Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen PS4/XB1 |OT| They're master ports all, you can't go wrong

I picked a dagger guy and I'm liking the game, but after the first time encountering the hydra, when you start getting quest, well I've Been getting my ass kicked. Like this bandit would not die for about 5 minutes of a constant berrage. Then I tried going in the well and RIP. Then I followed this ghostly bitch onto this island and she told me have fun... Well the rats there are invincible and I'm not having fun :(

Like damn did I pick a wrong class or something, or is this game just that hard.
Well (from a little higher up the previous page):
There are two quests near the start where you'll get your arse kicked: the one you're talking about, and one where after talking a left turn on the road out of Cassardis
you'll get molested by bandits
. For your one, Ice Boon should get you over the line (make sure you have a mage in your party who has that spell and casts it for the party) along with having a full party. For the latter one, just run past them initially.

As to the "ghostly bitch," that's how you get to Bitterblack Isle. That should be the very last thing you attempt in the game, it's the DLC for Dragon's Dogma and is way harder than everything in the vanilla game. Come back after you've finished the entire main game.

LOL oh my God hahaha XD

Excepting few specific areas, Dragon's Dogma does not block you from venturing to places way beyond your power level, and yeah it also does not mark the difficulty for quests so just take your time leveling up your characters and purchasing equipment.

Take exceptional care especially when accepting escort quests, because if you fail them there will be no retries (which is why I advise anyone playing this game to do save backups regularly to PS+ storage or USB just in case), make sure to make use of the teleport crystals to finish these quests easily and safely.

Awww thank you 😊

So it's like the skeleton place in dark souls that made me quit that came for a while. At least now I know instead of beating my head agains a gravestone for hours on end...

I've never played as a magic-user in this game. I'm interested but hesitant. I've only ever rented pawns who use magic, myself and my Pawn being either melee or ranged.

How interesting is it to play as an Magick-using Arisen?

This game does magic better than any other game ever made, IMHO. Make sure you have a couple of aggressive, beefcake pawns with the right inclinations set. As a Mage you can get in the mix a fair bit, but the ultimate is playing as a Sorcerer. You have to modify your play style a lot, because the best Sorcerer spells take an age of man to cast, but it's the most spectacular thing in the game.

Look at my profile for my PSN and use my Arisen, new folks. She is level 11 and currently a fighter. I'm going to make her a god tier ranger later on but she needs her strength first. But I need rc so please summon her.

What's the best way to make money these days in DD? I remember making a fortune with mouldy carrots, but I'm assuming that got patched.

It's very flashy and fun, but not necessarily efficient in many situations.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I could make a new version of my Rurik-Strider Pawn. Grumpy old buff guy with a booming voice and a really agressive nature. :D

Do enemies drop equipment or is it mostly bought from stores?

Do i do anything when I level up or when my rook does?
U find equipment in chests

When you level up, your personal spawn will also
Hired pawns level up with their owners, not you
So u have to enter the rift to refresh their levels or hire new ones

Magic Arisen, moreso Sorcerers, are really fun to play as.
You benefit from having two at least (ideally both you and your main pawn, so you can customise things better), as the cast times and savage increase depending on how many are casting the spell in close proximity at the same time.

Are there any improvements from the PC version?

For the escort quests i'd advise new people to stay on roads as much as possible even if it takes significantly more time to reach your destination.

Played for a few hours last night and I seem to be levelling up a lot quicker then I remember.

I've just fought
the Hydra
and I'm already on lvl 12. Think I need to ease back and start concentrating on my fighter's vocation rank instead (currently at 4/10).

Am I right in thinking fighting lots of lower level mobs is better as you earn a higher percentage towards your vocation?

Been a good few years singe I played DA but I've slipped back into this as if I never left. Great stuff so far.

Better yet, just set up teleport crystals so you can jump to the destination directly, Hehehe.

Maybe this is hard for 1st time player tho, since you need to know beforehand the appropriate locations, but Goddamn this method saves a LOT of headache for the escort quests.

