DJ Hero? Any Hype?

what would be awesome would be some sort of 'set' feature where you do hour longs set with all the tracks mixing together.

I don't think anything's been announced about it really. Just a quick blurb from the devs saying it's a premium controller.

'Renegade Turntable Controller featuring premium metal controls and finish'

"So can you use the same turntable for Scratch: Ultimate DJ and DJ Hero?"

Highly unlikely, they're designed completely different. It would be impossible to play one with the other's controller.

More news...

No unmasked version ? :D

Day one for me...

If they got Kraftwerk in this I would call it music goty without even playing it:lol But yeah, Beatles has some serious competition. I just hope people who're too cool to play a Hero game anymore pay attention to this one.

Totally uninterested.

But, considering that all we've seen is the turntable, the game itself could shock and amaze

no, it won't. I was being polite

:lol

I'm really interested to see how many people will pick this up. But beyond that, I'll probably check it out after it drops way in price.

edited for terrible word choice.

If Daft Punk's in, I'm in.

Editt/// Is it reading to anyone else like Daft Punk themselves might be behind some of the mixes? If so, I'm even more excited.

My wallet is about to cry for three hours and down a bottle of wine and then watch a marathon with a pint of Ben & Jerry's.
And yes Daft Punk remixing Daft Punk generally leads to awesome.
Daft Punk remixing Queen should break the fabric of space and time.

That's what I've been assuming. The other in-game DJs did mixes.

I'm wanting this game, but can't justify it at launch :( Too many other games, and my living room is over 50% plastic peripherals as it is. I'll definitely get it some day though.

i was lucky enough to trade in some games to amazon when they had the deal Trade in $50 worth of games and get 50% off a game.

with the 50% off and trade in credit, i only have to pay $9.

Hadn't seen these posted, but these are from the new Game Informer that I didn't already see on the main list a page or so back:

Songs:

Cameo - Word Up!
Rihanna - Disturbia
Black Eyed Peas ft. Trippa Irie - Hey Mama

Mixes:

Bell Biv DeVoe - Poison vs. Cameo - Word Up!
Wale - Lookin' At Me vs. Black Eyed Peas ft. Trippa Irie - Hey Mama
Rihanna - Disturbia vs. The Killers - Somebody Told Me (Also a Guitar vs. DJ Mix)

I really don't know which version to buy. The hardcase/stand is a good thing.
Stand : no need to place the turntable on my table
Hardcase : when i'm done everything goes in my computer room and my gf doesn't have to say "please put in the right place all your plastic toys" like if I was 5 years old (>_<)°

But damn 200$ (199€?) is already hurting my brain. 149€ and I may buy it.

Meh, looks like shit. After skimming the tracklist the only track that sort of resembles proper club music (besides the Daft Punk stuff) is Pryda's Pjanoo, which is ruined by a terrible mash-up and random clicks and scratches. The majority consists of crappy pop/hiphop which was probably to be expected for a 'DJ' game targeting the mainstream/US market.

Still dissapointed though, if they really had to keep the tracklist 100% mainstream, they could've at least included some swedish/french/dutch house. I'm thinking about artists like Sebastien Leger, Laidback Luke, Axwell, Ingrosso, Chuckie etc. those guys are huge over here (I think).

Anyway, I'm done ranting. No sale.

Well, I'm hyped for the game but not the price, hehehe. I'm not sure whether I wait until the price drops, or grab it when it comes out...

But yeah, I'm very interested in this game even if particular songs are not to my taste.

I'm not sold on DJ hero.

Scratch looks like the real hip-hop game, and DJ hero looks like a mashup mix game.

+ The Scratch controller also looks far superior imo. But, I'm waiting before reviews before I order one, if they aren't OMGWTF amazing, there's no way I'm blowing $100 on one.

The setlist for this game really chaps my ass though. There's almost NO straight hip-hop mixes. I don't want fucking sabotage or Daft Punk or Motorhead in it. It's just going to suck if the one DJ game that 'wins' is the one with the terrible rock/techno/mashup setlist.

DJ Hero is at least attempting to replicate the feel of being a DJ by having you mix tracks. DJing isn't about a certain group of genres. It's not Electronic Hero.

Goddamn. I, for one, welcome our new nothing resembling proper club music or real hip-hop overlords.

Is that on the box? :lol

I'm quite familiar with what DJ'ing is though, thanks. It's just that if I were spinning stuff, most of these songs would be nowhere near anything I'd want to spin, especially if they are going to have vocals and shit that you can't properly hide/avoid with the DJ hero controller.

Really? Actually having you mix tracks? I just watched this video and please tell where the mixing is taking place. The only thing I see is one track playing with the vocal of another over it, while the player is adding small stutters and scratches.

Some of the videos that I've seen were showing a far deeper gameplay than what you're saying ("small stutters and scratches"). I'm at work so I can't post the links but you should browse the thread and you'll see by yourself.
But I agree that if you like hip-hop music then this game may not really appeal to you.

if you want custom tracks and more than playing a game get a djset.

simple as that. its not the granturismo of games, this isnt really a sim. shit seems fun to me so im getting it

I can understand not liking the setlist. To me that's 90% of rhythm games. However, you're wanting a hip hop game which in no way is what DJ Hero is trying to be.

There is mixing of tracks. Granted, it's set up very strict, but you do crossfades and stuff. Just like GH/RB. You're not playing. Guitar where you can do what you want freely. It's predetermined for you.

Yea, I'm already planning on getting Scratch, it just sucks that the one that stays truer to hip-hop feel is the one stuck in development hell.
