would be really, really amazing if TRICO shows up at the Sony conference. maybe a live demo, played by God/Ueda himself.

ok, i can dream, right?

if so, i`m curious how the announce it:

"folks, we leaked the concept video for you to build hype, now here is the real deal...!"

or ignoring a "leak":

"for the first time ever we will show a concept view of teamICO´s next project...!"

;-I

"We know you already got a taste of what's to come off the net, but now here's the real thing!" Followed by a blast of light which leaves everyone naked and terrified and weeping with joy and confused and in love.

Not sure how reliable this site is but:

http://www.vg247.com/2009/05/20/leaked-trico-footage-is-real-talk-casts-doubt-on-e3-reveal/

VG247 has it on cast iron authority that the Trico footage leaked overnight is real.

Strict anonymity surrounds the information.

The footage, as has now been widely speculated, is over a year old.

We’ve also been told this morning that the game may not sufficiently advanced enough for an E3 reveal.

Great fear surrounds this, Ringo. We’re waiting on comment from Sony.

Game may not be sufficiently advanced? :lol

After being in development for nearly 4 years?

YAH, OK.

TRICO may or may not show up at E3, but the game is definitely 'sufficiently advanced' enough to be shown at this point.

If has been in development since, at the earliest, early 2006, possibly late 2006. The trailer itself was shown for the first time in late 2007 and is no indication of being real-time.

Anyway, it has not been 4 years.

I said nearly 4 years. It's probably closer to 3.5 at this point, but who cares? That's a long ass time. And the old trailer was shown in late 2007 (Septemberish, IIRC), meaning they've had a lot of time since the trailer was shown to work on the game. And it was clearly real time using the ICO engine in HD.

To say the game isn't advanced enough to show is ridiculous.

Ether_Snake is right, while the trailer has the tell tale signs of being rendered "in-engine", it could be post-processed offline and compiled. If you watch the Nico concept trailer it looks produced much the same way.

IIRC from past interviews, Team Ico's development doesn't really get off the ground until after Ueda puts together the concept reel. Its mostly R&D and preliminary design until that point. Thats just the way they work, and they have some leeway.

Who knows how reliable the source is here, but I hardly think its a lock the game shows up at E3. TGS may make more sense.

It's 3 years in development AT MOST (they were still giving interviews in early 2006 about SotC since it was only recently being released in Europe and they were saying how they still didn't know for sure what their next game would be, just that they had different ideas). Also, this being a next-gen game, it's normal it would take more time. Also, there were rumors they were working on two games.

So it's not far fetched to think the game isn't advanced enough to show it. How much longer? Maybe 6 months would be enough. There can be a thin line between "too early" and "ready".

AND CAN WE PLEASE GET TO THE NEXT PAGE SO THESE FUCKING HIGH RES IMAGES WILL STOP LOADING ARGH

No Trico shown = failed E3 for me...

yeah but it just makes you wonder... if the Trico footage was purposely released by Sony, like the PSPGo stuff....why so close to E3?

I expect them to show something to the public.......

but TGS would have made more sense.

About the "it's not advanced enough" comment from VG247, someone I know who saw the newer trailer told me that now he has a pretty accurate idea on the title and the release timeframe. If it's still too early, a release date would not be given.

... "Newer".. trailer?

Issun23 said:
Yes, the one that's not 2 years old.

Wait what... newer Trico trailer? You know someone who has seen it?

WTF are you doing on GAF!!! Ask him full details of the trailer including release time frame and then drop a megaton here!!!!!! :D

Please?

Quoting myself from earlier in this thread...

There is a newer trailer, with some differences and which looks better. (I haven't seen it.) If Sony is indeed planning on showing the game at E3 it will most probably be this newer trailer.

Pistolero said:
No superlatives used ? :D

No superlatives but the guy was pretty impressed. Considering the trailer we've seen already was described as "amazing and unbelievable," it will be a bit difficult to find nicer words for the new clip.

Issun do you have any info as to what the thinking about Trico is in the Sony camp about the public unveiling? Any chance of E3, or TGS (which I think is more likely), or will it be like Jaffe's game and will probably have its own reveal? What is your view?

If I knew I'd spill the beans, which is probably why I don't know in the first place. :lol

From Eurogamer Italy:

Questa sera abbiamo sostanzialmente saputo ciò che sarà e onestamente non pensavo neppure io di restarci così. Sorprese "fantasiose" all'orizzonte, da strapparsi i capelli e andare dal "tricologo"...

Let me translate...

This evening we've sufficiently learned what will be shown at the event, and, honestly, I didn't even think I would be this impressed. "Fantastical" surprises on the horizon, things that will make you go crazy and seek help from the "tricologist."

Hmm...

Seems unusual for a journo with access to info not to leak it..particularly on a euro site.. :p

The 'BBC guy' mentioned his 'secret PS3 game' might be shown at E3, looking substantially different from the last time he saw it. I'm thinking that might be Trico. But, he doesn't sound sure it will be there.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/technology/2009/06/e3_2009_predictions.html

I'm also led to believe that a game I was shown more than a year ago now, and got me quite excited, might, just might, be unveiled at this E3. And I've also been told that the game has changed enormously since I first saw it...

Lots of mights and ifs and buts there, but .. *crosses fingers*

tricologist means hair specialist - ie. people will be pulling their hair out. Very clever hint if it's also pointing to Trico.

I remember reading some rumor a while back that it might be Syphon Filter... don't know though. Maybe it's a new IP.

It would be ridiculous if it weren't shown at this E3.

He must've seen the game when it was already 1-2 years in the works, such that it was realtime, and if it isn't shown now it would only be shown in 2010, meaning the game's 4th year or so in production.

By the sounds of it though, it seems like he's talking about TRICO. The only reason it might not appear at this E3 is so that it can debut at TGS.
