Devil May Cry was an accident and a very welcome one. Hideki Kamiya and crew were assigned the next Resident Evil game (RE4 at the time) following the success of the series. “Team Little Devil” went to work but found their direction was ending up radically different in reference to the mechanics from the RE titles. A reported bug during development of Onimusha: Warlords where characters were juggling on hit has also been stated as the inspiration for DMC’s famous juggle mechanic. The team decided to take on the new direction and create DMC as opposed to what likely would have been the 4th entry in the RE franchise. The new development cycle resulted in a Playstation 2 release.

The fan forgettable Devil May Cry 2 released not long after without Hideki at the helm; replaced by Hideaki Itsuno. Despite being a financial success, the mundane tone, easier difficulty, and imbalanced combat was a turn-off for fans. It has been rumored that Itsuno came on late in the development and could only salvage the project so much.

Devil May Cry 3 was Itsuno’s turn-around success following DMC2. The prequel brought back a more youthful Dante will all his smart-alecky one-liners. The difficulty went from the mentioned easier DMC2 to a level of brutality. The difficulty settings were such an issue that different versions received different assignments based on region. The combat engine was re-balanced and the multiple-style system was put in place. The weapon switching system was enhanced and the gameplay depth is unparalleled even today. Due to the game’s success a special edition was released shortly after. The main addition was the ability to play as Dante’s brother, Vergil.

I had a tough time finding an audio track for this one. But I settled on another track from the DMC anime!!! I think it fits perfectly and definitely helps the best video ever.

I shared early stuff with DMC3 so I'm doing it again with number 4. My thoughts on styling with Nero...pretty boring. Of course I have to speed his shit up a lot and I'm not showing any DT, calibur side switching, or aegis shields.

Urge to switch...rising.

I also am getting 120fps on my 60" LCD TV... I'm pretty knowledgeable about these settings but was kind of caught off guard. It is smooth as fuck though. *shrug*

Where's the fucking enthusiasm DMC-gaf? We are probably getting the remakes now so start planning them combos. There should be sticky pad scribbles of combo chains during the day.

Anyway, just a quick word on this trip-post making me look like a forum scrub; or a gaf-blogger.

DMC4 is back on the burner. Why? No reason really. Back in action is DMC3SE with Vergil. Expect something maybe this month. I'm then moving on to turbo Dante and skipping vanilla SM. If I don't do that then turbo runs will just be a rehash, which I don't want. It should be much more SM centered. Dante turbo should hopefully be ready for NA anniversary on 10/16 but that might be tough to pull off. Then it will be back to DMC4.

I think the multiple DMC threads have deterred any kind of centralized discussion. It would help if the DMC HD Collection were actually announced and we got some details. At this point, there's a very good chance of its release, but until it's officially confirmed it's still just rumor.

And not to be too negative, but as rvy said, it's kind of hard to be too enthusiastic when there's currently such a huge rift in the fanbase. Seeing this thread really just reminds me of what's to come. And every announcement about DmC is truly draining... oftentimes disheartening.

It doesn't help that I just played a ton of DMC4, and I can't play DMC3 (well, I won't. The PC version is still awful for me.) I'll check out your vid when I get home though.

I'll only be excited with the HDmakes if I can buy them separately. If they come with DMC2 I'm not interested.

And also, so far only RAD and Bluepoint games have proven themselves with making really good HDmakes. Especially after the POP triology HDmake debacle I can't get excited unless I'm sure the performance will be up to par with the originals.

It's unfortunate, yes. Right now my mind is purely focused on the remakes though. Live in the gaming past of the glory days.

The vid is mostly a joke like some of my early stuff. My upcoming Vergil vid though will be worth checking out.

I was just playing though with my "enthusiastic" comment. Just checking to see if everyone is alive.

It also looks like I'll be doing the OT for the remakes if they do release. So pretend that sentence is important.

On future tense, I would like to look into options of HD capture from a console. Equipment, pricing, etc... If anybody has information, I'm all for it.

True story, capturing footage for my Vergil video killed my 2tb drive. I lost 1tb of non-DMC data (not porn but it very well could have been). I guess the drive didn't like me writing 1tb of video to it over and over and over...and over^infinity+1. Whatever platter has the middle sectors of the drive is totally screwed.

I'm currently scouring my drive using a RAW search to recover files. The 1tb data I lost is mostly backed up on a drive that somebody else has ATM, which is good. I also lost 2 minutes of usable Vergil footage (but recovered a 6s clip thus far, yes!). But from now on, I am using a special 1tb drive just to fucking capture. Take that technology, come at me you SOBs with your shitty mechanical drives that fail 80% of the time in 3 months. ^_^

OK semi-blog post related to DMC over. DMC combo videos is dangerous stuff. Hide you kids. I need the remake announcement to bring my spirits back Trollcom.

It actually ended up not being dead either. For a while it was so corrupt that it basically shut down my SATA controller from using devices; OS wouldn't boot. It was then put on my external enclosure (USB in this case) and it was then only messed up on itself. After getting a quick format done with a bunch of attempts, it went back to the SATA controller, and I pulled all the residual data I could noticing the middle sectors were messed up. Following that, I did a full format and did multiple health scans. No issues and even low count of bad sectors...ehhhhhhh

I now have a 500gb drive dedicated to storing the footage when needed. I don't care if that thing kicks the bucket.
