Looks good, i try to recreate that as good as i can.

But i have a question to the optional internal section.
I have only one space there for a class 5 module, this guide says i should use 2, is that a error and i should use a 4A shield bank instead?

That's weird, this should be up to date. Also if you want to replace the hull and module reinforcement packages with something else, go ahead, but be wary of your remaining power.

Moose Biscuits

It would be extreamly painful...
Holy Shit, the passenger carrier gig prints money. I went from 2-3mil after buying and outfitting the dolphin a couple of days ago to over 11 million now. Not even doing sightseeing missions, just short hops and simple transport jobs.

I need to grind 200M CR to get an A grade Python

I think this will be my last ship not sure if I'll get a Conda too much work to do can't play as much as I would like

did you do the 100 scan mission thing? I think that's good for like 3 more days?

That's 200M right there.

edit: beaten

Sirius is in lockdown so I can't unlock Marco Qwent. Well, that's dumb.

uhhhh when did this happen? pretty sure I'm still docked in the system as I had him upgrading my Corvette's power capacity.

Dunno. I need the invitation mission in the Sirius system from Sirius Corporation but all the stations are on lockdown. :'(

It bums me out because I'm carrying 28 Modular Terminals ready to hand in to him. lol :(

May I ask where you found those? I looked and looked with no luck. So many dead T7s, T9s and various other transports...

So theoretically, if I go to the center while scanning most planets on my way, then going back using different route I do the same, will it be enough to put me in the elite ballpark? I'm currently a Pathfinder.

Pretty sure it will plus you're going to make some serious money from scans too.

You can only get them from mission rewards, so I kept the ones I got from doing data delivery missions while grinding Empire rep in Wu Guinagi/HIP 10716. Any High Tech system in Boom state will do.

I was on long Jouerney in my ASP Explorer so i made sure i had a fuel scoop but I had few mishaps along the way my ship was overheating badly when trying to refuel. So I thought I would jump to the next system and scoop some fuel up but it was troll star that gave me no fuel :(

I ended up with 5% health and no fuel... luckily for me the fuel rats came to my rescue mr-tomazzz came in his Diamondback explorer and gave me enough fuel and some tips to get me to my final destination.

If your ever out of fuel get help here awesome bunch of people : https://www.fuelrats.com

Cool, thanks for the info.

I better get going then.

I still find this hard to believe, those guys are awesome. xD

Do the Ram Tah Ancient Ruins scan quest. 201 Million in 6-7 hours (can be done in 5 if you're really good at it)

Thanks guys what system do I pick up this mission?
I would be well worth it to do it tonight

Just to check to play ED in VR you have to be using the version from either Steam (think the key I have from here gave me Horizon as well) or from the Oculus Rift store right? Can't be using the client from Frontier themselves?

edit: Nevermind. That's a yes you do.

Impulse bought a Diamondback Scout last night. Intending to use it for light exploration and low-profile (read: shady) passenger missions.

Feels like a fun ship to fly so far. I like its "functional" look and the fact that it has good heat and power management. Also very much like being able to jump long distances without having to scoop or refuel.

A couple more of my friends picked this up on PS4 (spreading the love!) and we're planning on making a mid-long term goal of becoming cronies for Li Yong-Rui. We're all complete powerplay noobs; just hoping to gradually earn some merits and at least get his rank 3 reward. Kind of half-role playing. Nothing serious, but should we be worried about the recent goings on with Sirius?

Hmmm me and my friend started noticing a nasty bug on PS4 tonight...

If we use the Wing Nav Beacon to jump to the other player while he's in or near a station the person who jumped can't land propery afterward.

Basically the station doesn't load correctly so when you go through the door half of the textures inside won't load and the ship won'T compensate for the always rotating platform which makes it EXTREMELY difficult to dock.

Anybody seen that yet?

Edit: Ok looks like it's a known issue. Hopefully they'll fix it soon cause it's a super cool feature

I believe the Diamondbacks got a pretty good buff a few patches back. I think the Explorer can get one of the best jump ranges in the game.

Why does this game not respect the player's time?

Welcome to the last 2.5 years...

In all seriousness though (and no, this is not a defense of some of the bizarre design changes FD made in this game), I think the thing most people need to realize in Elite is that they should for the most part, do what's fun for you. If you enjoy bounty hunting, get a KWS and go bounty hunting. If you enjoy explorations and taking all the pretty screenshots, get an Asp and go way beyond the bubble. If you enjoy running missions, do that. If you want to pirate, do that. If you like smuggling, and the thrill of it, do that. Or trade if you prefer that. Or bring friends along to make all of the above more fun.

Sure, stuff comes along like Quince and everyone flocks to that, and if you enjoy doing passenger missions, then good for you, you hit the jackpot this time. Usually there's something like that that's kind of broken in the game. I did smuggling back when Robigo runs were a thing. These days I like to bounty hunt in RES mostly, but I also take the occasional massacre mission in a CZ, or a pirate lord mission and be prepared to fight a boss battle. While what I'm doing may not be the most profitable thing in the game, I am enjoying it. I think that's worth more than credits, and I'm still making credits this way!

Also if you enjoy Engineer grinding, well that's your kink I suppose, but you do you on that one.
wink.gif

Bottom line: Find what's fun for you, find a way to make it profitable. It's not a race, you'll get to your goal one way or another. Enjoy the journey.

