Famitsu 2010 First-Half Top 100 Chart

Wow even the top ten seem low. How did games in Japan sell in the early 2000s when the PS2 was the most popular?

The top ten isn't the problem here. During the PS2 era, maybe one or two games a year sold over a million. They were typically Final Fantasy, Pokemon or Winning Eleven. Once the DS was introduced you can start getting into years that had upwards of ten million sellers, which is really unheard of.

2007: 9
2006: 10
2005: 3
2004: 6
2003: 4
2002: 3
2001: 4
2000: 5

The real problem I see in this chart is that the bottom end seems unusually low and there is a quick drop off from the top ten. A very telling sign of economic troubles in my mind, people are only buying the big games they know they want.

The 1st and 2nd parts of my post were unrelated.

Then you agree that third-parties dropped the ball on Wii. Lack of releases typically leads to lack of sales for those non-existent releases.

I hate how japanese groups tend to count rereleases as seperate numbers.

6. [PSP] Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker (Capcom) - 727,823
This is a joke you are pulling, right OP? Famitsu didn't screw that up, did they?

Why do all the Resident Evil games say they're from Konami?
Yeah, the OP or where he got the list from is doing that dumb joke. Its only funny when it relates to castlevania anyway.

So somewhere down the road, NSMB will cross 6 million and SSBB will reach 2 when all is said and done. Really impressive.
Not that far down.
New Super Mario Bros will probably do it by the end of this year, or maybe early next year.
Super Smash Bros Brawl should definitely do it by the end of this year.
