I wonder why the PC version has not been announced yet. The game sold about 29 million units the first six weeks, and 3.5 million additional units until the 3rd of February. I understand that 3.5 million units means a lot of $, but presumably the people who waited several months to get the game are less likely to double dip and buy the pc version. Releasing a PC version should have minimal effects on the long tail sales of the console versions at this point, considering that most of the people who will double dip are probably among the 29 million who bought the game in the launch window.
Additionally, it seems like the perceived value of the PC version would go down significantly if the game is offered on PC say the next autumn. The game will probably be sold at full price in the beginning (to hardcore fans, most of them among the initial 29 million), but they will have to lower price quite soon. If the PC version had been out say two months after the console version, they would still have made the extreme $ from the 29 million launch window sales, they would have made excellent long tail sales on consoles, and most importantly they would have had a full year to offer the game on PC for full price or with fake discounts (of 10-15% or so), including to all of us double dipper fools who would have paid full price for both versions.