I'd like to speak up in defense of the X52 solely in the area of buttons and customizability. It's become clear to me from looking at the timestamps of various forum posts that this was once a huge mess that has now been mostly solved. Clarification on its current state:

- Right out of the box everything on the X52 is customizable within E:D itself except two buttons: the scroll wheel and the mouse nub.
- By installing the profile software you get mouse functionality instantly for both.
- By playing around with the profile you can make the nub and wheel fully customizable. The key setting for the mouse nub is "Bands;" I can make a detailed guide if people are interested. No registry editing necessary (unless you want to go full analog).
- The three buttons on the base of the throttle can be bound in game! They're not just for managing the HOTAS itself. Great placement for landing gear and cargo scoop.
- The default slider setting for radar zoom is a nice feature, but that too is customizable.
- Even the silly rotary buttons can be bound to things like head lights. A little counter-intuitive, but easily learnable.
- There's only one knob for which binding is still a bit wonky, the three-way mode switch. But it'll reveal itself eventually.

I pushed to try the nub for lateral and vertical thrusters. It works fine but not optimally- the d-padness of hats seems to beat the less distinct inputs of a mouse. Perhaps I'll bind the nub to power pip distribution. I'm sure the other criticisms of the X52 are legitimate, but I'll be using all of its buttons, knobs, and sliders.

There is a setting to remove the up and down in VR.
Thanks for the tip- just tried Maintain Horizon Camera in training and it absolutely reduces motion sickness in VR. Unfortunately it's also completely immersion breaking, as my body sways with respect to my vision like a pendulum. If you have to drive an SRV it's the way to go.

So i finally got rid of the sidewinder and got me a Viper MKIII and put a few things into it for 250k. Still get wrecked easily in fights. Shields blow of fast -_-.

Prices of ships are not really balanced for a simulation imo. 140k for a combat ship? Should be like 1million or 1,5. Won't complain since i could afford it that way but what are sport cars costing in this universe? 10k credits?

Umm I just realized my game is the non-Steam version. Is there anyway to get this onto Steam now that Steam already has the game?

EDIT: Never mind. Figured this out.

What sort of fights are you getting yourself into?
I was having a similar problem getting over-zealous with my Viper MkIII in CZs (even low intensity ones). If several foes target you at once, and you have no backup, not even all those fancy upgrades will save you unfortunately.

Maybe stick to coat-tailing off the cops in high intensity RES for now until you get comfortable with your preferred loadout.
Then you could try going 1v1 in the same RES instance, or doing assassination missions. As long as you stay behind most targets with the Viper's maneuverability (and they don't have multiple escorts), you should be okay.

RES, killed 2 ships with help of security forces but sometimes they just stroll away a bit from the wanted ships, then one keeps focusing on me and after ten seconds i'm toast. Have to approach it more carefully.

Same with low intesity conflict zone. Choose the side which had the upper hand and almost made it to the end but the last ship got me -_-. Going to try more. Not happy about my weapon layout anyway. Have to look up some good loadouts.

Played through the game I-WAR back then and that was hard as nails too but i liked that.

Correct, the DBE has the second best jump range in the game, second only to the Anaconda. Mine in explorer trim makes 58.8lys with a full tank, and 60.9lys on fumes.

Out of curiosity I just went to see the Star Citizen thread, I wanted to read up on the latest developments etc. about the game aaaand... as much as I love it here, oh boy, it instantly became my favorite thread on gaf, it's like watching 24/7 salt mining operation lol, I highly recommend it.

Anyhow... time to go back to my trusty Columbus and continue the journey to the center of the galaxy. Scanning planets on the way is so much better with 'fast scanner' mod, it cut the wait time in half, I'm glad I did this while I was modding my FSD.

Been messing around with cannons vs multis.. Don't sleep on the cannons, those things wreck...and I mean wreck, internals. I can disable Python + size ships in about 1/2 the time as multi cannons. Now you need to be closer and have a better firing solution than multis, but cannons do hit hard.

Messed around with ED in VR last night. Now unless I'm doing something wrong and I don't think I am it wasn't as great as I was expecting. The overall scale of the world was impressive. Damn!! I really didn't appreciate just how big the stations and ships were until last night. However all of that can't make up for how low in quality everything looks. Had this been designed for VR from the ground up and not just supporting VR (that's the difference I'm seeing between the enjoyable and not so enjoyable experiences) it that might have been different. For some it's just fine but I've been staring at ED in 1080p, high settings, it looking very clean and sharp for to long to okay with the step back. Nothing I was doing was making it better. Had it not been this I would be very happy right now. That said I'm leaning heavily toward returning the Rift later this week but instead I think I will finally be picking up a Tracker IR when I do. The freedom to look anywhere you want was another big highlight of using VR. While I won't be as immersed my screen is big enough (might even get a bigger monitor or go for triple screens) and close enough that it can come close once my headphones are on and lights are down. I'm just really looking the scale of the environment. Which is an insanely big aspect though. I'm not going to downplay that at all.

I have to go back to the scale of the universe Frontier made though. Wow! I hope when we're finally able to walk around our ships or the stations that holds up and everyone can experience that.

Don't get me wrong, the X52 is decent and has options, but I think the T16000M FCS feels better and is better in terms of functionality. Having had been, I much prefer the Thrustmaster.
