Fallout New Vegas |OT| Obsidian does what Bethesdon't

I bet you could eat every single person in the entire game.

That's a good idea for an achievement, actually.
Being able to set personal acheivements for yourself would be a great idea. I will try to do this. It is my duty as a New Vegas cannibal in the game.

I hope they throw in something where if you gamble and win too much at a single casino, they get mad and actually ask you to leave, and if you don't they turn hostile.

They do have some like this. It's mentioned in one of the E3 walkthrough videos.

See its touches like that that seem to escape Bethesda. A little imagination for the small things.

On another note... as much as I like PC gaming I'm going to enjoy playing this on my 65 Toshiba HDTV instead of on my minuscule 19" Acer LCD.

This is what people used to do all the time naturally until it actually became systemic.

I think the rise of trophies and achievements has actually reduced creativity on the part of players. Few feel compelled to mess around on their own or come up with their own wacky goals to as great an extent when they can be gunning for specific achievements. Another reason I'm not a fan of them.

I have an amazing PC! I can do this now too! Woooo!

Oh yeah? Good stuff man.

I know that "new PC" feeling. It's a good one, an exciting one. Haven't had that feeling in well over 3 years, but that's only because this particular rig was a wonderful investment. :D

Mister Sandman (1 Rank)

Prerequisite: Sneak 60

With the Mister Sandman perk, when you're in Sneak mode, you gain the option to silently kill any human or ghoul while they're sleeping. And, all Mister Sandman kills earn bonus experience points.
I guess this was already in FO3.

I think I'll go for a stealth character, sneak into people's house at night, kill them in their sleep, then eat them nom nom nom. It should fulfill my food requirements for Hardcore.

By day, I'll try to be a diplomatic charmer. And I'll just eat people who get on my nerves at night.

I hope the negative karma doesn't ruin me too much, though I think New Vegas focuses more on faction reputation rather than global karma.

With the cannibal perk, can you eat children? If not I am boycotting this game.

Anyways, has anything been said about whether Fallout 3 mods will be compatible with New Vegas? I like the way my character from Fallout 3 looks and her appearance cannot be recreated without mods.

Yeah I built myself an incredible top of the line PC back in March (first I ever built), and ever since then I've been keeping my PC up to date.

My PC can play Crysis at all max settings with a damn good framerate and everything :lol

The holy grail ;)

I would also look into some games that you maybe never otherwise would that can be performance-intensive, like the ArmA 2 games. Some good stuff there if you haven't checked them out.

Also: go get Amnesia. It's only $20 and it will terrify you. That goes for the rest of you in this thread. People need to buy that game.

Yeah, I think Bethesda was actually pretty good at stuff like that.

Fallout 3 had some neat touches like that but it was so inconsistent with it. Where some things should have clearly been reactive, they weren't, and the inconsistency was annoying as hell. You never knew if the game would bother to acknowledge your skills and traits at the time.

This is specifically one area where I'm expecting Obsidian's efforts and talents to pay large dividends, and I expect it to be the biggest gameplay difference between FO3 and NV.

Includes SSD Harddrive, etc not in photo. That's an Intel Core i7 930

Now it's got all sorts of shit... overclocked, it's now watercooled, i've got more RAM in there, basically been piecing it up one by one. About to buy a new videocard this upcoming march too. Best one for under $600 :lol

So, modding, I know that some steam games have had problems with mods and stuff working, so if I'm getting the pc version because of that bullet point should I just get the retail version? Or can I get it on Steam?

Steam versions haven't had issues in quite some time with mods. Every mod for Fallout 3 works perfectly in the Steam version, same with Oblivion, etc. The fact this is a Steamworks game should mean its no different.

I asked earlier, and Fallout: New Vegas is a Steamworks title, so all PC versions will use Steam.

Retail versions are still Steam. There is no non-Steam version.

Why not get another 5870 and run them in Crossfire? My brother's older 5870 died and he need a card in the meantime for New Vegas so I got him... a 5870. Now we're getting a newer, better cooled replacement and that's exactly what he'll be doing. Crossfired 5870s running New Vegas should be ridiculous. I'll get some screens off of him when we've got both cards in there.

Alright thanks guys, just making sure, I knew it used steam for install and stuff but wasn't sure if the Digital version was different.

It's good if you want your horror games to be actual horror games. ;)

Or to be more precise, survival horror. Amnesia is probably the truest survival horror game that there's ever been, or at least, that I've played.

There's a demo, by the way. I didn't bother checking it out before buying the game but it's apparently decently lengthy and gives a solid impression.

Also: play it with headphones in the dark for proper effect.

So what will happen when you do "that" quest. You know, the one where people are missing and you need to go look for them. Then you find some human bones in a ditch. Then you find the cannibals that did it? Instead of the "gasp the humanity" will your character have a "so do you guys have a sausage maker?" dialogue option?

Probably, FO3 had a good number of moments like that.

I wouldn't try it. AMD has been sucking a lot of
cock
lately with their Catalyst releases, mainly concerning CrossfireX support. I've got a 5870 and a similar setup as Amir0x and I'm getting a single, better videocard.

Fewer problems I guess.

As much as I didn't enjoy FO3, I'll get Vegas on PC because I can't stand playing it on pad and the lack of mods.

Looks like humanoid enemies can follow you into buildings now.

Had a Deathclaw follow me into a building one time in FO3. Guess that was probably a glitch? It went after the NPCs inside, slaughtering them all.

:lol My god, that's so funny. But it also makes me sad knowing there are so many things in Fallout 3 that I'll never get to see because the game is basically a ticking time bomb with increasing technical problems that eventually make the game unplayable.

My CE copy of New Vegas is set to arrive on release date from Amazon and I'm anxious like I haven't been for a videogame in a long time. :D Went with the PS3 version since my PC is busted, but at least I'll have an excuse to pick up the GotY version down the line when I can afford a new PC.

Did all the DLC for Fallout 3 hit the PC? If not, are we expecting the same for New Vegas? If I were to buy this, it would be for PC, but if we're going to be treated poorly, I will just rent this for console.

The PC version of Fallout 3 was the best version in pretty much every possible way.

DLC hit the PC at the same time it hit the 360.

Even if it's not perfect at release, you should still buy it for PC. The modding community is awesome.
