But what does Digital Foundry have to do with Microsoft or Sony? I mean, again, I have a PS4 pre-ordered, but I'm not blind. I mean I'm reading their analysis saying that the PS4 one is better, but I watch the video, screen shots and everything and the PS4 version looks washed out to hell. Christ, even the textures on the XO version look better from these screen shots. If you told me the PS4 version was actually the 720p one and the XO version was the 1080p one I'd believe you. How is that possible if the PS4 version is running at a higher resolution?
Can someone "XBO fix" the fountain pic. I wanna see it.
Is that Haze?
Thats Resistance 3 AA.
What I have learned in this thread is that it is ok for a 100 dollar more expensive console to have a lower res and framerate as long as the image is calibrated really badly.

I wonder why the PS4 version looks clamped? Or doesn't have the super whites like on the XO version. It's most apparent in this pic, when looking at the sun. As if the sun is dimmed, and not pure white, like in the XO clip. That is the most notiecable difference to me. Or perhaps it is from the XO version just having cranked contrast. But I would hope both versions have the same white point. regardless.
sorry if this has already been discussed.
Otherwise, yeah XO looks more crisp, except PS4 looks much sharper or better when looking at thin lines, like electrical lines or steal beams in the distance. Obviously an advantage of the resolution bump.
Can this be put in the OP?
Video Gamer Comparison:
I found it to be a much better comparison than Digital Foundry.
As the video below shows, the visual effects between both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are largely on par with one another, making the trade-off in resolution the only real barrier between each console.
And makes textures sharper too
Are you going to ignore all the other replies? From the scene with no shadows at all?38 secs PS4 is on a shadow. The gif I posted the Xbone isnt.
Atleast you accepted the crushed blacks before you continued on your meltdown.
Did any of you actually read the article or are you just blindly repeating what other's are posting?]
Better video than the DF video:

No crushed blacks or artificial sharpening. Also no terrible YT compression.
I'm going to bed.
I know fuck all about the subject matter and can tell the PC version is better. If people say the x1 version looks better than the ps4 version then you must also be implying it looks better than the pc version. The PS4 and PC versions have the most parity visually.
This is the craziest post I've read in this thread, PC is leagues ahead of either console.
I'm going to bed.
To be fair the article actually says 1080p in the body.
bingo bingo bingo....
take a look at the shots here...which one of the three doesnt belong??...in each and every shot (except for the one getting out of the elevator where the white stripe on the couch/chairs is missing on the PS4) the PS4 is WAAAAAAY closer to what the PC version looks like....the PC looking even more "washed out" (ie: more accurate) than the PS4 in some shots...
unless we are going to argue the Xbone looks better than the PC version...
nd with the console war heating up as we edge closer to the next-gen launch, DICEs shooter may end up being a key factor in the war between Microsoft and Sony, with the PlayStation 4 version displaying a clear advantage over the Xbox One.
The differences between the two versions will come as great concern to Microsoft. Just as it appears to be regaining traction from its fumbling Xbox One campaign, the revelation that at least one of next-gens major launch titles is noticeably weaker on its console will be enough to threaten to send the platform holder back to square one. Its difficult to tell how big a problem it may end up being until weve compared the complete multiplatform launch line-up it, but if the trend continues with further releases (as last weeks Call of Duty: Ghosts rumour suggests it may well do) even players heavily invested in the Xbox platform could be prompted to starting look elsewhere.
It may just be teething problems, of course, and as developers grow accustomed to working with Xbox One, issues related to native resolution may soon become a thing of the past. But that goes both ways. With the PS4 off to a stronger start, the divide between the two consoles may remain a constant as developers look to push that GDDR5 RAM and impressive GPU in ways they simply cant on Microsofts console.

Haha no
Its simple, to compensate for the lower resolution of the Xbox One, the colors are oversatured. The PS4 in comparison looks washed out, although that is how its supposed to look. The textures aren't better on Xbox One, DF said it themselves that they are equal. But what does Digital Foundry have to do with Microsoft or Sony? XB1 looks blown out. You guys should use the PC as baseline. That's how it's supposed to look
At this point in the thread, I fear some would argue that....it's maddening.
People are missing this as well. It's obviously at least partially by design, but people are too caught up in how "sharp" the X1 version looks -_-
Goddamn son lol
Mislabeled? The ground textures are gone/blurry on the lower pic.
Anyhow, the differences are tiny and I'd say that it'll be more important to see current gen vs next gen Face Offs this generation if this is the "big" and "twice as good" differences we're going to see between the hd twins. Especially if neither is guaranteed to get 1080p res.
ReadI know fuck all about the subject matter and can tell the PC version is better.
Parity my ass.
1600x900 is a disappointment. My roommate plays BF4 in 1920x1080 and Ultra Settings with an HD7870 (I'm not sure about the framerate, though). It's even more so disappointing after seeing the Killzone Shadow Fall graphics in 1080p.
720p? Jaggies? Variable frame rate?
Welcome to next gen, Xbox owners.
Look at the ground textures. Are we 100% sure these aren't mislabeled by DF? The so called "XO" shot looks like it has much better texture detail.
