are night and day different. House of Wolves is also underrated in this regard.

Taken King also adds a lot of strikes that are actually interesting and more enjoyable to replay.

Your better off doing a newbie raid. It will be more fun for you too. Hawkian runs newbie raids once a week usually.

I quit salvage because of this. Game kept placing me with folks who played it like it was TDM while the enemy played it the right way. Thankfully I was done with getting 100 Salvage wins.

Though I was surprised halfway through my most recent salvage match (it was daily crucible and I needed some marks) when my teammates decided to actually play it like salvage. Came back from 1500 points to win it and because they stopped screwing around.

Wonder why it is that I am matchmade properly in patrol into every instance except Court of Oryx? It's absolutely barren there, whereas everywhere else seems pretty well populated.

I'm having to log off shortly I'm afraid. Seems so stupid though, you'd imagine of all the areas of the Dreadnaught to prioritise matchmaking, CoO would be the top.

Ah, ok. Agreed though. They made such a big deal out of it before it came out and now it is really tough to find anyone doing it.

When you're going into that area, walk don't run. Destiny uses the corridors between areas to give itself time to do the matchmaking. The dreadnought probably has the quickest/shortest times between areas (which is why they don't allow sparrows I suspect).

Walk slowly (not even top walking pace) between areas and you should get someone....

The game is pretty quiet though so it's not guaranteed.

Man, that works? Sounds like a good plan though. I'm going to eat now but then come back and give it a go I think.

Saved it and going to upload it. That was messed up, and it was such a good run. Good playing with you guys. We'll get that bastard next time.

Best quote of the night: "These ogres remind me of a prolapse porn I've watched before". Once you imagine it, you can't unimagine it...my brain is screwed.

Yeah, if Bungie wants such a restricted fight, they should work on the bugs that also break the rules.

Hey, if you have the uploaded link, would appreciate it to check strats!

Randoms suck in this game. I'm playing solo salvage. Go into a match and my two team mates are both afk. I give them a couple of minutes and leave. No point.

Appreciate the responses folks - finding information on how the campaign works in Destiny has proven somewhat difficult. Maybe I'm not searching for the correct terms - I only seem to get results based on vanilla only or whether it can't be played single player / offline.

We played around 2 or 3 missions when Destiny launched - in the same area. In each, the Dinklebot provided some narration / direction (such as it was) and in-between, we were taken to a hub area with shops. I think we'd just start over when picking it up again.

Some (uninformed) follow ups: Are the TK / vanilla campaigns distinct / separate stories - are they both launched out if the same hub area? Are PVE missions part of the campaign?

Detonated 16 bombs, didn't leave a scratch on that big hammerheaded bastard....

Happened to us too on Tuesday. Had another run where we detonated 16 bombs and it did less than half damage.

I also love teleporting Ogres.

Bungie don't care*. Year 2's version of Regenerating Minotaurs, Disappearing swords, etc.

Bugs that benefit players are fixed instantly. Bugs that harm or slow player progress aren't fixed until the content is outdated.

*I'm sure they care about player experience, but they evidently don't care enough to make the fix.

Did the NM KF yesterday for the first time yesterday, was pretty fun.

Is there any incentive on running it again before the weekly progress reset? Not really sure how that works.

I'm at 303 Light, should I care about Black Spindle or Sleeper Stimulant quests already?
I think I'm going to focus on getting ToM next.

So with Taken King, it includes the two Year 1 DLC packs and integrates everything into the same Director screen.

  • The Vanilla story will take you through each of the planets (including the moon) and is centered on the Vex. The end game is the Vault of Glass raid where you fight Atheon.

  • After you meet the Hive on the Moon, you unlock the first misisons in The Dark Below which focuses on Crota and his return to reconquer the moon. The end game is Crota's End raid where you fight Crota in his sword realm.
    20131217033849a0dnqutnrpi51gy6.jpg
  • As you travel to Venus, you need help understanding the Vex and visit The Reef, a social hub where the Awoken who live in the asteroid belt. There you begin missions related to the House of Wolves, a faction of Fallen lead by Skolas who have escaped and are rampaging across the inner solar system. The end game activity is the Prison of Elders, which recently held the House of Wolves and Skolas, and will again.
    destiny-fallen-enemy.jpg
  • At a certain point (not totally sure when but I guess after vanilla & tdb parts finish), you unlock Taken King missions which begin on a moon of Mars. Taken King adds many quest lines that further extend story and quests from Year 1, such as more things related to the Reef. Oryx has arrived and has Taken enemies across the solar system and you must stop him. His Dreadnaught hangs in orbit near Saturn and you will eventually take the fight to him, just as you learn that the Cabal have as well.

Sigh I still have like 70 Salvage wins that I need to just push out. Like 3 a day for a month.

Luckily after that I just need to do Rumble and I just need 50 more wins

I need salvage wins as well. Hit me up if you ever fancy doing some. Playing with randoms is to painful

^^^ Get this player to sign up if they can get on at that time ^^^

There is still 1 spot for a Vault of Glass newbie raid tonight at 9:00PM Eastern.

All my three characters are 319 in both the early and the late parts of the KF HM raid with their standard load outs. My warlock could get to 320 if I ever got a 320 ghost. My Hunter and my Titan need a few more things as well.

Broman is a 320. I am jelly.

Still don't have a 320 Class Item. Which they'd replace the guaranteed artifacts w/ rng artifact, class item, or ghost.

Easily the most comprehensive and straightforward explanation I've seen of this. Thanks for taking the time to type that up.

Will grab the Legendary Edition now.

you can use sidearms only if you want. Atheon has like a -500% HP Debuff against year 2 weapons

I want to do a run with at least one person getting a Scorch Cannon all the way to Atheon.
I haven't seen it done, but think it would be pretty fun to see how Atheon reacts to the damage from that thing in Times Vengance.

Does anyone have a totems checkpoint I can snag? My friends would waste so much precious time on the jumping segment if not lol.

I can give it to you now. I have to log on though. Do you still need it? Can you wait in there for me to switch characters and transfer the CP?