Got an email from Amazon 2 days after launch saying my preordered copy would be dispatched sometime between the 17 and 28th.

What's the point....2nd time this month Amazon have pulled this shit in me.

Yeah once you get to know the locations this is the best solution.

Oh wow this sucks.
I assume you'll cancel it right?At least that's what i'd do.

Got it for 19.99€ in Amazon. Said why the hell not. Got the PS3 version on PS+ and while I never finished it the game left a big impression in me. Story was almost non existant and quests were... well, modern quests.

But exploring the world had something I can't fully grasp that was really satisfying and the combat as top class. Bows for life. I remember an obtuse affinity system that decided my most beloved person was the Queen, which was weird because I had met her 5 minutes ago lol.

I'll give it a proper go, Dark Arisen content and all.

FYI, the old “Inflection” bug that was inadvertently introduced in the PS3/X360 SKUs have been fixed in the PS4/XB1 HD versions. Steam version will also get patched later this week.

Feature and content wise, both PS4 and XB1 are same as the outgoing Steam version. That includes the new and expanded Trophy/Achievement set. After all, it was ported by the same talented team who worked on the Steam version. ;-)
I wouldn't say they're the talented team if they done the console version at 30fps

😕

Just tried to do this with
Selene
and put it at the wrong healing spring...

Pretty sure I've gotten all caught up on posters giving their pawn info, if you still don't see your pawn in post #1 just let me know and ill add it in.

UK physical copies seem to be rarer than unicorn spunk. Out of stock online and nothing in Game or Smyth's this morning.

How is the performance on PS4? I haven't seen anyone screaming, so I assume it's OK?

Absolutely fine so far. I've played for maybe 3-4 hours and I haven't noticed any substantial drops in framerate, even during combat with multiple enemies and spells going off.

I've had a stutter or two for a fraction of a second in very rare instances, but I'm pretty sure it's been 30fps locked 99.9% of the time.

My pawn is a 13-14 year old, Viking Warrior looking kid. He's real scrappy. Give him a try.

The pawn system is messing up my brain the more I read about it.

I'm a ranger type, and made a fighter pawn for tanking and such. I think I gave him inclinations to attack the strongest enemy, but now I kinda want to use him more for crowd control.

Then I read that fighter/warrior is a BAD choice for the main pawn?

Then I read his inclination might change depending on what I do??

Maybe it doesn't matter all that much in the early game, and I can change him later on?

My OCD is kicking in badly lol

You can buy potions to change their inclinations and how they behave at the encapment (you can also somewhat mold it speaking to him at INNs, but it's slower, although free).

IMO it doesn't matter that much what you make your pawn, because you'll gonna hire another pawn for the class you don't have in your party anyways.

bloody hell. i've died and lost about an hour of open world progression twice now.

once more into the breach..

FYI you can save anywhere as long as you aren't in an active battle.

There is also a checkpoint system in addition to the save anywhere system iirc so if you don't like where you saved then you can still use the checkpoint to get a little further back.

Went to order this in the UK and it's sold out/back order on both Base and ShopTo lol. Great stock allocation Capcom. Amazon is charging RRP and even they are 1~4 weeks for delivery.

Not wanting to buy digital as it costs more money and I prefer physical.

I was able to pre-order Saturday and got it yesterday, is like nobody knew it was releasing until it did, then sold out.

Don't see what wrong with Fighter main pawn.

Will be wanted for renting for sure as Strider/ranger/assassin types are popular for Arisen/main pawns so less likely to be rented.

Warrior not so good a tank imo. Don't call 'help' to pawns. Ever. Gives then guardian inclination which sucks.

Do i need to remove all items from a pawn if i delist it?Or are they moved to my item box? Sorry if this has been asked before.

Contacted Shopto yesterday and they said they're getting more copies tomorrow (Thursday), also got charged and a dispatch email from them today so they could have them now?
